Vitilago typically doesn't take away all pigment, it leaves one splotchy/mottled. Some choose to use makeup to even out the coloring and otehrs choose to remove all pigment to make it even. Even so, Michael would have still had the features of a Black man with a White man's skintone. Thus one can see a need to change your appearance to match the skintone. It is caused by stress as well as genetically and I think lupus can trigger it as well. If the lightening cremes use mercury in them then it could also help to explain his erratic behavior because mercury poisoning will cause brain damage. That is where you get the phrase "mad as a hatter" because the making of certain types of hats in the past used mercury as a fixative of some sort. The mercury drove the hatters mad, and maybe Michael too?
Michael probably also changed his looks to distance himself from his father's looks. Then his brothers and sisters followed suit (probably to sub-consciously downplay Michael's changes and also stay connected to him) which made him have to go even further away from the family look. Some of them even tried to lighten themselves with chemicals while others married White or Latin/Hispanic in order to change the appearance of their offspring.
Michael was a fragile soul from the start. But he was severely damaged by the teasing of his daddy, brothers and sisters, the stresses of being the star he was and staying there, taking care of ALL of his "C/D list" family members after he left them in the dust and the need to hid the fact that he probably was bi or simply gay. (even moreso once his star began to shine more brightly) ... All of them except maybe his mother had a hand in making him the way he became. He never really had a childhood, and used drugs to take away the pains, mental and physical.

I can't agree with the business part. Unless it's business move acted out of frustration. Michael was upset with the success of OFF THE WALL. He wanted a bigger break out success. His calculated collaboration with Quincy Jones was not coincidental. He boasts that the entire album aimed for nothing less than classic material.

Not to debate or to advocate what MJ did to himself (for which I totally disagree...he was beautiful and didn't need any of those things). I have to ask--what are your feelings on the billion dollar tanning industry for whites? Every white person I know hates their white skin and does everything to get brown, even risking skin cancer. The issues that Michael Jacksons situation brought to light exposed the deep schism that exists within the hearts and minds of so many of our people so it doesn't really make sense to just turn a blind eye to a truth just because it doesn't match up with your immediate opinion.

I don't think he hated being black, I think he had a vision of what the ultimate performer should look like, and he was striving for that. Also when you couple in his skin disease, which is a combination of stress, and genetics that supports everything that we see. If you can remember how really bright and pale Mike looked during the trial ( his stress levels where high). I think the straight hair was just him fitting in to what he though was fitting for his characters. His straight hair is no different than

Mike did things to show he had issues with blackness. Hell the whole family. But somebody explain why Michael would fake having children? Fact is those kids have no JACKSON DNA IN THEM. NOT 1%.
