Season One
10 Episodes
8/10
This series’s debuted back in late 2021. I could not get into it cuz at the time I was overloaded on TV series and just did not have the time.
I have had a number of series come to their finales over the last year and I have done my best not to get sucked into getting into too many new series. Being this is a Taylor Sheridan series, no way could I avoid it. I’m a big fan of his series that he has on Paramount+.
Being I’m most likely the last person to watch this, no need to go in-depth. I started season one on the road this weekend and finished it last night on the road.
The series opens up in the first few episodes with a big unexpected death count of a number of characters that I assumed would be regulars. Taylor has a thing of doing that with his series.
With all of Taylor’s series, he does a good job giving history lessons on America and the dirt it has done throughout its history, without being preachy about. He also does it in a way to not make his White audience uncomfortable.
That sister “Rebecca” who works with Mike,
GOTS DAYUM!!! I would be dumping major amounts of baby batter into her without hesitation. Ol girl ain’t no joke and keeps your eyes glued to the screen.
That White chick “Iris”, they ran her skinny Ass thru the dirt in this season. Her story gave insight into Sex trafficking with White Women.
The rookie CO Sam, definitely qualifies for “Idiot of the Year”. His story shows that being a CO is definitely not for weak minded mofos.
Graphic violence is very high thru-out the season. The show doesn’t hold back and there is a good amount of suspense leading into the violent scenes. I was definitely caught off guard with the prison execution of the Latino prisoner playing out like that. I don’t recall ever seeing a prison execution scene play out like that in film/TV. It was done very well and will have you thinking twice about the death penalty.
The season gave good insight on prison politics between staff and prisoners showing the whole system is corrupt. The last two episodes were done well with the prison riot and closing out the seasons main plot lines.
I will hopefully get to season 2 this summer or fall and watch season 3 as season 4 debuts and plays out.
Looking forward to the next 2 seasons.:16:
