You're right, it has nothing to do with real fiscal conservancy which is why that was in quotation marks. It's the premise that a government can successfully run on the principles of business that is the real point.

Business is designed to be myopically focused on profits, government does not have that luxury. While I agree with you that spending needs to be controlled, it's counterproductive if you don't also raise revenues to account for rising costs. Kinda the same way that growth in production is pointless if there is no one to consume the produced goods.

When did we cut taxes again??? And the only thing republicans are saying is keep the tax rate the same as 2001/2002. So - we lowered taxes and then when did the recession hit?

What was George Bush's mantra during 2000 elections? That's right - take the projected Clinton surplus and give it to the people because they deserve it and will keep the economy strong? How did that work?

Dick Cheney - "Ronald Reagan proved deficits don't matter"

Dick Cheney - meeting secretly with oil execs to discuss energy policy 2000. Halliburton is damn near bankrupt. Gas prices at $1.20. Few months/a year later - 9/11, Halliburton no bid contracts, gas prices start rising.
Now - Halliburton rolling in money, gas prices near $4 in some spots, oil company making record profits. (Anyone think - they realized Oil is running out and Shell/Exon/Chevron ect.. are energy producers not oil producers. They are using profits to explore - home grown oil and preparing for natural gas exploration/hyrdogen and any other new technology. This was even more than oil - this was about energy policy and turning America into the next energy superpower (not really America - just its companies).

Was there a time when lowering taxes helped the economy? I actually want to know this - not trying to make an argument point.

Who's idea was it to - advance expensive social programs (no child left behind) and a massive war -with contractors (cause Lord knowls we can't expand government) while lowering taxes?

Small goverment = more contractors (extracting more money from the government and your tax dollars by overcharging). Who wins? Halliburton. Who loses - all those who don't work for Halliburton/tax payers.

But how do you get Americans on your side? Power of the American dream - you can get rich one day so don't hate on the rich. Telling folks the rich are the job producers. Using phrases such as redistribute wealth = taking money out of white folks pockets to the damn lazy minorities.

Then when shit gets stupid - talk about family values and gay marriage.

The republicans always run from their history....

They love to try and give Bush credit for Osama bin Laden...but won t give Bush any credit for the terrible economy.

They allow silver spooners like Grover Norquist to dictate tax policy...and he s a hypocrite...he wants the Bush tax cuts to be permament....but wont say the payroll tax should be.."Oh that s different."
