M3 vs 2010 5.0 Mustang GT

Motor Trend??? really???

give both those cars to real drivers........:hmm:

and shame on them for drag racing a Mustang with a car that has 100 less lbs-ft of torque.........tht right there shows you what shitty drivers they are, the Mustang should have won the drag easy....every time!

yea cuz the m3 is only 2 times more costly :hmm:

Motor Trend declares whoever buys the most ad placement in the magazine over the quarter the winner.

Putting a car with a SOLID LIVE REAR AXLE against a car with a INDEPENDENT REAR SUSPENSION ... really?

apples to oranges that fact the stang still out performs it is still :lol:

Nice comparison, both are nice and nothing beat the sound of a V8 engine and dual exhaust.

The M3 is one of my favorite cars but you have to give it up to Ford for what they've done with the live rear axle. Just like Porsche sticking with a rear engine platform in the 911, Ford has made an ancient platform work about as good as it's going to get. I think it's a big acheivement for the Mustang to run with the M3. Imagine how the M3 owner feels knowing he couldn't outrun a 30k Mustang. I'd like to see what the GT500 would do against the M3. Good post.

fuck the dumb shit..i own an e46 2002 bmw m3 and have driven the e92 m3....its nice...but cant justify it for the price over the e46 m3....i love my car:dance::dance: this is a good video below...

s54 inline 6 from the e46 + boost = game over...thats what im saving for..

Did you watch both videos? They tie to 60 and the M3 Beats it in the quarter mile. And on the first video they tied until someone made a mistake

Why do you think cost = speed? What are you 12?

For stronger resale i'll take the M3...(throw in a Dinan stroker) and i'm good.

C'mon. The pony has always been a straight-line car. Throw a curve in front of it and it's a wrap. M3 is a roadster, made to handle road courses. eg: curves.

The new GT500 would win because of the power advantage, but really it doesn't offer much difference in the way of handling. The new Boss 302 is the handler of the Mustang pack.

The test was actually done by a professional, independent driver.

An E92 M3 and strong resale do not belong in the same sentence.

An M3 is a GT...not a roadster. A roadster is a 2 seater with a convertible or targa top.

Not even gonna watch the video's huh? Just gonna spew dumb shit...
Take a second to educate yourself and you'll see they used a professional race car driver for the comparison.

The e92 V8 will be the last naturally aspirited engine in the M3 lineup for the forseeable future. It will hold good value...and def' much better value than the GT.

It doesn't hold good value. I just saw a fully optioned 08 M3 the other day for under $40,000 that had a sticker of $70,000 brand new! That's damn near a 50% resale hit in 2 fucking years!! You really think that Mustang is gonna lose 50% of its value in the same time span?

Was possibly a Baltimore dealer demo...50% in 2 years is highly unlikely. And yes, i fully expect the GT to have shitty resale in the same timespan.

Quick search of used 2008's on BMWUSA yields, the cheapest e92 M3 @22k miles at $52K. Still stickin' with the soon to be extinct NA e92 M3

I'm not defending the Mustang in the least and I'm a E46 ZCP owner but facts are facts and the M3 doesn't hold its value like it used to...and I'm willing to bet the E92 will depreciate at a higher percentage than the GT (mainly because of the economy).

Watch the video again, the Mustang is tapping the brake. BULLSHIT ASS COMPARISON!!!!

Noticed that as well but i don't believe it was a result of tapping the brakes...instead, i believe Ford either went with pulse width modulation (PWM) on the tail design or it could've been a result of the frame rate.

yeah that new boss looks good and rightfully so it has more power than the gt. Some of the pictures I have seen is different than any other muscle car from the factory (red and black rims and factory mounted gauges). Got 2 love mustangs

Motortrend has always been a BMW dick sucking mag. I love the M3 but they piss me off.

Arguing the resale value of a luxury car is futile. They are gonna lose more of their value faster than less expensive cars. Especially in the first few years. Luxury resale values have never been good unless your taking about a Lexus. Ford resale value has been on a steady increase of the last few years, because of quality improvement. At any rate the test wasn't a comparison of features, but performance. Even though the Mustang lost, it was well within range of beating the M3 that alones makes it an interesting comparison. The M3 has lost some of it's appeal by growing in size and adding a V-8. It's 400lbs heavier than the E46 M3, which is still arguably more desirable.
