Thanks for this OP!

I have read/heard that if you read his book, it is enough to pass the test. At least version 5. I was going to take it 2 years ago but got caught in learning the CCNA. Its a good cert for DOD jobs....

What Certs do you have already?
I had several, 4 MTA's, ITIL Foundation, Security+, CCNA. I posted a picture of the certs in another IT thread on here. I can't remember which thread it was. When I moved to Atlanta I worked outside of IT and let Security+ and CCNA expire. I've decided to get back in it so I enrolled in a live online IT boot camp with TrainingConcepts. So far I completed Security+, Cloud+ and CISSP. I also have a MBA in Information Technology Management(Security)

Good drop. I already have the cert. Got some cool jobs with the basic certs and degree. Never had an IT Mgr gig. You have to prove yourself deserving on the job performance. I live in a region where a security clearance would be dope.

Seriously. We need a cert thread or area on BGOL. There are people looking to get in the field that could use guidance. There are others looking to better themselves that could use direction. There is a guy on Youtube I have followed named Duan Lightfoot. He has good content. He has been making great videos lately.

Thanks Fam. I took the exam today. There is a lot of material in this drop that is word for word. The only thing it don't help with are the exam simulators. I just skipped those and didn't even bother to answer. The exam simulators account for a lot of points. That's why the score was so close but I knew I had enough to pass.

Can yall recommend a good Sec+ bootcamp course to take on Udemy?? So many to choose from.. I plan on taking the exam very soon

Mike Myers has a Udemy course as well. Daryl Gibson has a book you can buy sy501 or sy601. The 501 exam is being retired in July 2021. I recommend starting with professor messer on YouTube. It’s free and he is a beast!

There is already a thread for it. Cyba started it a few years ago. I was already working in IT.....first as a Sr. Desktop Engineer.....then a System Admin...jumped in that thread and started working on my certs. Sec+, CSA, CISSP, CEH, AWS Solutions Architect......got my TS DoD clearance ....and its been gravy since. Got two jobs working remotely doing Cybersecurity.....both paying 6 figures. This site has helped me exponentially.

How were you able to get your clearance?

I'm taking Cloud + next week and then CISSP by the end of February. I completed the IT Bootcamp 2 weeks ago. When I left My SysAdmin position in Quantico and moved to Atlanta, I let my Security + and CCNA expire thinking I wanted to do something different. By this summer when covid dies down I plan on having around 15 Certs and get a Gov position here in Atlanta.

How were you able to get your clearance?
i started working at Raytheon last year......and with them being a missile defense contractor for the DOD, you have to have a TS clearance to work there. i left in January of this year and started with the jobs that I'm at currently, but my clearance is still active for the next 4 years. Its a great asset to have on your resume.

I thought clearances didnt transfer from company to company.
