MR. ROBOT Official Discussion Thread (New Season starts Oct.6)

This show is so fucking good. Still hard to believe that USA has taken their programming up to this level. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Some strange stuff going on in this cat's mind. In one of his earlier monologues he explained that he always hears/says "EvilCorp" when referring to E-Corp. Now whenever we hear this company name (either through other characters and even the news) we hear it as "evil corp" as well. So we're completely embedded in his point of view and reality.

It seems like things aren't as they really seem and I'm getting strong Fight Club vibes here. Entertaining stuff

Fight club vibe? It has fight club written all over it.

Fair enough.... I'm talking less about tone and more about the imaginary characters though bud.

No solid evidence yet but Slater's character and possibly that crazy hacker chick may be figments of his imagination.

Amazing show, I'm not sure whether Mr. Robot is real or a deception by the show to make us think he isn't real. Either way I'm in.

couldnt get into it

tired of the awkward genius shows
and the narrating to tell you everything

its all been done before and it does not stand out

They went there last night, they went full rainbow.
Don't bother watching to figure out what I'm talking about but I find it unfair that they gave no indication there were any gay characters in the show much less random homosexual relations between the characters. I'm enraged that a decent hacker drama gets sidelined by overt drug abuse, degenerate behavior and horrible pacing.

Where's the clown that told me to stick with this show?!!? How dare he! May a millipede with tap shoes crawl slowly into your ear while you are sleeping!

Well they did what they did!

Besides that I'm thinking I may have to rewatch some episodes. I'm a little turned around at whats the master plan is here by FSociety and why it seems like Elliot decided to join them...

I'm assuming the thing with his dad is the motivation...

It's mandatory now. Every show must have a gay character/angle

They're really pushing the envelope on this show; homosexual acts, BDSM. Not to mention drug use and creepy cyber spying. For the writers I think the key will be to stay focused on the main theme and develop the complimentary story arcs with care. Don't dumb down shit. So many shows crash and burn because the writers settle for shock and/or action instead of character development. That gay(?) dude is looking like and interesting character. Just what in the fuck is going on with him? And the freaky hacker chick. And the virus-producing disc? Lots of good arcs there. Take your time writers.

Yeah, what's up with her bogarding her way into his apartment....the fuck is that about....:smh::smh::smh:

So I watched this episode and I don't think dude is gay. I think he did it purely to get access to the guys computer. It's clear that he is trying become the new CEO for Evil corp and it looks like his wife might be the main brains behind this.
That last scene kind of reminded me of my favorite couple when they were in Blood & Sand.

I really hope that I'm right about this and dude is just planting seeds to take over Evil Corp... and since he also has hacker skills we will get this epic battle between Elliot & Tyrell.

But yeah... Anymore graphic gay shit like that and I'm probably going to bounce... but for now I'm all in on this show.

Yes, exactly. ALL of the characters have shown depth. The hacker chick with the skills of a cat burglar as well as writing the original Evil Corp hack. Mr. Robot who is, what? A mastermind? Because we haven't seen him hack yet but he obviously knows something. And he's got some weird code that lets him throw dude onto rocks. WTF? The gay (maybe) guy with the PREGNANT wife into BDSM who is clearly willing to do anything for power. Even Elliot's boss who seems so lost is no fool because he knows something is up. The dealer/girlfriend/ artist. Her ex-boyfriend/supplier who I'm sure we haven't seen the last of. Not to mention Elliot's best friend and her boyfriend who is now the focus of a cyber attack, from China? Man, they all have lots of interesting wrinkles, but I'll say it again: develop those wrinkles and characters. Don't settle for cheap theatrics and obvious plot twists.

I believe dude did that act just to gain access to his phone. They showed way more of the act than necessary. Also think Mr. Robot is a figment of Elliot's imagination. I don't believe anyone else has interacted with the character.

Yeah I'm also starting to think that Mr Robot is a figment of Elliot's mind. Next weeks episode where he looks to be fully working with Fsociety should answer that question.

Didn't like them messing up the train station in the first episode...that ain't the Q stop.

I got a feeling the best friend and her boyfriend are being hacked by Dark Army...who may be playing both sides of the fence working for both elliot and evil corp.

To me it's obvious he isn't real
when he makes a scene no one looks directly at him
and in coney island when the hacker girl is frustrated and yelling at ELLIOT the whole time the only reason she even looks at mr. Robot is because he moves and stands directly in front of elliot...she looks right through him.

Could be, there's lots of ways for them to go, I just hope they don't take the easy way out. Don't dumb it down.

Hmm. I didn't notice that. I'll have to check it out. Another wrinkle. Although Elliot does wonder about what's real and what isn't, so...

To me just like in fight club and sixth sense that will be THE scene the 2 other hacker guys look at ELLIOT for instructions even though it was supposed to be mr. Robot giving orders.

The possibilities are very interesting indeed. But, who's behind the mask? That should be a helluva reveal if Mr. R is a figment. Shit is def a topic for convo.

You're paying attention  Elliot has schizophrenia and I don't remember ever seeing him sleep he's on edge. The other hackers never even looked in Mr. Robots direction he doesn't exist outside of Elliot's mind. The gay shit and smacking himself in the mirror was to show how dude will do anything it takes to get that promotion. These are some wild characters.

Agreed

I wouldn't be surprised if they say everything after the first sighting of mr. Robot was delusion from the morphine.

Now THAT would be ill.

Yup

Dude is just as unhinged as elliot
some cracked mirror reflection like on justified
That dude is able to manage his differently to achieve money and power...and he sees himself in elliot.
he didn't see it as gay just a means to an end that is why that 'dirty' comment worked on different levels. He just used him and literally f*cked him over and felt dirty afterwards. All to get his phone, he hacked him earlier when he told him email me DIRECTLY. not only didn't he want his assistant to know his business but i think he wanted him to email him directly...could be that's how he knew what club he frequented and that he was gay.

Can't remember the last time i watched a series and couldn't wait until the next episode dropped. Can't wait until tonight.

Agreed..... however the scene itself was it really necessary.....:puke::smh:

Definitely in agreement regarding Mr.Robot as well being in his head.

definitely...

could have shown the kiss in the club and then later with the guy asleep in the bed.

but I THINK they wanted to be so raw and uncomfortable to show you how messed up mentally that the character was/is and how he will do ANYTHING and I do mean ANYTHING.

I'm still not sure about Mr. Robot. What about the bartender? I suppose the evidence is pointing to him being in Elliot's imagination but there are a few discrepancies.
