Joell Ortiz Dropped From Aftermath

so I suppose you bringin' that heat huh? nigga shut the fuck with your hatin' ass. You probably from the South or the West anyways. Dumbfucks should get assault, cut the fuck and sprayed with salt water just for talking shit

NAH FROM WEST BALTIMORE
I LIKE THE WAY YOU USE THE SOUTH AND THE WEST AS AN INSULT
THAT SHIT ALMOST MADE ME PISS

ture what you're sayin......but i mean record sales used to mean something, to the artist and the Company, kats would live by their sales figures, always quoting their 1st week sales, and their sales for the yr---not anymore----kats lucky to go 1 plat, let alone 2 or 3 mill.......So now (sorta like you said) the label aint shit---again I remeber want to buy the Makavelli or the All eyes on Me or the Ready to die Lp----i mean kats wanted the offical CD with linear Notes and artwork--it was something you had to have---i had a homeboy who wouldn't put bootlegs in his tape deck, only official shit--no one wanted the "flea-market" bootleg-----now kats dont buy LP's period, hell in my town all the Cd stores have closed...if you silly enough to buy an LP your only option is best buy------the game is changed for everyone--artis,label,and the Fans

Seriously, if you look at what hip-hop used to be, it was never about record sales. Yeah, they sold this and this, but it was a status thing that the White folks in the Record companies set up just like rocking the latest italian clothes. We need to stop thinking about that shit becuase we didn't create the RIAA.

Me personally, I never cared about record sales and never thought about an artist's status when I read Billboard(very expensive fucking subscription) and saw how they made out becuase in reality, the real fans will go out to see them live, fuck the record sales. the sales are only the record companies fucking artists, seriously, even Koch fucks people, just on a lighter level. doesn't make them any better.
I do buy records that I enjoy and I'll download something for the sake of not being jerked for a shitty record. I'll always buy good shit, but I'll always attend their concerts because that's where they get their real paper. they can do that on their own. I've had Mobb deep come through tons of times and it's always packed like sardines in that bitch.

It's just time for the Old Recording Desing to go and for a new Design to be implemented.

Artists have more control over their careers because now, they can go on Mixtapes without getting dropped from no fucking label. they just keep the buzz going and keep it moving, they'll make that money on their own, and that is what they've been fighting for anyways.

can't wait for his second Mixtape, I know that shit will be as sick as his first joint

before i go on, let me say its great to have an intelligent talk about hip-hop....most of my peeps have passed on or moved away or on chain----so props for the good discussion

I feel ya, but where I'm from -South FLA-its seems that peeps like Mobb Deep and AZ and so on(kats who are nice, but low on LP sales) would come to town and do a show at a club---like they're local artist....where a rapper like pac or big, they did shows at stadiums.....now a days kats dont even drop albums(wayne) yet their selling out arenas(sp?)-----sales really did mean something--i wish i had the pac mtv interview, where someone ask him about BIG winning an award, and did he feel like he lost..and he was quick to say he didn't loose because he went 2x' Plat........plat sales used to mean something----now this is my own opinion and I have no facts to support it, but I feel RAKIM got dropped because DRE felt he couldn't go multi-plat(damn i would have loved to hear Ra on dre beats with dre's industry "button-pressing") same thing for Joel Ortiz--Dre cant let himself be directly associated with a non-multi plat artist-----now don't get it twisted---i know that sales don't equal "tightness" but The Powers That Be do........I think Nas(illmatic to streets disciple) is one of the illest, yet he isn't dropping 3plat in a yr.......now back then that limited his tour schedule, now a days if you got a strong buzz you can go Double BGOL, or TRIPLE LIMEWIRE, and be in stadiums

in some ways its good and some ways bad---but it is what it is-------if hip hop is dead the web was the gun that shot it-----imho

I can't believe Joell Ortiz is considered an "okay" or "C-" rapper by some of you.

What the hell type of artists yall listening to? Put me on please.

Joell Ortiz is an INCREDIBLE artist, his word play and bars are wittier than almost anybody who is in his new school class, his song ability is amazing and his passion to make good music that hits your chest is the kicker. He's a GREAT recording artist and those are the only types that get signed by Dre. If you can't work properly in the booth you won't make the cut.

The only people I can honestly see downing him or his style are mad rappers or mad fans of rappers. Even rappers dig Joell Ortiz and thats a tough thing to pull off. I think he's the nicest rapper to get dropped/released to date.

Dr. Dre can't be considered a genius if he's too afraid to take a risk of his legacy.

I AGREE WITH YOU 100%
DR DRE IS OVER RATED IN MY OPINION
HE SOUNDS GOOD WITH CERTAIN ARTIST ONLY (SNOOP & EMINEM)
I WOULD RATHER HEAR RAKIM & NAS OVER A PREMO BEAT
THE FIRM ALBUM WASN'T AS GOOD BECAUSE OF THOSE DRE BEATS SAME AS THAT AFTERMATH ALBUM HE WENT OUT AND PAID PRODUCERS FOR THAT 2001 JOINT

Listen to Stomp from Smif and Wessuns New album, his first verse is alrite, then he drifts into his c- rapper status

There's no way somebody can deny Joell's talent. Sadly, this generation doesn't give a fuck about talent. Nothing we say can change that.:smh:

Thanks for the vids!

If you like lyrics, this brutha is right......
but for those seasoned in commercial radio (southern slang)
this album will sound like trash because it goes against the nigga ears you have acquired. I dont even judge no bunch of niggaz, but please believe Joel Ortiz is lovely on the mic.

???

I'm from Alabama, and I like Joell, but that nigga is boring.

That simple.

This is just another case of "premature fan deitizing"

And yes that is my term...

BOOTCAMP CLICK, DITC, MOBB DEEP,

IF HE'S HUNGRY HE WILL BOUNCE BACK

Nigga plain as white bread to me...I'll admit I am exaggerating by saying he's garbage...but I wouldn't even call him 'pretty good'...he's not even good...if he was a report card grade he would just be "satisfactory"...maybe even a "needs improvement"...but definitely not "good" or "excellent"...

:smh::smh::smh::smh::smh:
