Just saw Django [MERGED~> !SPOILER ALERT!]

Re: Just Got Back from Seeing Django Unchained...

I'm talking about the progression of the protagonist within the universe the story is built. It would make no sense that the protagonist would go from a slave who doesn't know his left from his right to a tactical weapons expert within 30 minutes if the story was built around the progression and ultimate redemption of said character....

That being said I have no clue what the fuck you are talking about. Sounds like you bitching just to bitch.:hmm:

*two cents*

I'm saying in these kinds of stories theres always a white man who has to provide the way..I mean nat turner was born into slavery and lead a pretty effective revolt. Turner had "natural intelligence and quickness of apprehension, surpassed by few."[7] He learned to read and write at a young age.
Turner also had an influence over white people. In the case of Ethelred T. Brantley, Turner said that he was able to convince Brantley to "cease from his wickedness."
Turner started with a few trusted fellow slaves, but the insurgency ultimately numbered more than 70 enslaved and free blacks, some of whom were mounted on horseback.

None of that needed a white man as a facilitator. I'm just giving an example of how a fictional character can be done based on historical events. But carry on..

Re: Just saw django

My dad and I just saw it in a theatre in Wichita Kansas. Theatre was sold out. Crowd was half black and half white. Sam Jackson's character was so funny it had me in tears. When the movie ended there was already a line for the next screening. Best movie I saw in 2012 along with spider man and flight.

Re: Just Got Back from Seeing Django Unchained...

OP that genetic shit was how white folks really felt in those days. How does it make QT a racist for tapping into the psyche of the people of those times. If anything it makes the movie more authentic.

Re: Just Got Back from Seeing Django Unchained...

What was up with the white female overseer who kept that mask on ?

Re: Just saw django

Fuck the haters...

I'm gonna buy the blu-ray too...

Gotta make sure QT gets paid...:dance:

Just saw it with the wife and that shit was off the chain. Foxx splattering white flesh everywhere. First thing I told my wife, "I'm gettin' that shit on bluray."
:yes::yes:

:clap::clap:

Re: Just saw django

Interesting, I know I'm still not going to the theater to see this simply cuz I'm not a big movie buff but I'm not hearing much bad about it so far from anybody.

Re: Just Got Back from Seeing Django Unchained...

Cant run out and support it ...simply cause its a slave movie

I remember being highly pissed in here just a week ago about
half the board crying about racism and white people.

REMEMBER???

A week later look ...people running to support a slave movie.

And calling Spike Lee a hater for speaking on Q.T. running the N word.

WOW

I will always love but NEVER understand niggas.

But please at least acknowledge the fact yall support the shit yall claim to hate so much.

You just have to see it man.. That's all I can say.. Every Black person that's seen it, and I've talked to feels the same way about it. What he was saying was presented as scientific FACT, and you have CACs today that probably still believe this bullshit..

Re: Just Got Back from Seeing Django Unchained...

It was Zoe Bell.. She's Uma Thurman's stunt double.. Tarantino finds a way to sneak her into his movies. There's probably a scene that explains the mask, and it was cut out.

Re: Just saw django

I went to the matinee after reading the leaked script earlier this year. It was disappointing that there was multiple scenes excluded from the script which surely would have changed the dynamic of this film and the perception of slavery on patrons consciousness but instead these scenes were purposely removed. A couple scenes in particular I would have like to see was when D'jango has a flashback of when the overseers from the first plantation he killed made him fuck Hildi to entertain them until they wanted some, beat D'jango ass and then took turns on her while he had to sit in the corner and watch and when they went to Leonardo Dicaprio's whore house to discuss copping a nigga fighter where they witnessed he had little black girls as young as 12 or younger entertaining white men. I was hoping this movie would be a catalyst for black people to wake the fuck up instead coons laughed, cheered and clapped in the theatre and on this board I see it was another effective tactic to lul mu-fuckas into a deeper slumber. I hated the movie. We are truly doomed unless there is some other miraculous power

So are you upset that the protagonist had the "Helpful whitey" archetype in the first place or the fact it took to act 3 for Django to reach his full potential.

Cause one grievance is based on the premise that a black man NEEDING help to go about his business which I understand and agree with to an extent....

And the other one is a grievance about good story structure; if the story is about the ROAD to vengeance and redemption do you really want the protagonist peaking in the first act. Where do you go with the rest of the story?

I was commenting on story structure WITHIN the film. :hmm:

You are commenting of the premise and ethos -blacks ultimately needing the help of whites to deal with black problems- OF THE MOVIE ITSELF.:hmm:

Big difference fam.

There is no debate here. I agree with what you said. It just doesn't have a fucking thing to do with what I was talking about.:hmm:

OP...Thanks for the "Spoiler Alert"...Muthafucka.

I HATE Dumb niggas.
:smh:

Re: Just saw django

I think Hollywood supported it because it would make money.

Like I said in another post there really hasn't been a movie like this since Buck and The Preacher.

And as far as knowing their place from the sounds of it this movie just as Buck and The Preacher didn't portray a ****** that knew his place.

I think its a shame that black people don't support black films that would have allowed this story to be made by a black director.

That blacks don't use their resources to fund important stories and leave them up to white folks to make if they are made at all.

1. I 10000% agree it will make money.. not sayin the motivation was necessarily even racial... but this is how the country thinks... and they want both sides to enjoy this guilty pleasure
2. imo The reason the stories you talk about that you want to get made don't get made is because you/us/we gonna buy the ticket for the same hood movie/tyler perry/boot licker flicks ANYWAYS... what is the point of letting us do it if we vote against it with our dollars... just like with businesses... we go buy from WHOEVER... they don't even have to pretend to have one of us front the business...

Try that anywhere else.... Go into the community as an outsider and try to get people to buy from you... We don't even demand brothers and sisters write and direct the movies we support

Anyways I ain't bitter just want yall to THINK and stop cheering 'black' faces on the silver screen just cause

You right ignant muthafucka. Y'all the kind of muhfuckas who take a test without even reading the book first.

Niccas commenting on shit they haven't even seen AND IT IS OBVIOUS. I haven't really commented cause I don't drop spoilers, but Django didn't know his place from after the first ten minutes of the movie. That's all I'm gonna say.

Some of y'all are already so married to your positions on this movie that you couldn't Chang your position if you wanted to. Simpletons!

read my post again... from what I can see django plays that role of 'enlightened' tough guy aka 21 century hero... but the period is where 'we' knew our place... this element is for the other folks who like hearing that plantation talk... and want to vicariously drop n-bombs with no repercussions

but by all means carry on... just droppin a little science... ain't mean to ruffle your feathers plei boi

Both...because one affects the other. When you work in a industry that says certain stories won't get made or sell that affects how you write the story.

I see this poster
Django_Unchained_Poster.jpg

and I know its designed that way because two black men on the poster (Jamie Foxx and another black actor in Christoph Waltz's place) wouldn't sell..even in a tarantino flick.

but i'll reserve further comment after I catch the matinee in a few..

Re: Just saw django

did I say "uprising" genius?

That's another tactic.. if you notice if you say anything they condition your brother to demand you do something... if you do something they condition your brother to demand you fight the whole war in one night ... therefore the only response in their twisted minds is to shut the hell up or 'kill whitey' ... which is COMPLETE nonsense...

[That's like you try talkin to an alcoholic or drug addict about quitting... and they demand that you promise that if they quit now their whole life is going to turn into a fantasy island vacation... cause in their mind it is addiction or paradise... no in between ... ]

I try tell people ... if we can crawl up out this hole we in ... that would make building the pyramids look like an 8th grade science project:eek::itsawrap:

Re: Just Got Back from Seeing Django Unchained...

Mofo, this is BGOL. What about the T&A?

Any full frontal shots of Kerry Washington in the flick?

Re: Just saw django

Aside from multiple use of ****** I think this is why ppl took issue w/ Tarantino + and this flick...this isn't Spielberg...even tho I read the script seriously speaking given Tarantino's body of work you don't have to read the script to know the movie would be moreso "entertaining" than educational...I can see this flick being a reminder for those who already know but no disrespect but I think you are deceiving yourself if you expect or hoped for a Tarantino flick of all things being an eye opener or awakener for black ppl...and I sincerely doubt that was Tarantino's intent

exactly tarantino is the same tarantino and uses his own style to entertain and get revenge. seen many blaxploitation films like this. spielberg has a dude reciting lincoln in front of him. inspiring but sugarcoating how blks were treated and how concerned the wht men were. qt kept true to what wht ppl did and said

Re: Just saw django

Only thing im tripping off is niggas running to see it.

Its comedy cause yall swear yall hate some CACS as yall call them.

Spielberg may not have been the best example but my point was to say Tarantino when doing historical-based flicks is more intent on entertaining his audiences and not necessarily educating ie a film like Schindler's List vs. Inglorious Basterds...I haven't seen Lincoln yet or read the script so I can't comment on that...but Tarantino abusing the word ****** and showing slaves getting whipped/tortured doesn't make the film "educational"...and I remember the sexual glorification of those scenes in the script based on the descriptive words he used which gives a lot more insight into what he was thinking as opposed to just seeing it play out on screen...I'm not passing judgment on anyone for seeing it but I do take issue w/ ppl tryna to act like this is Roots 2012

Re: Just saw django

:hmm: a movie cause an uprising?

:lol::lol::lol: if you need a movie to inspire anything in you other than entertainment than you shit outta luck. But I will say this as cartoonsih as the violence was, alotta of ppl have no idea what the perils of slavery were even like, even young black ppl. If anything QT downplayed the rape or decided not to show it

Re: Just saw Django [MERGED]

So this white bitch i use to fuck with way back in the day just came from watching it so i asked her how was it. Her reply was it was good in the "beginning" but toward the "end" it was a little to much for me........

Now from what everyone was telling me even you guys on bgol the BEGINNING was N-word this N-word that but at the end Django went on a honkey killing spree.......So her words was funny to me and i know QT lust for gore i can only imagine how the scenes where.

Anyway she ask if i was going to go see it i said naw i also told her if the violence is what was bothering her just imagine what really happened to my people back in the day now thats fucking disturbing. Needless to say she never texted me back. I probably wont go see this movie because of my own personal beliefs but hell thats just me.

I would have felt some kinda way if i was in the movies and crackers n there laughing at shit like "hey is that a n!993r on a horse" Call me sensitive but fuck it shit it is what it is.
