DSON User File
  • .duf. DUF file is a DSON User File. The DAZ Scene Object Notation (DSON) file format is meant to be a lightweight format that captures the creation of a scene as a collection of assets with defined relationships

Question, can a DUF. file be sent. It is a saved render from your Daz library?

For instance if it is a V4 model I am assuming that as long as the person you gets the DUF. file will already have V4 base model with the morphs. The only thing missing will be stuff like skin mat, hair, accessories, make up. However you will have a base grey model with the very least the face morph which can then be up to the renderer how they want to move from there on building the model. Just a thought, because if a DUF. file can be sent we can send each other models/renders and grow our collections.
@cashwhisperer especially, I know you :furious: at me because you feel I am holding out. Trust me fam, I got like over 150 models V4 models I made. I also have poses like f/f, f/m, catfight/wrestling poses for V4. I made so much V4 only material though

I rarely make M4 models though, that is reserved for killing/destroying non-black 3d characters, robots, creatures, and monsters. The only M4 model having fun that I will make will be a render of me with my expansive V4 harem:blush:.

So, what kind of work, or jobs would studios use DAZ 3D for, or is it mostly used by freelancers?

Lol, I ain't trippin!

The duf is just data but the texture (runtime folder) maps aren't included, such as the alpha, bump, normal and displacement maps. It's like a Pro Tools Session file, where you have to have the audio files included within the folder. So all of the associated files have to be included.

Does that answer your question?

EDIT: If I were sending you a file through the net I would need to send you all associated install files. Morphs are not included in duf files. They have to be pre-installed on the person's computer.

Here's a list I made:

  1. ANIME
  2. HENTAI
  3. ANIMATED MUSIC VIDEOS
  4. PHOTOREALISTIC 3D
  5. STOPMOTION STYLE
  6. PRODUCT ILLUSTRATIONS
  7. SCIENTIFIC, ANATOMY ILLUSTRATIONS
  8. CHILDREN’S BOOKS
  9. COMIC BOOKS/MANGA
  10. CGI
  11. FAN ART
  12. SLIDESHOWS
  13. GRAPHIC DESIGN PRODUCTS
  14. 3D PRINTING
  15. HOLOGRAMS
  16. VIRTUAL FASHION SHOWS

Daz3d isn't a full-fledged 3d program like Maya, Blender, Cinema 4d, etc. So there are some limitations. But the user content available for the program is endless! And there is a huge community base around the program. Daz was an offshoot of Poser. And Poser was originally made for artists to pose a figure then use it as a reference for getting anatomy correct. But now Daz/Poser has evolved where if you get the right tools, you can do work equivalent of what you see in some major productions.

Could probably be the intro to some hentai porn or some horror shit. Guess it depends on how you look at it.lol

Thanks for answering. So basically you are saying that a file that is sent has to be a runtime. So I guess the next question is have you ever made a runtime for your self-created poses, materials, textures, and objects. I guess what I am asking is what do you think about being a content provider? I know there is always a market for it.

If you want to do it I say go for it. I'm not trying to be a provider because my focus is producing anime right now. I more make presets than runtime packages. If I made a character and it used Genesis Head & Body Morphs, then I would give you a Duf file, along with a copy of Genesis Head & Body Morphs and any texture files used, and make sure the files are linked properly within the Layered Image Editor.

As Tiara slowly waded thru the murky filth that flowed underneath the sublevels of Outpost 17, the hairs on the back of her neck began to stand up. The anger of a botched tech heist slowly began to give way to the feeling that she and the young girl she rescued from level 6 were not alone. It starts in the gut. The pit of the stomach. And if not controlled it can move throughout the body until a person is consumed with fear.

Tiara calms herself and remembers what Butchy told her long ago. "Fear is a feeling" he said. "You feel hot, you feel cold, you feel fear. If you feel some type of way then do something about it. Never let it consume you."

Read that Anomaly comic series he did..even has James Cameron,Robert Rodriguez,Harrison Ford,Quentin Tarantino and Ridley Scott saying good things about it

That's dope and very interesting. I've never been a comic kinda dude, but I sure as hell can put some shit together like that with DAZ.

Got my wheels turning....

:puzzled:

Yeah I have both the Anomaly books. Havent made it thru the second one yet. The art is amazing I just don't like the format. Hardcover coffee table massive, heavy graphic novels.lol. Can't just sit up and read em anywhere. Gotta be on a table or something. I like seeing how he uses the poser figures in different ways. I got damn near all the models he using but he paints over everything to get a different look.

I think Anomaly was optioned for movie production from jump. Like when it first came out. Might take a few years but it will probly get made. The story is not that original tho....it's basically AVATAR.lol

Sheeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttt!!!! Thas the hustle right there bruh. U ain't know?! Shit Netflix paid 140 mil for Rob Lifield catalog. With all these cable channels looking for properties and superhero flics makin so much money. Shit I remember seeing Raising Dionne issue 1 on Indy Planet when it came out. Next thing I know Michael B Jordan doin a series based on it. And a lot of times once a book get's optioned the creators are paid 6 figures for exclusive rights and if the flic does'nt get made within a certain time then they put it back up for grabs and get another 6 figure check from a different studio who has so many years to make the flic. It's a great hustle if you have a property that get's optioned.
