Presidents dont make openings on the court so why should he get credit. Also if he gets more picks they will be under conditions that will force him to be more moderate in his picks then he has been. He should have saved Kagan for that time and chose a real liberal now.

He shouldn't be. Obama has either achieved or made moves on nearly every major initiative he ran on. I'm overly disappointed but not surprised that he reversed himself on a some national security issues but the checklist is impressive: health care reform, financial reform, winding down two wars, signing several major new laws that were stuck in Congress for years such as the Ledbetter Act.

You show your political ignorance with this statement. He has to reach out to Republicans for two reasons: he ran on a platform of reaching across the aisle and changing the culture of Washington and he has to at least make overtures to the opposition party. That way when they rebuff you (as the GOP has done repeatedly), it's not on you, it's on them. Second, he should reach out to try to find at least a few GOP votes so he's not reliant on the Democrats, who have shown themselves to not be trustworthy. It's not Republicans who have watered down health insurance reform and financial reform, it was the Ben Nelsons and Blanche Lincolns in the Senate, Democrats, who have made their numbers meaningless. Grabbing an Olympia Snowe makes Ben Nelson a non factor.
