Lauryn Hill's performance last night disappoints audience...

This article was way too negative and hard on Lauryn, as if they never liked Lauryn in the first place.

Seems as if they purposely over exaggerate things. I don't get the feeling things went that bad.

It's only 22 sec. of worth of the concert but whoever wrote this must've hated Lauryn.

This article is bullshit. Press has been negative about Lauryn for years now, ever since she started to go against the grain. They have been trying to paint a negative picture of her ever since she tried to maintain her independence much like how they tried to defame Chappelle.

Her Unplugged album is like one of my top three favorite albums of all times and they said she was unstable when she did that. Fuck dat and who eva wrote dis bullshit!

I went.

Bad can not describe it.
Shit was worse than Junior Mafia rap concert.

I want my money back and I didn't pay for my ticket.

You can't say the author was hating on Hill. Here is another review of the same show that was published in the San Jose Mercury News .

She might as well put on some hoe shit, show some ass cheeks
and sing stupid ass songs about small minded shit like the rest
of these R N B bitches then hunh?

She has a bad habit of being REALLY "late" when performing.... The last time she "played" Vegas @ Prince's nightclub in the RIO, people were told that she was running late 3 hours after the initial time she was supose to go on and then she doesn't even show up to perform....She is "scheduled" to play in Vegas tonight, but after what she did the last time, I'd rather spend my money watching Kat Williams next weekend or catching an Erykah Badu show.

I think you're missing the point, homie. No one wants to hear Lauryn singing the same old R&B bullshit. But people do expect what she makes to be decent, even if it's not what they expected. And this isn't about Lauryn not being able to do what she wants to do. If the label wont release her music, she could have done what other artists have done and just released her music to the public for free or even sold her music on the underground tip. There's plenty of ways that someone of Lauryn's means and connections could have gotten her music out. She hasn't released anything because she chose not to. This is about "The Self Destruction of Lauryn Hill". And she's doing it to herself.

If the record label is not supporting what your current style is, then get out of your contract. But the truth is, no one wants to hear what she's doing right now. There's a good reason that the record labels haven't released any of the material she turned in. "Lose Myself" was sort of a test for Lauryn to see if the interest was still there. But the song is so terrible that it failed the test.

Also, Lauryn has always had an issue with concerts. They've always been sort of hit or miss. And for someone who is trying to mount a comeback- to show up unbelievably late to her concert and then to put on a horrible show...that kind of shows you what her attitude is. She doesn't care. I would think that someone who is trying to get their career back would do everything in their power to show people that you're on point. She's doesn't seem to care enough to do that. Which is her right. But the fans at least deserve your very best, even if it's the songs they don't want to hear. True fans will still respect that.

I don't know about you, but if I spent good money on tickets, waited 2 1/2 hours for the concert, and then you come out sounding like garbage...don't expect me to support you anymore.

Not saying you are wrong, but where did you hear she is worth 50 million today. I would love to see that.

Posted Oct 30, 2003 12:00 AM SO SHE HAS MUCH MORE THAN THAT NOW!!!

Twelve million people bought The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, and Hill was established as one of the great female MCs, a quadruple threat: a rapper as well as a world-class singer, songwriter and producer. She was critically acclaimed and extremely rich. In 1998 and '99, sources say, Hill grossed $40 million from royalties, advances, touring, merchandising and other revenues, and pocketed about $25 million of that. When Hill was thirteen years old, she already knew she would grow up to become an entertainer. In '98, Hill became an international superstar.

I'm not so sure about that. Every Rick James album after "Throwdown" for the most part sounded like...

And he was on some heavy DRUGS.

See you soon. -MM
On that same note Sly Stone was notorious for not showing up or showing up late for many of his concerts. His performances were good though. Lauryn seems to have made a simular mistake as did Anita Baker, stayed out the game too long and made a weak come back. Best way to lose fans.

http://blogs.sfweekly.com/shookdown/2007/06/damn_lauryn_hills_train_wreck.php

In the lobby there was a growing crowd of angry patrons. I passed a lawyer who was collecting names for a petition, and saw a line of security guards backed up against the doors that led to the box office with a crowd of people waiting. Soon thereafter, the police showed up. A fight broke out in the balcony, someone threw up, and a middle-aged woman came limping out of the arena with no shoes on.

WTF happened in that show????

damn what happened! I remember seeing here at a SMokin Grooves concert with tribe called quest, fugees etc and it was crazy! But this shit ...........................................no!

The bginning of the end of Lauren Hill began with the releasse of her MTV unplugged album that included many cuts exposing social injustice in America.

Listen to Mystery of Iniquity and you'll understand why the powersa that be no longer care to promote Lauren or her ideoklogy

PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS LAUREN HILL CUT
lauryn hill - mtv unplugged 2.0 - disc 2 - 02 - the mystery .mp3 - 7.11MB

No person can speak negatively aboout this system and keep their popularity and fanbase. Lauren Hill is 10 yrs older and become very socially conscious most likely due to the rastafarian influence. Her MTV unpliugged was one of her deepest most meaingfful albums if you ask me.

Some posters like to point out negativity probably due to their own shortcomings but to each his own. The media is always gonna shit on those that try to uplift our people and those who are slaves to the media and don't have the mental capabilities to see this will ask how high to jump.

I think that's part of the reason. I think the other reason is that she's in love with a cheat and has 4 kids by him. The fact that she calls Rohan her husband, yet he's still married to another woman and has 2 kids with her.

The fact that former producers filed lawsuits against her and that a former friend publicly admitted that they slept together. Shame on you Wyclef for kissing and telling.

Depression is a serious thing.

Damn Femme those lips are killin' me.

I just have a problem with the public denegration of a sista for the reasons that you have listed here. People talk about Lauren like shes that mafia guy walkin around Lil Italy in a robe and slippers.

Lawsuits from former producers, madly in love w/ one of Marleys sons and she slept w/ a friend. If that makes a sista crazy you need to just rope off he Bronx and turn this shit into an assylum.

Thats all the info u got Femme. ???????? what would we find out about you and your love or life interests if they were as publicised as Laurens Life.

Anyone who has ever read Herbert Hoovers Co-IntelPro papers knows that this has always been par for the course for anyone that has any publicity and speaks out about America. Esp. if you have melanin rich skin.

Both Lauren and to a lesser extent Left-Eye were undergoing plethoral experienvces in there life. Some people want hteir legacy to be a BMW w/ rims, and those more self-less and w/ a higher sense of being realise that their legacy should be more profound.

Don't let the media dictate how you think, read be===tween the lines.

My $0.02

Femme more lip photos please

Yeah , I am going to have to agree with you on this one.

That youtube clip sounded like some hot trash. I would have been hella mad if I paid to see that.

On another note when i went to see Mint Condition a little while back it was--------->

Yeah Im inda pissed at her for being selfish with the music
but it looks like it has come back to bite her dead in her ass.

Is it safe to say these 2 things.
1. She is weak for staying with a dude who aint shit and letting it
ruin your career and the money to support your kids which you say
comes first.
2. She made poor ass decisions and cannot rebound her career as
so much time has passed without her to hold up the soulfilled side
of black music that her style basicly has become obsolete.

Only stations you will hear soul filled music is on Adult Contemp.
which usually cater to old heads like me but I dont evn listen to
that shit because the lack of airplay they give to artist that should
be leading the "neo soul"way such as Bilal Musiq Eryka Lauren
Omar etc.

This performance sounded like someone who does not give a fuck
about rehearsal and is vane to the point of thinking they can pull
anything off. IMHO

Lauren get your shit together or get the fuck outta here.

I'm a HUGE Brandy fan. I hope she makes it over her hurdles.

I always thought she was a sick MC but I think people put her on a pedestal that is way too high. She is a sick MC and a great singer although I personally like her rhymes better than her RnB stuff.

All in all, she's on some shit, drugs or emotional, and I think everyone should just write her off until she comes with heat. What makes her so much more special than any other singer/Emcee?

I could care less if she ever makes a comeback, I'm too busy hoping Rakim will drop another album to even begin to passingly think about Ms. Hill.
