Movies: Actors of Color Were Entirely Shut Out of the Oscars (Ongoing Industry Responses)

So would u say that those Oscars they recieved were "token" Oscars given limited screentime?

No. Brando in Godfather, DeNiro in Godfather 2, Hopkins, those were legendary performances that didn't just represent the height of the craft in the respective years they were nominated but still stand as some of the greatest acting work ever put on film.

I stop giving a shit about the Oscars ever sense the Color Purple was totally shut out in all the categories it was nominated for.
Nominated for 11 Oscars and did not win a goddamn one!
:curse::curse::curse:

I'd rather have no nominations that token ones. This isn't the most outrageous case of snubs I've ever seen... hell, last year was more egregious with the lack of acting noms for Selma. There just weren't a whole lot of truly great movies period this year, let alone black performances which are always at a derth. Jordan was damn good in Creed, but I can't make the case that he was so much better than (Cranston, Fassbender, Damon, Redmayne, DiCaprio) to knock one of them off the list.
Get the fuck outa here

Something needs to be done to fuck with the show's ratings.

I wonder how many people of color actually watch that bs or plan to watch it because of CR?

Can't be done at the awards level. It's got to be done at the studio level where the content is originated if you want to fuck with them -- casting mainly. That's where diversity has to start. It's not a matter of what's not getting recognized, it's a matter of what's not getting made. There has to be more quality material in the marketplace As it is now, Universal seems to be the only major studio unafraid to produce a major motion picture with black and brown faces in lead roles.

Fox, Disney, and Universal all used to have fellowships and programs that served as incubators for minority directors and writers. Disney and Fox still have something going on the television side, but for feature films, those have all but disappeared now.

Black panther will win awards
But I'll bet you they won't be Oscar awards. It will get awards from second rate outfit that don't even have a ceremony on TV.
No super hero movie has ever won an Oscar. Birdman doesn't count.
The story of a black king of a fictional black African kingdom who also happens to be the richest man in the world ($500 billion), oh and did i mention he's a fucking superhero?
Yeah, like white America is going to line up to nominate this one for anything that puts the award in black hands.
Are you fucking crazy?
If Disney's greedy ass didn't own Marvel, it wouldn't even be getting made.
When that shit comes out, it will bring a level of hate that hasn't been seen since Obama won his first term.

Damn that was mad real.

why do black people even give a fuck about shit like this!?

The Oscar's are the highest platform, most respected award in Hollywood (correct me if I'm wrong), it's like the Grammy. Why wouldn't you want an award honoring your work?

Listen the academy voters are made up of all the actors and actresses who won an academy award..

Obviously mostly Cacs who vote for Cacs.. Black vote already have a small vote in the academy so the numbers are too small to even make a difference..

Notice a critically acclaimed film with majority black actors would only get nominated for best film yet you would NEVER see the lead actor get nominated for best actor/actress or supporting actor and if the director is black forget about it.

That right there shows how racist the academy is..

How the movie Selma gets an award for best film and song but no nomination for best actor or director?

It's the same with Creed.. Lead role is a black actor who carried ther film and a black director who also wrote the film yet a mumbled mouth bad acting washed up muscle head gets nominated for best supporting actor?

The president of the academy is a black women.. A clueless coon to be exact.. Cheryl Boon Isaacs, she was ask why black actors were shut out and the bitch response was "well we had some Hispanic actors and actresses that were nominated" smh

Because white folks created and said so? Naw bruh, that old Hollywood racist money ain't checking for our talent. They always throw us a bone when it comes to the Oscars. They've been doing the same exact thing for a while now. We outrage and the next year an actor/actress gets an award and it isn't even close to their best work.
