Even though I'm from So Cali, I was saddened to hear that the Oakland A's were leaving after the Raiders left to go to Las Vegas.

OG So Californians are still divided between Rams fans and Raider's fan (I'm a Raider fan myself).

Someone has to really take the reins and guide Oakland (hell LA too) to prosperity. There's way too much LGBTQ+ shit and political corruption in California.

Congratulations to Mayor Lee. I worked for a long time at UC Santa Cruz, and spent many happy weekends in Oakland, and I'll always love the city. She did great work in Congress, and I hope she'll do the same in Oakland.

Lip Service. It is really easy to create a Taskforce. Task forces and committees usually don’t have much power.

IMO Oakland is in really bad shape and things will get worse regardless of who is mayor. Cuts need to be made, businesses are leaving, the Coliseum deal is looking shaky, crime is bad, contracts are coming up,homelessness is bad and our politics prevent the needed changes.

I agree with all of this. This is why I consider myself a moderate politically. In this case, a large percentage of Barbara Lee’s supporters were women. One viewpoint that I’ve heard is that a lot of issues are because of men and a lack of women in power to make decisions from a female perspective. So this was a bone to them. I wouldn’t be surprised if the next Police or Fire Chief is a woman. This ignores that the 2 female mayors we had in the past were bad and the female Fire chief was bad too. The one female Police chief we had got fired and suing Oakland too. The pragmatic approach is to put the best people in the top positions, but Liberals are about what sounds good rather than what is effective.
