MR. ROBOT Official Discussion Thread (New Season starts Oct.6)

Agreed.
I don't even think Ray really needed Elliot to do this for him. I think the REAL JOB is coming up next.
Elliot only even called the other dude over out of curiosity. Elliot could do what that other guy couldn't do, he wasn't helping Elliot at all.

Completely agree on this one... Which would fall in line with Mr. Robot telling Elliot to stop but he couldn't help it. Now he is basically trapped for the big job. This would also fall in line with how Elliot noticed that the other computer guy had skills and was wondering why Ray would need him. While at the same time we know that Ray had the shit kicked out of dude because Dude said he wasn't skilled enough to something involving Bitcoins and the site. Something tells me that this is way bigger then what we were led to believe.

peace

He did have a run in with someone face2face in the park over the basketball, where he 1st met Ray who squashed shit with a very calm, yet powerful demeanor.
@ one time I thought Leon was in the institution with Elliot and their convos are inthe lunchroom instead of a diner but Im not sure about that anymore.
It will reveal itself gloriously and Im not pressed to know yet

Ok just go with me on this one...

So through the power of the internet I went back and looked at the moment you are talking about.

Ball rolls under Leon's foot.... Leon looks at the ball, picks it up and throws it away. The guy on the court runs up to Leon as if they were about to fight.
The guy only talks to Leon and doesn't make eye contact with Elliot. Elliot doesn't say a thing and there is no voice over. Elliot is specifically not shown in their confrontation. There is a jump cut to show Elliot isolated on the bench, but that cut only shows him and his reaction. No other people.

Then Ray walks up with Ball in hand with his dog and looks at Leon. He acknowledges Leon and the Camera is specifically framed to only show Leon and Ray talking. Elliot is not shown. Next the Camera pans out and shows Elliot still sitting down, while at the same time Ray sits next to Elliot, Leon gives the I'm out look and walks out of Frame. Ray doesn't even look at Leon's direction. At no time were either Elliot or Leon acknowledged at the same time in this scene. And Leon hasn't had any solo scenes showing any interaction with other characters without Elliot being around. So I'm now 97% certain that Leon is made up.

I want to but I am so full right now...

I don;t know if I can REALLY pick up any new shows...

it has to be OUTSTANDING

Only reason I'm gonna binge Feed the Beats next week is cause of cuz Bills.

but it does look like a crazy version of inception...

my thing NOW is I canntot even BEGIN to invest in any show that look like it may be cancelled after like ones season.

Same here... Man I don't know about Feed the Beast. Hell I still need to binge Breaking Bad so i can watch Better Call Saul. That's how behind I am. It's too much good shit. And we are getting closer to Premiere season again.

Gotcha
Anotha manifestation of Elliots so called psycosis once again which stays relevant to all else that already has happenned.
I wouldn't be suprised....
So, when Leon's saying "This is weird" when Elliot was on those drugs he got from 'Leon', he's basically questioning himself from another decision that he made.

Hell I still need to binge Breaking Bad so I can watch Better Call Saul. That's how behind I am.
Treat yourself to getting through where ever you are with this as soon as you can.
They've set the tone for a lot of shows that follow what they did, how they did it.

I understand...

and this is a topic for another thread but I feel like Breaking Bad is NOT a binge show at MOST every day.

But I REALLY appreciated waiting a week between episodes.

Saul is a little slow...the first season so I can see that.

I couldn't BINGE robot...

at least not the way I watch it.

I got to rewind google etc and then bgol.

Most shows I can damn near fast forward a good 10 min and NOT miss a beat.

I'm actually bingeing POWER now.

I'm PISSED no one told me Angie from ALL My children was playing the mother in law!!!!!!

This season is based on Elliott's time away in the mental institution that he checked himself into as he had become overwhelmed by the hacking of evil corp which brought on heavy visions of Mr. Robot. His love for Angela is his driving force to get better. No one thinks it's a tad bit strange there's a chick lighting fires every other week he is obviously in a institution. Leon is real. Ray is real. It would be lazy writting to just add more imaginary characters to the show. Elliott's mother could be employed by the institution or "queen bitch" could be someone else or shit he could be living with his mom. But then why does it always look like Elliott is on a payphone in a hallway (of an institution) if he is at his mother's?
Ray has to work at the institution and Elliot comes to his office how else or when would mr robot have been able to talk to Ray one evening? How would Ray have been able to so conveniently get Elliott's notebook and return it so fast. Writing in a notebook seems like a practice and institution would have its patients exercise. Elliot hasn't had any scenes outside of those institutional type settings. He didn't even run home when his sister called him to tell him they got owned he stayed in those same settings.

I'm leaning on the institution theory but I'm going to need another episode to fall in line with this.... because the problem with this theory is that we have seen Ray at computer minion's house in front of his minions wife and Kid and Elliot wasn't anywhere in that scene. Right now the institution theory doesn't make since because based on that scene. Because in that scene they established a character and created a relationship that leads one to the conclusion that Ray is definitely operating an illegal business and is known for his violence. I can't see Ray operating a Darknet website from a work computer in a mental institution. That's to easy to trace and anyone smart enough to operate on the darkweb isn't going to do that.

Ray probably is the Dark Army.

Right, the thing about this show is it makes you overthink things lol
Elliot is really in this fucked up situation.

oh yeah...bout time this shit got started...

i was like ..dam this season slow as shit...:(

then the last 5 minutes of episode 5 happened...:dance2:

Ray has established that he don't care! Ray just works at the institution so he can come and go as he pleases that is why we saw him at the computer minion's house. People do reckless things at work everyday. Ray just had his guys jump a patient (if he is in an institution) and is running a dirty site he obviously doesn't give two fucks. Might have a lot to do with the lost of his wife and the speech he gave Elliot about how following rules being a perfect driver and doing everything like you are suppose to didn't save her life from the car crash. So he said fuck the rules when she died. Ray is not smart enough to operate on the darkweb that is why Elliot is involved. To put it simply Ray is off the chain. Well katt's found it hard to believe mr robot wasn't real last season when I tried to tell them early.

Naw man you have to have some brains to create and run a Tor site, because it's to easy to get fucked either by cops or hackers. You would have to operate a site like that with minimal risk. So you are not going to running and operated an illegal Tor site on your work computer and through Firefox. I agree that Ray definitely doesn't seem like he knows coding but he clearly knows how the dark web works. If he is in an institution and I'm wrong then this show is going to lose some of its credibility to me because that would be taking away some of the realisim that the show has done so well to establish among the hacker communities.

But you have to keep in mind just last season those other katts where twitting there illegal business for the whole world to see and that is how vera got knocked. Owning a company doesn't mean that you know how to run every aspect of the company. Have you ever watched undercover boss they always show how the ceo never knows how to actually run machines or do the smallest of jobs properly. That is why they hire others to do it ray can own all the websites in the world and not know what is going on. You could tell by the way ray types he is not that xomputer friendly. Computers are not rays thing opportunity is.

Like I said I'm going to need one more episode for me to lean in favor of the institution theory. This next episode might confirm it.... since him getting beat up could be viewed as him getting beat up by
Orderlies. But still so far there is nothing that I've seen about Ray's character when he isn't around Elliot that would suggest that he works in a mental institution.

is it kinda strange that elliot seemed surprised that the dark web existed? He seemed almost naive at how extensive it is and how dangerous it can be. Anyone who markets in human trafficking, torture and murder for hire isn't someone who will take being shut down easily... even tho mr robot told him that he still seemed awfully naive about the level of danger of it all.

for all of whiterose's careful attention to detail and discretion and secrecy did it seem plausible that he would host and party at his mansion and not have areas cordoned off to the guests? Dom just walked around randomly opening rooms.

Angela is horribly underestimating the repercussion for being involved in the 5/9 hack. She think at worst she can do a plea and get 10 years or so when she is in the digital version of 911..the govt needs a face to place all the blame on...in the absence of a true bad guy(s) they will gladly hang all that shit on her...bernie madoff was sentenced to 150 years in federal prison for a 65 billion dollar ponzi scheme...the 5/9 hack wipe out what..hundreds of billions of dollars? Anyone the feds catch is never getting out prison..

I'll be back to address this momentarily

It's just tv:dunno: elliot may be more so surprised that ray was into those things? White rose would have drawn suspicion to himself and or was trying to get their guards down being that he would have them killed tge next day he was probably thinking fuck what they see. Angela is said to be the one who surprises everyone this season.

1) i was under the impression that he was more surprised that the guy who he thought he had a connection with was into that kind of shit than anything.

2) i highly doubted that whiterose had any incriminating material in his home. afterall he did show her his dress collection willingly.

3) as far as angela goes, you think that if the collective thought realistically about the years they were facing, that they would've gone through with the hack?

Quick thought about the ending Flashback. I wonder if the bruise on young Elliot's Face was a sign that this was adult Elliot slipping back into that happy world but still damaged or Was it a clue to show that the abuse from Elliot's mother started long before Mr. Robot passed away... which is not what we have been told. We have told that she was a hard woman, but that things went to physical abuse after Elliot told her about his dad's cancer. Now i'm really interested to see the scene where he does actually tell her about his Dad's Cancer. I wonder how it came up.
