Dude went form sounding like a man on his albums, to sounding like a b*tch. He went from a grown music Hustlin to this Coonery? If he wants to be rock-n roll do it the way the original rock'nrollers (who were black) did it...don't be a fool and grab a guitar shick'n for the Man.
Jigga's wack.
I still don't understand how the black community feels comfortable Playin to white people (for money). Meanwhile half the check goes to a white boss, and the artist can't be free to be Himself. He had to cater to these herbs who know NOTHING bout music.
Not ot mention all the sisters and brothers who've been sucked into this shitty music. Now they think Lupe's The best mc of all time.
I wanna drop anvils on these losers.
^^^I don't normally knock the next mans opinion to much but yours is is a bit too negative.
I was listening to rock music well before rap/hiphop became a viable entity.
My uncles turned me on to groups like KISS, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple as well as the guitar God Jimi Hendrix but they also hipped me to cat's like Sly & The Family Stone, Bootsy Collins and George Clinton who formed the bedrock of psychadelic rock/funk back in the late 60's and mid to late 70's.
I grew up listening to all types of music throughout my younger years and my tastes have broadened as I've gotten older.
It's really sad to see some cats unable to just chillout and enjoy themselves without having to bring all that pseudo-militant rhetoric to the game.
Rock has played a major part in Hiphop from as far back as AfriKa Bambatta, Grand master Flash and the Furious Five as well as PUBLIC ENEMY, CYPRESS HILL & THE BEASTIE BOYS and RUN DMC so there's nothing wrong with Jay-Z rocking out for the fun of it.
I'm by no means a Jay-Z fan, but even I have to give him props for doing what he wants to do and being true to himself.
Anyone who saw Marilyn Manson's video for "Tainted Love" would have seen the elements of HipHop styling evident in it, and Korn, Incubus,Faith No More and SlipKnot have shown their HipHop leanings on their albums from time to time.
It's just kind've sad that some heads feel the need to worry about the next persons tastes rather than just focusing on themselves and their extremely narrow-minded world view
The sound of Hiphop was originally born out of heavy sampling and reinterpretations of other artists music. A lot of that music was rock based so it's a bit short sighted to be so much of a "purist" that one loses sight of the fact that good music comes in all styles and packages.
Peace.
