Lamar Odom: "Our aura comes off soft right now."

odom needs to stop saying we & start saying him..this nigga is everything thats wrong with that team..he cannot handle the L.a. lifestyle on & off court..for every Laker loss u can look no further than Lamar in some way..look at every laker loss this season & look at Lamar's points & rebounds that will usually tell u why they lose!

The lakers are soft. Whats more disturbing is the amount of (or lack of) respect opponents seem to have for Kobe in general. I've never seen a superstar get chumped and challenged as much as he does. Its just very telling the lack of respect he demands. On a professional level his talent is undeniable but on a personal level, cats just seem to not like/respect dude.

but the 'disrespect' is coming from dudes who ain't won sheit....THAT'S what's funny. they never make it out the playoffs and get sent home early, but still manage to talk sheit.

they be talkin sheit to the screen, watchin the finals from they couch. they watchin from they couch just like us

Peace,

That's not the point. I can't imagine another All-World NBA cat, at the prime of his career, being completely disrespected by damn near everybody like Kobe. No matter what he's done on the court, cats still think he's a bitch. He just seems to bring out the worst in his opponents.

Friend of mine ran into a cat that played with Kobe in a summer league a few years back. My buddy said all this cat wanted to do was punch Kobe in the face. Here's a man with an opportunity to pick up some gems from one of the finest ballplayers in the history of the NBA and all he wants to do is punch him in his God damned face. That says something.

What's funny to me is that Jordan doesn't seem like the most likable person in the world... http://www.bgol.us/board/showthread.php?t=476603

Also, I'm not sure what compels someone to want to punch someone like that in the face boils down strictly to "he's a bitch," there has to be a huge element of jealousy as well. Which, of course, should also have applied to Jordan.

What makes him viewed as such a bitch? I understand the Shaq/Colorado thing and his not being the best teammate, but it seems far more bitch-like to be so concerned with these things that have no impact on opponents.

Stern definitely deserves the lion's share of the blame for the pussification of the NBA.

Odom is right that the Lakers need to man the fuck up and grow a pair.

Damn right the shit Matt Barnes was doing on Sunday was dead ass wrong, and someone should have checked him: Elbow to the grill, straight up.

On the other hand, the Lakers should expect all teams to play them hard: They are the defending champions.

The team needs to man up and show who is boss. I mean Gasol, Bynum, and others on the team, look and act softer than wet shit paper.

The Lakers are my team, but damn, they need to grow a pair!

A litany of things. Both percieved and actual. Privileged upbringing, being a kid of entitlement. Being a bit of a recluse. Throwing teamates under the bus. Demanding trades. Being a defacto GM (remember one teammate saying to a reporter "ask Kobe, he the GM"). Being uncoachable and selfish (Phil Jacksons words not mine). The comments he made regarding Shaqs extramarital affairs. I just think the perception by many is that he is a punk, a brat, and asshole.

Some of that sounds like MJ to me....... Magic too, to a certain extent.

Go to 1:19.

Shannon Brown is guilty of the kind of bitch shit I see CONSTANTLY in the NBA today.

Contest the lay-up! You're one of three point guards in the rotation, make him earn the two points.

I didn't see the game but I can only imagine the Roethlisbergerian raping that Pau Gasol among others allowed Stoudemire to perpetrate in order to put up 17 points and eight rebounds just in the first quarter.

Looking at Gasol, with four blocks and the aggressive defense that prompted Alvin Gentry's bitch fit-- even with Kobe leading the team in rebounding, nothing for the Lakers big men to be proud of-- it looks like they got tougher as the game went along.

Still, as Tony Korheiser would say, "Shannon Brown-- Go to your room!"

Right, but we all have to remember that when you are on the top consistently the one's on the bottow will try anything to get with you.

Plus some of these new clowns in the NBA are just happy to even be playing against the Lakers, or Kobe for that matter, think about it.

Cat seems to be universally viewed as a fraud. I'm not sure what it is but cats seem to want to try to emasculate him all the time. I think blaming it all on jealously misses something. There are a whole lot of rich/famous/talented cats out there who don't engender this kind of universal disrespect.

says 2 me dude is salty and drippin with hate juice. a lot of dudes have that bullsheit "WHY HIM? WHY NOT ME?'' gene

Maybe. Still, I wonder why none of his teammates seem to rush to his defense. Say I'm a role-player on a title contender. Am I going to allow a cat like Matt Barnes to continuously get at our best player, or am I going to take one for the team and throat-chop his ass?

Again, I think this misses the point. Cats aren't trying to get at EVERY player at the top - so simple jealously can't be the answer. Tim Duncan, Paul Pierce, Dwyane Wade, Lebron, et. al. (all with rings except Lebron) and I don't see them being targeted on a consistent basis.

That nigga look like a Klingon.

Bump for "30 for 30: Reggie Miller vs. the NY Knicks"

This should be required viewing for all NBA players.

Lakers were Dominating other teams this season, until they played the Cavs on christmas day. The Cavs exposed how soft they were..

Selected comments from the thread on the documentary:

peep what he said about starks:

"before the game, for sportsmanship, i go out to shake john starks hand and he wouldn't even shake my hand........from that point on i made it a mission...i'm gonna embarrass this kid"

I respect Reggie Miller's drive and the way he played the game too. Those where the days when the NBA was tough as nails. Those games between the Knicks and Pacers were indeed bloodbaths.

 Loved that shit too. Come on, we know how ruthless a crowd could be sometimes, and players with the shit talking. It was entertaining to me.

NBA is so fucking soft nowadays.:(

WTF Anthony Mason been eating?:lol::lol::lol::lol:

:smh::smh:

dude is looking crazy!!

damn niggaz used to brawl in the NBA

damn watching that old footage shows how soft the NBA is now. Those cats earned those points back in the day!

you wont see a rivalry like this ever again the players today are too friendly on and off the court.

The NBA-- Where PASSION used to happen.

yea.

plus there's no one like miller anymore. not even by a longshot.

Hell if there was anyone in the league like Miller or even Starks, it would be much better than it is now. Those two had heart & didn't care what the opposing fans thought of them.

I disagree with this idea, though...

It's why I, a former Knick fan, like Kobe Bryant.

He leads the league in "I don't give a fuck."

good point. i don't think kobe EVER was one of the most liked dudes on the team, unlike shaq who EVERYBODY on the team more or less liked a lot. i know derek fisher got at somebody last year that took a cheap shot at kobe. the very next play, fish clothed lined that mutha fuka and put him on his back. that's the only laker player i ever saw take it to somebody on kobe's behalf

When the Lakers had Shaq they would fuck people up if they fucked with the purp and gold.

Kobe rarely picks on a player that can actually fight. He chooses players that he is bigger than and does sneaky shit. Thats why Raja Bell neck tied him on a drive after a number of cheap elbows.

His other bad elbows were on sorry white boys that he knew would just whine about it.

He did the elbow shit on Wade one game then Wade elbowed him back. That was the end of that.

The thing with Kobe's bows is that they are not against the opposing team when they are driving to the hole as in a hard foul. They are mostly to intimidate whoever is guarding him and clear space.

Coupled with the fact he throws the team under the bus to shine it isn't hard to see why he isn't defended more by his teammates.

Kobe did that shit to Artest last year in the playoffs and Artest got right in his grill after the no call, Kobe knew Artest couldnt beat his ass cuz Stern would suspend him for all eternity

How old are you?

I am 40 years old and did not enjoy the ugly ball of the 90's featuring b-rated players like the Knicks and Pacers who still live off of their "we played Jordan hard" trophies.

I enjoyed watching hall of famers playing alongside each other like they did in 80's.

artest is no rodman. point blank.some players there will never be another.rodman is one of them.box score? who gives a fuck about boxscores  rodman was the first mma fighter
You don't need another Rodman... You need somebody in that enforcer role. Bill Laimbeer. Charles Oakley, who Odom mentioned.

I don't get to see many different teams between my schedule and the TV schedule's lack of diversity, but I can't think of anybody in the NBA who really fits that description.

I can think of someone now.
