Just survived a shootout. UPDATE: Just lost my "nephew"

There are people ground pounding relentlessly asking for a shootout because they are retarded.

When you are in high school there is a branch of people heading to prison, drug usage/overdose, crime, getting killed for being retarded, shooting people for no reason, serial killer, rapist.

When you get to college past your junior year on forward, that is when all the garbage is filtered out and you are around people that are more self aware. This is why the wealthy gate their shit up because they know.

@killagram glad you are ok through your dustup as well.

Even though you swoll try to avoid conflict brother.

You remind me of the late great Vernon Forrest, a great brother and boxer who died so unnecessarily. Please don't leave us over disrespect. Cause these folks live for today with no thought of anyone else.

I've been trying to process what could have been done to avoid this. There were a good amount of armed security there.

Oh the Mayor was there as well and spoke at the graduation.

All the security was inside or just outside the main doors...none were in the parking lot where the brawl occurred.

To their credit they came out after they heard shots fired and engaged one guy (I believe) and took him down.

Guess in hindsight they needed a couple of officers in the parking lot.
Yeah, ain't nothing fools like better than when the event is covered but folks thrown to the wolves outside. Entire plots to fuck people up develop over that kind of security setup. :smh: Don't mean gunfire will erupt, but a fight is going to at least happen.

Man, I came down here to celebrate a girl I've known since she was 11, becoming a woman and graduating with high GPA and honors. Full scholarship to a great University. And this happens on her day.

Funny thing is how unbothered by it she is. This is one of the best schools in New Orleans but the gun culture affects everyone the same.
That ain't gun culture, that's hood culture. Simple as that. Guns just make the violence easier and end up with innocent people dead.

Sadly, I said many times on here how I was in the suburb and it got to us out there. You do quickly become indifferent to it(like you mentioned about her). It is what it is. You either get stepped on, do the fucking stepping, or become cool with those doing the stepping while laying low(male perspective, girls usually don't worry about shit and ain't running around blazing cats).

Schools become irrelevant. Who do SOME of the students hang around after? If they aren't geographically far away from the nonsense, the nonsense will likely find a way in. Because Urkel might be Odog's cousin.

One lesson that is quickly learned is everyone seems to have a cousin or someone they can call that will be willing to take it there. So 2 students can have a beef, 99 percent of the time the shooter is someone one of the students bring into the mix. :smh:

Hate that it's like this. Story after fucking story man. Hope you and yours stay safe.

I OD'd and is just waking up to this..

I'm glad the OP is safe and is very sorry about the lady who passed away, I saw the pic of her on social media and this is very upsetting up but this is the second or so incident of a graduation either turning into a brawl or getting shot up.. Something needs to be done

So what I'm hearing happened is....

2 female students had long term beef. They got into it in the parking lot after the ceremony. One girl directed her mother to get involved and the other mother joined the fight.

Yes...mothers of graduating students made this shit pop off.

Many people were trying to pull them off each other. Someone pulled out, started the shooting and grandma was hit crossing the street. 2 males were hit, one in both legs, the other in the shoulder.

All so unnecessary. And another high school had a brawl at graduation at Xavier 11 days ago...Crowder high I believe.

I think one in Hammond as well.

And there you have it!

In certain situations, a good guy with a gun is useless, just like the police have demonstrated.

In other situations, being strapped CAN give you a fighting chance, but there are simply NO GUARANTEES when it comes to sudden breakouts with firearms. Anything can happen. Much can go wrong. And the best circumstance is to avoid being in vulnerable situations.

Agreed. I tell my daughters if you see two strangers get into an argument in the middle of a club leave once. If things get out of hand you don't want to be a witness or a victim.

You can start this clock in middle school. Some kids aren’t given a fair chance

When I went to Austin I asked the Hotel clerk should I be worried about walking in certain areas because he had told a white guy right beforehand not to walk in certain areas. Dude tells me no you're from New Orleans, Louisiana you should be good. I didn't know how to take that like should I be offended or take it as a complement. Which is probably how your friend is taking it. New Orleans has been the murder capital several times. People get shot by Crowder and other parts of the east just coming home from work it is what it is.

imma ol' head from the 16th ward, my hood is ironically know as " graveyard " .....
