Just saw Django [MERGED~> !SPOILER ALERT!]

I dislike the careless exploitation of the black experience to tell this story.

This movie lacked cleverness and creativity.

Kerry Washington had one page of dialogue in a movie nearly 3 hours long.

Jamie Foxx had 3 pages of dialogue in a movie nearly 3 hours long.

This movie was inauthentic on so many levels.

I have never been subjected to slavery but I know the downtrodden. They certainly develop an Us vs Them mentality.

Django never displayed an Us moment in the movie. Django was the most un-black and indifferent character in the movie.

Django didn't organically display any sympathy, affection or passion toward his black wife until the very end of the movie yet he was willing to kill and die for her return.

Furthermore, he never displayed a hint of urgency to reclaim his wife during his time with the Doctor. Upon seeing his wife for the first time in a year, she fakes after he calls her a troublemaker. His connection to her seemed so robotic and fake. He only responded to her suffering with anger. Where was the compassion and humanity of Django hiding during the film?

I didn't care about Django and Hilda in a movie called Django Unchained.

These are some of the reasons why this is a shit movie.
I say wrong and you need to re watch the film...

Moonlight had more lines than Hildy. And the way he walked off screen after grabbing a man nuts moved the story along further than anything by Hilda.

She was in the sweat box all day and didnt even look like it. Where was the exaustion? And for the love of me why were some people teeth nice and pearly white and some of them had rotten teeth?

I disagree with this but think your analysis has alot of valid points. The dentist told him to play a character in order to get away with the scam there was a couple of times he was bout to pull that pistol out and get at folks but he kept it holstered due to his role he was playing.

Plus she showed tons of passion for her especially when she was getting whipped and the back & he stepped in front of the shotgun. Alot of movies is really hard to have a genuine romanace i can't remember the last movie that i saw and was like "damn they really in love" maybe love and basketball.

I feel you but I just didn't feel the urgency to rescue. I only saw a need to pop off.

I like how the movie, Taken, demonstrated how Liam's character was displaying an ongoing sense of dread with his daughter being taken. He acted with purpose but there was an underlining sense of urgency and a display of love and compassionate when he reunited with his daughter.

The reunion in the upper room was too sterile and unrewarding.

Django was too vacant like his wife was more his stolen property than his woman.

Its just me.

But where in the da hell was Django's cape.

Leo stole the whole show. Schultz was just an extension of his Inglorious Basterds Nazi Colonel character. Leo had the lines & the dialogue scene stealers. When he says "SOOOOOOOOLD" Goddamn, diabolical

Django character was too much of a High Plains Drifter knock off for me. :hmm: But the cinematography was on point. The ridiculous blood spray avant garde ballet got a little bit tedious. Everywhere there were blood fountains

I can see where there wasn't a sense of urgency but do you really think Django was ready to go after his wife just after a couple of bounties. I believe they tried to build up his character just a lil if he went from two bounties to saving his wife it would haven't been realistic. I still don't know how you didn't see Django had a sense of dread for getting her back tho its not like he could have showed that at all at Candies Plantation or Stephen would have easily found out he knew Hilda. Hell even the white lady noticed their attraction even without him being overly compassionate to Hilda. I agree that the reunion pretty much sucked i liked the one at the end of the movie alot better.

I agree with your assessment of the relationship between Django and his wife..
There was more passion displayed between Tim Roth and "Honey Bunny" Amanda Plummer in Pulp Fiction..
I'm not sure if that was due to Tarantino's direction or Jamie Fox's lack of acting ability...I'm inclined to think the later.

Tarantino is not one for deep and meaningful movies, he's all about creating a style.

All that said, I still enjoyed the movie for the most part..

When were they supposed to display all this affection in an environment that required them to act like they DIDN'T EVEN KNOW EACH OTHER!

You're forgetting that Dicaprio's sister noticed some chemistry between them and she commented on her only having eyes for Django.Steven noticed that she knew him and guessed that she was his wife.....that infers 'it' was supposed to be there, but it wasn't translated in their acting.

Anybody know who Denzel Washingtons daughter played in the movie?

on the crew

Who was the girl in yellow dress that kept waving to Django??

are you serious

Ok...a very understated chemistry....obviously not something overt...maybe
