Zab DEFINITELY had the speed and even KO power. all around more talented but people forget that having DISCIPLINE is a talent too
Speed is a toss up ,Power i'd give him but all around more talent Hell No. In all other areas May is at least the equal of Zab. And of course as you alluded Mentally in the ring May is gifted way above most fighters we've seen in his era.
Don't get me wrong i got time for a Zab, a Roy Jones a Naseem Hamed but what i like about May is he dosen't just really on his Natural Talent but has stayed dedicated to being solid all round when it comes to his Skill set. That was always my problem with RJ, Naz and now Sergio Martinez (though the latter admittedly had a late start).
Just imagine if RJ actually developed a solid orthodox defense and a damn jab and stayed on top of his fundamentals as if he was a mortal like the rest of the chumps he was styling on the majority of his career. The Bhop rematch may have been a lot different. As it was it was like a tortoise and the hair in terms of how they'd progressed. And all though i loved watching RJ i was happy that B Hop got that chance of redemption (I know it wasnt the same RJ but all the same he deserved the shine for his dedication to the craft).
Naz was just like RJ. He could box a bit but fell in love with his power and just fought for the highlight reel. The thing is a lot of the time if he just went back to the basics and worked his opponent a bit more instead of just headhunting he would of got his knockouts sooner i the fight. He'd throw body shots about as Often as Ali.
The only guy who's really shown he can tick all boxes is SOG.
