Mother Can’t Believe Airline’s Response To Saggy Pants

his moms failed as a parent, one; not recognizing what can possibly happened how these situations generally escalate too much worst and to avoid her sons incarceration at any and all cost. Secondly; allowing someone to bait her and the son into a confrontation with the airlines and local authorities, she could of told her son to pull up his pants go and about their business, then file a complaint with the local authorities and the faa later. Or simply not take the flight, fly different airlines and be done with it. Now this guy has a record, he’s been processed in the system, not a good look for someone who may be having a staring career in pro-sports.
Pants’ hanging off your ass is not an issue of civil rights it’s a dress code issue a violation in some areas.

its also an issue of classic, respect (for yourself and others) and tact.

I'll never understand people's insistence on controlling how another person chooses to carry themselves.

You don't sag? Neither do I, but why do care if someone else chooses to do so? That's their prerogative.

You'd have a point if they're exposing skin, but if all they're exposing is cotton, then STFU and mind your business.

He wants to look like he's in prison, in prison you are under total control of the system. He was not in prison when this happened he was in public. These rules are made in public because there will be an idiot (usually a nigga) who will not know he is supposed to look normal when he is around other normal people. Some people have no home training or are not smart enough to know how to dress or act in public. Then rules like this are put in place to help them understand..

There are some aaaaaaaangry dudes up in this thread

I'll chime in again...PULL YO GOTDAMN PANTS WHEN YOU GO OUT IN PUBLIC, AND YOU WON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS.

Some of ya'll killn' me. If you're on the young man's side, then donate some money towards his legal fund.

All bullshit aside, it's a damn plane! Everybody knows at the airport you have to be on your p's and q's... If anything makes the other passengers uncomfortable then you gotta abide by the rules.

After watching the video.. I still can't decide.... I would have to know how he acted before hand.... The proper way would have been to get off the plane and then file complaint and improper procedure. Saggin pants and wearing pajama pants in public should be illegal smh

Except I see white people wearing pajama pants outside all the time. ESPECIALLY college age white kids. However, what I don't see is them getting thrown off planes for it, and yes I've seen them on planes, and I damn sure don't see those same white kids, boys and girls, getting ARRESTED for it.

I saw it this morning lmao. In the bank. smh.

The problem i have with this is a lack of understanding black people in this country seem to have. Do i believe the young brother was harrassed? Definitely. It wasn't just. It wasn't fair. But we as a black people have GOT to realize that this is not a JUST or FAIR world we live in.

This is a caucazoid run country. And as long as they are running things? Stuff like this is going to happen.

The young brother should've pulled his pants up. But lets not pretend that he is being discriminated against either. Just because we don't like the sagging pants thing, doesn't mean it should be ok for him to be persecuted.

Who was it that said i may not like what you have to say but i will defend to the death your right to say it?

Many black males seem to not understand this concept.

Hell i don't like many guys on this board but neither will i sit by and let them be persecuted for something like this either.

I'm a proud brotha in America its called have standards, class and self respect. He got checked he was crying out for help. I thank God my parents said no to that ghetto shit (sagging pants crying racism when u get called out for it). I'm raising my God kids to not associate with the ghetto behavior that prevails in OUR community. They aren't comfortable around kids from the inner city.

Black people get exactly what they deserve,

folks talk constantly about man this, father this....and the men on hear lean back when cops get involved

that dude should have pulled his pants up, HE DID, it should have stopped there

but now a kid with good grades, obviously has a good head on his shoulders, since he wasnt wilding out, not is processed, now is in the system and is all over the internet because of this

going on that job interview is going to reaaal easy now (sarcasm of course)

that bitch doesn't count. I see the BIGGER PICTURE AND I AGREE WITH THE BIGGER PICTURE.

I still can't believe this is a fucking debate. Are any of you parents of black males? Those defending this shit can't be -- at least I hope you're not. :smh: :smh:

You teach your sons that life is hard enough as a black male in this country. You already have a bulls eye on your back. You have to work ten fucking times harder and walk an even narrower path than whites. People died for you to carry yourself with fucking respect and dignity. CAC will stick it to you any chance they get, don't make it easy for them.

You also tell them something like......

 "If I ever, ever, ever fucking catch you with your fucking pants pulled around your knees doing this ghetto asseed, hood assed, faggoty ass, jailhouse yardbird fuckery I will beat the living shit out of you!!!!!"

Can you imagine your son calling you talking about he got ARRESTED after he DIDN'T COMPLY(he didn't get arrested for sagging you dumb fucks) with a request to pull up his fucking pants...............SOMETHING YOU TOLD HIS ASS HE SHOULD NEVER HAVE TO BE TOLD BY ANOTHER HUMAN BEING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You represent not only yourself, but my parenting skills and you proceed to embarrass us both in front of the nation?

There simply is no way that parents of black males are defending this shit. This cat wasn't confronted about being black. He wasn't confronted about a religious piece of clothing. He was confronted about something all responsible black parents DEMAND their kids do not do. THIS BULLSHIT SAGGING SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Being black is tough enough in America, adding ignorance to that equation can make it a nightmare.

I feel you, that's why I've always been against the little city ordinances that some politician always comes up with which ends up criminalizing Black youths and Black youth culture.
But in THIS particular incident, the boy was wrong. He was inappropriately dressed in the first place (pajama bottoms? Really, bruh?) and wasn't even wearing that well. When flight crew ask you to do something, either do it or get off the plane. Those are your options. This isn't your campus where people might let you get away with shit because your a BMOC. The crew has hundreds of people to care for and they are not going to play around with you.
Fuck fair, there is no "fair".

Good.. pull up your fuckin pants you lil homo ass niggas... The arrest was appropriate for the lil faggit's actions.. you waste time and money when asked to leave the plan and it takes you 15 mins? now your tresspassing.

you take your hate for laws to the ghetto. My nephews were arrested. They don't sag nor do they act like thugs.i agree with laws that target the ghetto.

I never understand why black folks are so quick to defend stupid shit. Maybe its just me, but I had the type of parents that would knock my ass the fuck down if they saw me walking around with my pants around my knees. And personally ive always thought it looked retarded.

The best response yet.

Its starting to get into a he said / she said type of thing. The couple of thing that are interesting are:

1- This kid wasn't a thug at all and has good grades
2- His older brother is attending West Point on a academic and athletic scholarship so you can't say he comes from a bad family

ESPN writer wrote a good piece on the incident that can be found here:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/commentary/news/story?id=6673284

I just commented on his legal options...in my humble opinion. I never said he came from a bad family. I really don't know one way or the other. He sounded intelligent from what I saw in the video, which makes this all the more perplexing. Was this worth ending up in jail for refusing to either pull up his pants or get the fuck off the plane? Now he has jeopardized everything and for what: a ridiculous and low class fashion statement. Don't you think he might be rethinking the wisdom of his decisions.

Calif. Airport Arrests Man for Saggy Pants, But This Guy in Women’s Panties is Okay
LiveLeak-dot-com-01ca9b64d1cf-airline-man.jpg.resized.jpg

Last week, we brought you the controversial story of a college football player who was arrested when he refused to pull up his sagging pants while boarding a plane. According to a spokesperson for the airline that called the police, US Airways, the airline forbids “indecent exposure or inappropriate” attire. Fair enough. So how does the airline explain letting a man in women’s panties fly without incident, and despite customer complaints, just days earlier?

The man pictured above flew through the San Francisco airport six days before the saggy-pants incident with 20-year-old Deshon Marman. Jill Tarlow, a passenger who took the picture, turned it over to the airline to complain. And according to her, others did as well. The airline, however, ignored those complaints. And it says it was right to do so.

“We don’t have a dress code policy,” U.S. Airways spokeswoman Valarie Wunder told the San Francisco Chronicle. “Obviously, if their private parts are exposed, that’s not appropriate. … So if they’re not exposing their private parts, they’re allowed to fly.”

So what about the incident with Marman? All indications are that he wasn’t arrested for exposing his “private parts,” but rather for displaying his boxers. And then refusing orders to pull his pants up.

Wunder declined to comment to the Chronicle about that question and incident.

“It just shows the hypocrisy involved,” Joe O’Sullivan, Marman’s attorney, told the Chronicle after he viewed the photo of the cross-dressing man. “They let a drag queen board a flight and welcomed him with open arms. Employees didn’t ask him to cover up. He didn’t have to talk to the pilot. They didn’t try to remove him from the plane — and many people would find his attire repugnant.”
He added, “A white man is allowed to fly in underwear without question, but my client was asked to pull up his pajama pants because they hung below his waist.”

Still, the airline did clarify one thing in Marman’s case.

“The root of the matter is, if you don‘t comply with the captain’s requests,” spokeswoman Wunder told the Chronicle, “the captain has the right to handle the issue because it’s one of safety.”

But that begs the question: Wasn’t the whole incident started over his sagging pants? As video of Marman’s incident shows, the captain did, in fact, request Marman pull up his pants. And when he didn’t, things went down hill from there.

So, is there a double standard being used here?
