They also had no power forward. The next year Malone retires, Fox retires, Grant is gone. That team was old and it showed. Snaq's numbers have declined every year since then. The only players from that squad still in the league putting up the same numbers are Kobe and Fisher.
Snaq had 2 games where he brought it. 2 and that's it. Snaq was letting Ben Wallace treat him like a bitch every other game in that series.
He quit(working out free throws etc) on the team and wanted to leave. Just like he quit on the Heat, and will quit on the Suns and blame Nash.
You love Snaq, but a Kobe led team has never been swept in a series. Snaq stay getting owned by lesser players.
Go back and look at who carried whom to the finals that year. Kobe did what he always did, play hard and come through in the clutch. Kobe and the rest of the Lakers carried than Ninja and he was too weak and too fat to turn it on against the Pistons.
