Kawhi Leonard reportedly no longer wants to play for the Spurs

?

Everyone had a good year besides Peyton who stuggled with the triangle, Kobe had his rape case going on and missed some games, plus Kobe and Shaq were beefing pubically.
They still got through the gauntlet west and made the finals , then Karl Malone got hurt, had to play Slava Medvedenko's garbage ass heavy minutes, and Kobe hijacked the finals in his beef with Shaq.
Wasnt like that team was trash.

Not even CLOSE to the same situation
I know that team underachieved...but I forgot how they did it....did they make the Finals? That's not bad but I know the bar was higher than that.

Medvendenko I Ain't heard that name in a minute...

Didn't the Pistons sweep them in the Finals ???

LOL, they can’t.

I mean, I guess you could buy NBA 2K18, go into franchise mode as the Detroit Pistons and put together a trade for him. But this is real life. It’s. Not. Happening.

Damn how the hell did this go south so quickly

I don't know, I heard rumors that he has family members in his ear, I think it's an uncle or something like that. One moment they are on the verge of beating Golden State by 20, he get's injured, and they get swept. Next season he doesn't want to play. The Spurs are not going to trade him to the Lakers, the Lakers would have to give up a couple of starters.

I think they'll do all they can to get him out east

What the fuck went wrong? Seemed like it was all love, he was a lock as their franchise guy, then outta nowhere shit went south quick! Did somebody fuck somebody's bitch or what? :dunno:

Well....In San Antonio that sorta thing is kinda common. See Tony Canadian bacon fag Parker and Brent ‘bones’ Barry saga

It looks like the Cleveland Cavaliers are pulling out all the stops in hopes of retaining the best player in the franchise’s history. LeBron James is eligible to opt out of his current contract with the Cavs and become a free agent this summer. While many expect James to pursue greener pastures, the star forward reportedly is “looking for reasons” to stay in Cleveland. The Cavaliers allegedly have contacted the Spurs about a trade for Kawhi Leonard, but the defending Eastern Conference champions might be aiming much higher than just the San Antonio swingman. “They are taking calls from teams looking to move up in the draft via trade, and are seeking proven NBA vets whose presence would both improve the roster and be enticing to James,” Cleveland.com’s Joe Vardon writes. “Cleveland has in fact inquired about Kawhi Leonard’s availability from the Spurs, among others, and league sources suggested Charlotte’s Kemba Walker could be in play for the Cavs.” Although it’s tough to imagine the Cavs acquiring both players, adding Leonard and Walker would be a great sell to James, especially with it sounding like his heart is in Cleveland. It certainly would be an all-in move for the Cavaliers, as Leonard and Walker both have one year remaining on their respective contracts, as would James if he decides to opt in. But in hopes of keeping James in his hometown, while also being legitimate title contenders, the Cavs might decide the blockbuster(s) is worth it. Thumbnail photo via Soobum Im/USA TODAY Sports

Sources: Disgruntled Spurs star Kawhi Leonard, Gregg Popovich met Tuesday in San Diego

The meeting between the two faces of the Spurs’ franchise was done professionally and confidentially, league sources said.

Yahoo Sports reported on Friday that Leonard wants a trade from the San Antonio Spurs organization.

Leonard, a two-time All-Star and two-time Defensive Player of the Year who was the 2013-14 NBA Finals MVP, played just nine games with the Spurs this past season after acrimony with the franchise about the condition of his lingering quadriceps injury.

The Spurs’ front office and Leonard’s representatives had been in communication since the season ended, and Leonard has been in contact with coach Gregg Popovich, league sources said. Leonard spent most of the second half of the season rehabbing his injury in New York, where his medical team was based and where he trained with Spurs staffers. He has returned close to full health from the lingering quad injury.

Leonard attended the private memorial service for Popovich’s late wife, Erin, in San Antonio after the season ended, and he interacted with team officials.

Leonard, 26, is under contract for two more seasons and owed $41.4 million, but has a player option for 2019-20.

He was drafted 15th overall in 2011 and when healthy is regarded as the league’s best two-way player.

Leonard had his finest season in 2016-17, when he averaged 25.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists and shot 38 percent from 3-point range.

Apparently Kawhi told Pop to fuck off....

Rumor: Kawhi Leonard directly told Gregg Popovich he wanted to leave Spurs

Kawhi Leonard and Spurs coach Gregg Popovich met in San Diego yesterday.

transparent-320x50.gif

How did the discussion go? Reports have been mixed about even the nature of the meeting, let alone a resolution from either side.

But here’s an update with a reportedly direct conclusion.

Stephen A. Smith on ESPN:

From what my sources told me, Kawhi Leonard met with Gregg Popovich face-to-face, looked him dead in his face and told him “I don’t want to be here. I don’t want to be in San Antonio any longer.”

Leonard put out word he wanted to leave San Antonio, ideally for the Lakers, last week. There was some hope Popovich could mend the relationship, but that seems to running thin. There is so much bitternessbetween both sides.

The next question: What do the Spurs do about it?

transparent-320x50.gif

Do they keep trying to ease tension with the 26-year-old superstar? Do they trade him? If so, when? Before or during the draft?

No matter what Leonard told Popovich yesterday, San Antonio has big decisions to make and soon. Leonard firmly stating a desire to leave would be clarifying, but it’d hardly make this situation easy to handle.

LA initially wanted to be dealt back to portland (sometime last year i believe) although he would up staying. Something in the water in san antonio lol

Yea he did want to go back, he told Pop and Pop said, "Fine if you get me Lebron James or Kevin Durant I'll have you on the first plane outta here, if not they we can talk about this"
(Maybe not in those words but y'all should be able to get the picture)

No way the Spurs are handing him over to the Lakers.

That's like helping the nigga that's been trying to holla at yo wife pick out some thongs for her. In short..."fuck I'mma help you out for niccuh? I see what you tryin to do"

Its really no rush to get a deal done before draft with Lakers. Their assets are already on the roster. Teams using draft picks as assets need to get a deal done pre-draft.

If im dan Gilbert I'd take that chance to trade the 1st, TT and Clarkson for Kawhi and a future pick....

Other teams won't take that chance of him leaving, but I'd be getting rid of salary if it don't work out....

But boy if it does....

Granted I'm behind a screen name talking.....

But we do know Gilbert front office have been the most active over the last 4 years....

Spurs wont take any of that trash. But they do need to be active in moving that pick.. Package it with the best asset in Love and try to get better. Keeping a #8 pick wont rlly do much either way. Minus whale swing for the fences and hope it gets Bron to stay.

They say Howard will try to negotiate a buy out with Brooklyn. Cavs getting a player and going after Howard is an improvement over what they have.

Cavs seem like they ain't moving lil Kev, that would likely push Lebron out Thebes's door for sho....no matter if they get Leonard.
Calling that trade trash is kool. But what other team is desperate/bold enough to do that shit knowing how dude feels about The lakers...

Fuck getting a lottery pick and two players vs nothing is great trash or not...

Do Boston take a chance shipping a pick and brown for Leonard
They haven't showed to be rush takers like that

Is philly that desperate to get Leonard and willingly to risk a player(likely Fultz) and a pick

Shit in those teams case they don't have to trip, they ain't trying to convince no one to stay and retool at the same time

Bruce Bowen rips Kawhi Leonard: 'Not one time has he said anything'

Bruce Bowen, who won three NBA titles with the San Antonio Spurs, took Kawhi Leonard to task for his dealings with the team this year, saying "there's nothing but excuses going on."

Speaking on Sirius XM NBA Radio Thursday night, Bowen said: "First, it was, 'Well I was misdiagnosed.' Look here: You got $18 million this year, and you think that they're trying to rush you? You didn't play for the most part a full season this year. And you're the go-to guy, you're the franchise, and you want to say that they didn't have your best interest at heart? Are you kidding me?"

Leonard played just nine games this season because of a quad injury. News of his desire for a trade surfaced last week after he told confidants he no longer wanted to play in San Antonio.

  • The Spurs chose Lonnie Walker IV of Miami, going with an athletic, versatile guard amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Kawhi Leonard.
"I think he's getting bad advice," Bowen said. "I think what you're starting to see now is an individual given a certain amount of advice, and it's not the right advice. Here it is: You were protected in San Antonio. You were able to come up during a time where you still could lean on Tim [Duncan] Tony [Parker] and Manu [Ginobili]."

Bowen was a fixture in the starting lineup and on All-Defensive teams as San Antonio won championships in 2003, 2005 and 2007. The former ESPN analyst is now a game analyst on LA Clippers broadcasts.

Bowen said Leonard has not been forthcoming about his issues with the team.

"Not one time has Kawhi come out and said anything to the effect of, 'You know what, hey, I really enjoy being in San Antonio.' Or, 'I can't stand what's going on here in San Antonio,' " Bowen said. "Not one time has he said anything."

Bowen also said he thought Leonard's decision to rehab in New York instead of with the team was a problem.

"As a player, if I'm a leader of a team, my team goes on the road in the playoffs, I'm with my guys," he said. "Because that's what it's all about. It's about camaraderie. It's about fellowship. It's a brotherhood. When that didn't happen, it's all kinds of sirens and alarm signals that says to me, 'Is this person fully vested?' ... I don't want to take on a player who's not willing to support his guys during the course of their time needing him."

Spurs general manager R.C. Buford said Thursday night that the franchise's desire is to keep the disgruntled Leonard in the fold but that the club "will explore all of our options."
