Jon Jones Hearing for Steroid Punishment

2/27/2018 10:01 AM PST

Breaking News

DECISION DAY

12:42 PM PT -- Andy Foster is recommending a $205,000 fine -- 40-percent of Jones’ purse and $5,000 in additional fines ... and recommends his license is revoked until USADA determines its punishment.

12:06 PM PT -- Jon says he never completed USADA anti-doping tutorials ... despite the fact he signed paperwork saying he did.

Jones says his management team took the tutorials for him and then forged his signature.

11:53 AM PT -- When asked about his use of sex enhancement supplements, Jones said, "I've had quite a bit of experience with Cialis and Viagra over the years."

11:49 AM PT -- Jones was asked what assurances he can give the commission that this won't happen again. Jones says he doesn't know how to answer the question because he didn't intentionally cheat in the first place.

Jones says, "My luck has been terrible when it comes to USADA."

11:48 AM PT -- Jon says he still wants to fight Daniel Cormier again. "I want to get that belt from Cormier."

11:44 AM PT -- "I've really tried everything in my power to get my life together."

Jon also says he's not a "screw up" and understands he's a role model for kids. He says he might be a knucklehead, but he's NOT a cheater.

11:41 AM PT -- "I have no clue how this happened."

11:40 AM PT -- Jon says he thought about who could have intentionally contaminated his supplements ... suggesting an enemy may have tried to take him down.

11:38 AM PT -- Jon says his nutritionist worked hard to make sure everything he took was clean and USADA approved.

11:34 AM PT -- Jon is testifying. He says he was very confused by the positive steroid test. Says he had to take a close look at the people around him to see if anyone would have contaminated his workout supplements.

10:24 AM PT -- Jon's attorney says the UFC fighter is not fighting the positive test, but he thinks the heavy $200,000 fine and revocation of his license is too harsh of a penalty.

Jon's attorney said, "He did not knowingly take the substance. He does not know where it came from."

The revocation would essentially last 1 year -- with Jones being able to reapply after 1 year has passed. The CA Athletic Commission would then decide to continue the suspension for another year or lift it.

Jon Jones is about to find out if he'll be SUSPENDED from fighting in the state of California over a failed UFC 214 steroid test.

He's about to face the California State Athletic Commission ... and we're livestreaming the whole thing.

TMZ Sports broke the news ... Jones tested positive for the anabolic steroid Turinabol in a test administered in July -- the day before he beat Daniel Cormier in Anaheimto reclaim the UFC light heavyweight championship.

Of course, Jones was stripped of his title -- and now he's facing up to $200,000 in fines (40% of his fight purse) and a possible suspension from the CSAC.

If the CSAC suspends Jones' license, he can't reapply until one year has passed from the date of revocation.

Jones is also facing punishment from another agency -- USADA -- which could hit him with a possible 4-year suspension. Jones is expected to meet with USADA later this year. There's no guarantee USADA's punishment will match the CSAC punishment.

The complication for Jones ... this is his 2nd offense. He tested positive for 2 banned substances prior to UFC 200 in Las Vegas in 2016 ... resulting in a 1-year suspension from USADA and the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

The CSAC meeting is set to begin at 10 AM PT ... with Jones' hearing 5th on the agenda.

Jon Jones License Revoked Over Positive Steroids Test

Breaking News

2/27/2018 1:13 PM PST

Jon Jones is officially BANNED from fighting in California ... at least for now ... after the California Athletic Commission revoked his fight license over a positive steroids test at UFC 214.

Jones is eligible to apply for reinstatement in August 2018 -- one year retroactive from his failed drug test.

Jones was also hit with a $205,000 fine -- 40% of his fight purse from the Daniel Cormier fight -- the largest fine the C.A.C. could levy.

The punishment was handed out after a terrible hearing for Jones -- who was grilled like a cheeseburger over the steroid test and other screw-ups in his life.

But, the worst moment for Jones undoubtedly came when he admitted he never completed USADA's anti-doping tutorials in 2015 ... despite the fact he signed paperwork saying he did.

Jon later said his management team took the tutorials for him and forged his signature.

As for the steroid test ... Jon testified that he had no idea how the the anabolic steroid Turinabol got into his system. Jones insisted he never knowingly took the substance and suggested it may have been planted in his workout supplements by an enemy.

"I have no clue how this happened," Jones told the panel. "My luck has been terrible when it comes to USADA."

And the worst could still be yet to come for Jones ... who will meet with USADA later this year.

The agency could suspend Jones up to 4 years because this is the 2nd time he's failed a steroid test under their watch. Plus, they ain't gonna be happy about the tutorial situation.

thanks b...

but when is the agency going to finalize their judgement....

in august when he applies for reinstatement..??

I dont think someone setting him up is far fetched, from what I understand he does have a lot of enemies in the game...

Not quite sure. Hopefully things are clearer come summertime. These past few years of his pro career have definitely been a blur.

He showed up at the hearing lying through his teeth swearing his innocense.
i think he was cheating when he got busted the 1st time
but that drug turnibol is old as dirt...no one in their right minds would use that today knowing they have to pass tests
someone set him up
but when you already pissed hot...he shouldnt have been supplementing at all
thats his fault.fuck him

I didnt believe him the first time and I dont believe him this time either. Dick pills is every fighter's excuse when they get caught.

I know athletes need to push the limit. Thats how they get where they at. USADA has a list of permissible supplements thats available to everyone. If you trying to get something beyond that list, just get it cleared by USADA first. Its actually not that complicated of a procedure.

Jon Jones was already hot like you said. I know his confidence would be shook if he came into the fight without taking any supplements at all, but gotdamn maybe thats better then testing hot AGAIN.

:roflmao: dude was a cheating bottom line about it. you people on here want him to be a hero and he is not.i bet jon jones been dirty his whole career since usda came in and started testing thats when his problems start happening.that steroid he took he thought he was all good since it was a day before fight night but WRONG they tested his butt anyways and got caught up.facts is facts nobody put that in his food or drink lol its funny people thinking that crap.the guy is just a cheater.you dont get popped that many times and be innocent.he still bout to get stroked by usada since cali.found him guilty.

nobody would take a roid a day before the fight. especially when he has to grapple. roids will cause you to get cramps, pumps, and other shit that would hinder his fighting ability. dudes an asshole, someone probably set him up. i say that because if he wanted to cheat he wouldve took a better drug. that 1st time tho...yeah he did that shit

Because I've told you twice you don't cheat with that kind of steroid that makes no sense. I guess you hate him or something so you're not listening to that point. Hell I already agreed he's an idiot

There is a rumour going around that he snorted contaminated cocaine from China... he should have use this excuse instead of saying I don’t know and looking like an idiot :smh:

UFC Fighter Jon Jones Gets 15-Month Suspension, But Could Return Late October

0919-jon-jones-happy-tmz-3.jpg

"Jon Jones has finally received his punishment for testing positive for a banned anabolic steroid last year -- a 15-month suspension -- but the good news is ... he could return to the Octagon in just a little over a month.

The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency announced Jones' suspension Wednesday, but it's retroactive to the date of the test on July 28, 2017 ... which means he may be eligible to fight again by October 28.

As we reported ... Jones swore on God and his kids that he didn't use steroids before his fight with Daniel Cormier at UFC 214, but couldn't account for the banned substance in his system in his B test.

Due to the positive test, his knockout over Cormier was changed to a no-contest.

Jones was originally looking at a maximum of a 4-year ban, but the USADA changed its mind and only sought an 18-month suspension. However, an independent arbitrator ultimately reduced it to 15 months and said in his ruling ... "There was absolutely no intention to use prohibited substances on the part of the athlete."

Jones also got his license to fight revoked in California for the positive test, but he's also eligible for reinstatement now.

So ... rematch with Cormier coming soon??"

I'm biased as hell. I want him fighting. Also, go to HW already.

Gonna be interesting to see if Cormier gets one last fight in with Jones. Especially now with Cormier holding both the HW & LHW belts. Wants to get that fight in with Brock Lesnar in the first 1/4 of 2019. Plans to return by age 40 (March 20th of next year) ... does he stay around for a bit longer for Jones & an additional $ fight, or is it not worth risking defeat/injury and one of the belts?
