The arrangement means that Blackstock, 43, will receive $195,601 in total from Clarkson each month, or roughly $2.4 million per year. The order also requires the singer to pay $1.25 million towards her estranged husband's attorney fees and costs for their ongoing divorce.

A source previously told PEOPLE that Blackstock had been aiming for more than double the amount in support, requesting that Clarkson pay him $436,000 per month ($301,000 in spousal support and $135,000 in child support).

Clarkson is being represented by celebrity attorney Laura Wasser, who recently launched It's Over Easy. The service helps streamline the divorce process for individuals who might not be able to obtain her services otherwise.

Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock

Clarkson filed for divorce in June 2020 after seven years of marriage.

In a declaration to the court obtained by PEOPLE, Clarkson reasoned that she and Blackstock "both deserve the opportunity to build a new life."

A source close to the family told PEOPLE at the time that Clarkson is "pleased" by the custody ruling and that her priority is to protect her children.

"As Kelly has said, her first priority in all of this is to take care of the kids and all the hearts that are involved in this divorce," a second source said. "It's been a hard time for everyone, but Kelly's pleased with the court's ruling regarding custody."

"Divorce is hard and it gets tense for most couples going through it. But Kelly's primary focus is on doing the best she can to protect the kids," the source added. "In this case, she had to fight for them since Brandon and his attorneys were making unreasonable requests."

Throughout the divorce proceedings, Clarkson has reiterated her intent to focus on her kids. In February, the star admitted that coparenting with her ex has been "tough" for her.

"You speak about co-parenting, and I'm doing that right now too," she said on her talk show in a conversation with Khloé Kardashian. "It's tough. ... I know with me and Brandon, it's just a difficult thing because we're in different places, and it's like, we both agree on the main things, but it's hard thing when you're not together all the time, for me personally."

"As long as you make sure it's about the children and their best interests, then we're both on board," she later added.

Brandon Blackstock learned from the best

I got to call it the same, the court system is fuck up. How does grown man/woman get spousal support. It should at least have a expired date. That’s like having a family member live with you due to hard times. Then they end up staying forever until somebody else buys them a house. Laws need to change, Kelly or Dre give them 1-4mil a year and you still can’t get on your feet? GTFOH

Spousal support can last up to 5 years. Mostly, think 24 months. The idea is the spouse without the money will have to have time to transition from living the highlife. They've gotten used to it.

Kelly Clarkson may now be Miss Independent, but she can’t fully break away from her estranged husband. The singer and TV host has been ordered to pay Brandon Blackstock nearly $200,000 per month in support amid their ongoing divorce, after they filed over a year ago in June 2020, according to the Blast. The money comes out to $150,000 in spousal support and $45,601 in child support for their two children, River and Remington, of whom Clarkson has primary physical custody. People previously reported in November 2020 that Blackstock sought more than double that amount in support, $436,000 per month. (Clarkson has celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser, who is representing her, to thank for the decrease.) The order for support came down on July 27 in Los Angeles County Court, and also requires Clarkson to pay Blackstock $1.25 million to cover attorney fees and ongoing costs in the divorce.

According to the Blast, the filing lists Clarkson’s monthly earnings as over $1.5 million, making the $195,000 to Blackstock just a small dent. Blackstock previously worked as Clarkson’s manager since 2007, alongside his father Narvel (the ex-husband of Reba McEntire), and in the wake of their divorce, Clarkson has also accused the team of fraud, arguing they worked as her managers without talent agent licenses and owe her millions. (He denied the claims in a subsequent filing, per Us Weekly.) According to the new divorce filing, Blackstock has “made a very deliberate choice to change his life and become a rancher full-time,” and will be leaving management — aside from the “minimal time” he spends working with his sole client, Blake Shelton. As part of Blackstock’s plans, he will keep the couple’s Montana ranch, which Clarkson previously wanted to sell, and be responsible for around $81,000 per month in payments for the mortgage and upkeep.

According to TMZ, Clarkson asked a judge at the beginning of July to declare her legally single, ahead of ironing out details like spousal support. The outlet said Blackstock has claimed the couple’s prenup is invalid, which is sure to drag out their divorce further. In the meantime, the $200,000 in support is a temporary number, according to the Blast, that could change as the former couple finalize the rest of their divorce in court.

I’m not mad….he pulled a K-Fed. I t warms my heart to see a man getting what a lot of these undeserving women get!

“Blackstock has “made a very deliberate choice to change his life and become a rancher full-time,”

Well played, sir. Well played.

According to Us Weekly, Kelly's monthly salary is $1.9 million—which includes her salary for both The Kelly Clarkson Show as well as The Voice. A source who spoke to the outlet noted that “Kelly is renegotiating her talk show contract and wants a substantial increase.”

Kelly Clarkson's prenup has been validated by the judge in her divorce case

Kelly Clarkson's prenup has been validated by the judge in her divorce case, she found out the good news while she was on the set of "The Voice" and let out a scream, which then gave way to a celebration ... TMZ has learned.

Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ ...Kelly was filming the singing competition Wednesday when she got an email saying the hotly-contested prenup was upheld in full by the judge. We're told the prenup segregates all assets and income derived during her marriage to Brandon Blackstock.

Kelly accumulated the lion's share of assets, including the Montana ranch where Brandon is currently living. He was contesting the prenup and wanted their properties split, along with income she earned during their marriage, but the judge shut him down.

We're told the celebration on the set of "The Voice" got personal. Our sources say Blake Shelton had recently terminated his relationship with Blackstock, who managed him for years.

The other judges who were there, including Ariana Grande, participated in the celebration.

Clarkson's lawyer, Laura Wasser, had argued during the trial on the prenup, that there had to be accountability when someone signs a contract -- in this case, a prenup. The judge clearly agreed.

The divorce has been "bifurcated" -- meaning the actual declaration that the marriage is over has been separated from the property settlement and custody issues. The actual dissolution of the marriage should be finalized within days. Kelly has been awarded primary custody on a temporary basis, because Brandon moved to Montana. It seems by validating the prenup, most issues have now been resolved.

As for the ranch, because the prenup was validated, Kelly -- who purchased it -- now has the right to sell it.

We reached out to Wasser for comment ... so far, no word back.
