Just saw Django [MERGED~> !SPOILER ALERT!]

Re: Tariq Nasheed reviews 'Django Unchanged'

Didn't read Thru All 12 Pages Of this post to see if this was mentioned...

But did anyone else notice or find it ironic that Tarantino's Character was the ONLY white who NEVER formally used the word "******" in his dialogue throughout damn near the entire movie??

Just something I noticed... :dunno:

Formally??
Did he use it informally?

I noticed it.. None of the Aussie captors said the word ******.. They used "Blackie"...

:yes::yes::yes:

I think that might have been Richard Pryor on his live at sunset strip show.

You're right! Eddie's was about White men feeling themselves after watching "Rocky".

Eddie's joke was his "bail that cotton" routine on his Raw stand up concert. It wasn't directly referencing roots but the popular sentiment since that show of black people bragging on what they would have done if they were slaves.

I'll try to find the clip but can't do it right this minute.

Yeah. But they were also considered the worst slaveowners.

Oh. I remember that one too.
Damn "Raw" was funny.

Yeah I noticed I was waiting for it to fly from his lips. I think a lot of us were. I hear he has a lot of Aussie friends so I find it funny he didn't have any of them say ****** despite being the worst slavers. But I'm not too hung up on who uses that word because actions speak louder than words.

Not surprised at all, especially if it's coming from the right.

I felt Tarantino did a lot with this movie to attract more black movie goer fans in handling the Django character. Django carried a lot of dignity as a character. He never let any white man get over on him the entire movie. I'm sure a lot of white people will feel some type of way about that and will point that out as point of contention about the movie as to how unrealistic it was.

Preview just came up on my tv.

all the white folks are nominated.

Christoph Waltz
Leonardo DiCaprio
Tarantino.

oh man white people are funny.

No love for Kerry Washington's performance huh? Interesting.

i love kerry and she did what was asked of her but that wasnt an award nominating type proformance. She wasnt really asked to do much.

but Sam L deserves a couple of nods in my opinion
his character, Waltz & Leo stole the movie.

i can see Jaime not getting to much love come award season cause his character was effectively the 'straight-man' and every one else had showier roles

Nigga was used just as much as you here in your local barber shop.... The movie was the shit

Nope. She was barely in the film. Sam Jackson and Jamie deserve nominations, but Christoph Waltz is no fucking joke. This dude stole the show again just like he did in Inglorious Basterds.

Re: Tariq Nasheed reviews 'Django Unchanged'

It's a simple excuse to say that's what QT thought.

Those particular scenes are meant to get a visceral reaction from people. That entire scene was meant to show that people really thought like that, and openly.

The way the slaves were portrayed in the film showed them to be people on an equal level, and not subhuman. Some were just ignorant of their plight. Sam Jackson's character is actually much sharper than Leo's. just look at the way he was sitting in that seat schooling Candie, and how he talked to him.

It felt like HE ran that house, not Candie.

You guys missed so much.

Jacksons character and his last scene were spectacular because that message has always resonated with me. People like Jackson's Stephan, the oppressed who side with the oppressors and their oppression, have always angered me. His end was beautiful.

He was quick to leave when he thought it benefitted him, but once given the opportunity he was basking in his ignorance. People never change. They just die.

Re: Just saw Django [MERGED]

I'm glad someone brought up GG cuz the board flocks like wild beasts to that nasty CAC racist bullshit but are now up in arms over this?

:lol: My nigga Met. Regardless of all the shit talking I had with you in the past, you cool with me bruh.

not surprising ever see Boss ******? A western with contemporary soul and pop music all throughout..now you know all QT does is mashup throwbacks:rolleyes:

Yes I have never noticed the soundtrack was contemporary soul for that time though. I know he's good for mashups with film ideas and composing shots but didn't expect it with the music.

Finally saw it today and Id give it 2 stars out of 4, and that's being generous. Easily one of the most overrated movies of the year.

The "comedic" parts weren't funny and the plot made no fuckin' sense whatsoever. Jamie Foxx carried the latter part of the film and if anyone deserves a nomination, it should be him.

that shit was funny as hell when he blasted miss sally:lol:

   Yeah the whole theater laughed at that. Blew her ass right out the frame.

Fuck your opinion, bruh. Go back to lurking..

I didn't get it?

Explain to me what was I supposed to get?

Nothing man.. You're right, it's overrated. The critics are wrong, the Academy is wrong, and the Hollywood Foreign Press is wrong. We should all come to you for your superior taste, and analysis of all things film.

Nigga, I didn't like it. What the fuck does that have to do with the Hollywood Foreign Press? FOH.

Take Quentin Tarantino's balls out of your mouth for two seconds and just answer the question: What didn't I get?
