'Martin Looter King': Racist posts get cop fired 2 days after being sworn in

An Indiana police officer was fired over a pair of racist Facebook posts.

Social media posts by officer Chaz Foy were deemed so offensive that Marion police chief Angela Haley immediately fired him, reported the Indianapolis Star.

“I do not condone this type of behavior and will not tolerate it,” Haley said in a statement.

Foy was terminated Wednesday, two days after he was sworn to duty with the department.


Both posts were made before he joined Marion police.

“With gas hitting 4.89 and climbing, let’s all take a moment to appreciate better times," read one post, from June 1, 2022, which included an image below the text showing former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin kneeling on the neck of George Floyd.

Chauvin was found guilty in July 2022 of second- and third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in Floyd's killing, which set off nationwide protests against police brutality and systemic racism.

A second image posted on Foy’s Facebook account on April 13, 2021, showed a cartoon image of a Black man titled “Martin Looter King.”
