Is The Shield the best show on TV? (Porn Inside)

I like The Shield, despite the fact that the only brotha with
a recurring role is a closet homosexual and the latino captain
is also a cocksucker. And the only men with heroic tendencies
are the white males. Fuck it, it's their show, they can make
their people look like superheros if they want to. Still decent
drama.

What I do not like is how FX tells you when you can watch
the shit. Waiting almost a FULL YEAR to return the shit to the
air with new shows. Not even re-running the last season (yet)
so we can catch up on the story. Holding out so they can
charge an arm and a leg for the box sets or something sleazy

NOBODY tells me when and where I can do watch TV. I bought
a VCR years ago so I could avoid all their commercials and shit.
But their tricks are only designed to make you watch when they
decide to air it

So I may end up watching. But I will NOT tune into FX for their
premiere. Or any of the season. If they decide to repeat, then I
might tune in

And before anybody tells me to conform or some soft shit.....
I just starting watching The Sopranos and The Wire for the
first time

THIS YEAR

And I still haven't watched one episode of 24 this season....

For the very same reasons

If the shows are out there on torrents, I'll check them though
But at MY own leisure.....not THEIRS

props to Spike TV and A&E and even BET for running these shows
back. And for running repeat broadcasts during non primetime hours

I have never seen 'The Shield'.

But I have seen all four seasons of 'The Wire'. The strength of 'The Wire' is it's realism, diversity and protracted (long ass) but compelling storytellling.

This provides a much more realistic insight into police work- which is usually compressed and has a predictable sequence of events culminating with the inevitable solving of the crime for tv.

I will need to catch up on 'The Shield' to make a balanced comparison. But, I can't see our people being given such a broad and in depth representation in that or any other show

The shield is my fav Have just started watching the wire and it's excellent so far

I would say The Sopranos, but its on hbo, so its not TV its HBO. Best Show for me would be Lost

There's one more season of The Shield after this one and then that's it. But no, it's not better than The Wire. It's probably the best thing on broadcast tv or basic cable though.

The Wire is in a whole other league.

Gina Torres' ass a few seasons ago ... and in general she just tastes like "sweet butter" ... so ya can't go wrong :)

The worse season this far. The show has/had been on a steady decline in my opinion but last seasonw as utterly atrocious. So much that i contemplated not watching this seasons offering. I will admit that i did tune in to the premiere (welll i dvr'ed it) and so far so good. Hopefully it brings closure/finality to all plotlines without the writers bitching up on allowing the main characters to recieve their just due (like the bitchmade move of the Sopranos creator).

The Wire of course its tha goat show but on network TV its 24 and Tha Shield.
But Mackey wouldn't be running wild like that on West Bmore.Marlo would have been bodied him and tha strike team.

the last 2 seasons of the shield have been pretty good, but as far as a comparison to The Wire, shit is like comparing Michael Redd to Kobe man, c'mon, THE WIRE IS THE BEST SHOW TO EVER BE AIRED, for numerous reasons, however, the Wire is done now, so I'm looking forward to seeing what happens on the Shield

but THE WIRE hands down, better character development, more realistic plot lines, more intriguing characters, plus the Wire tackles more than police and politics, but if u don't start from Season 1, u'll be lost and belive there is ANY OTHER SHOW better than the WIRE

The Shield is the shit !!!!!!!!!! This is one of the few series I buy when it comes out on DVD. When it goes off the air I dont know what the fuck I'll start watching next. Maybe Monk who knows ?

The Shield
The Road To Justice... Is Twisted The Shield breaks the conventional formula of the cop genre. It plays out in a tough, morally ambiguous world in which the line between good and bad is crossed everyday. The series focuses on the tension between a group of corrupt but effective cops and a captain torn between bringing them down and advancing his own political ambitions. The Shield stars Michael Chiklis as rogue cop Vic Mackey, leader of the elite Strike Team unit, who is effective at eliminating crime but who operates under his own set of rules. Benito Martinez plays David Aceveda, the young captain turned councilman who doesn't like Mackey's tactics and wants to bust him off the force. And CCH Pounder as Claudette Wyms, a veteran detective who understands Mackey and knows how to play both sides of the fence. The show made history by becoming the first ad-supported cable series to win the 2003 Golden Globe Award for Best Drama Series.

I like The Shield best. The Wire has too many unrealistic characters for my tastes. And after they did Avon the way they did him, I lost interest. I didn't like Marlo. I liked Avon best. I wanted to see more Avon and Stringer. But Stringer was bodied, and Avon ended up in prison.

I liked alot of The Wire. The first three seasons were some of the best television I have ever seen. The last two seasons were just ok to me.

The Shield season 6 was the worst season, but it set up Season 7 which is turning out good.

I'm betting money The Shield ends better than The Sopranos or The Wire. But both of those shows have seasons I might consider better than The Shield such as Season 1 through 3 of The Wire and season 1 through 3 or 4 of The Sopranos. But as far as quality from beginning to end, if the Shield has a great ending that beats The Wire or The Sopranos, I'm going with it as the best for overall consistency.

not the shield. this is the best show ever
from the school, to the docks, to the cops, to the undercover stories, to the drugs, the wire, the courts.........the shit was surgically crafted for 5 seasons. excellent writing and all the actors fell back and played their positions.

Before the sycophants of the Wire come on let me say the Shield was as - when it was on form - as good as the former if not better...

Yo my fav shows have been the Wire and the Shield for years........................I think The Shield edges out the Wire by a hair just cuz of how on the edge of your seat it keeps you, consistentky every episode you gotta watch it straight thru.....The Wire is like that too,but the Wire had it's slow low intensity parts....The Shield is intense and twisted every minute.

Big ups, everyone. I'm checking the episode out in a few minutes.

Mad props on the share, Leroy.

I cannot stop watching this show! I started watching the show when I was in Kuwait...somebody had the series on DVD, then I bought the series from a haji (haji translated to non-military are the Arab people that sell knock off matterial from purses to DVD's, CD's, like a swap meet or an outdoor thrift shop, the name came from The Arab friend of Johnny Quest  ). I tried to watch it before, but I caught one episode and it didn't catch my attention so I let it go. Somebody told me, "Did you see the first episode? No? You just jumped in in the middle? Go and see the first episode and you won't miss another!"

They were right. I was hooked. My roommates in Kuwait said that I was on Shield Crack :D I watched it so much. I got all five seasons on 5 DVD's like somebody Tivo'd it to a DVD, but good quality. And I cannot stop watching it. Seriously, corrupt, but good cops...well, at least Vic, Ronnie & Lemonhead. Shane is fucked up. Like one of your friends that you know when it comes down to it he will only try to save his own ass. He is one of those tough asses that is only tough because he has a gun and a badge.

I shave stopped or slowed watching several TV shows because they gotten way too predictable. Namely, CSI and other crime dramas. They never seem to lose a case. They never get stumped. They always find the bad guy and that ain't the real world. CSI's don't close even half of their cases in big cities...not even close. The Shield is...let me say this. One episode in Season 1 two cops were trying to break a guy in questioning and he stonewalled them. Vic Mackey came in and sat down. The guy said, "Who are you, good cop or bad cop?" Vic just sat there and shook his head :smh: Good cop and bad cop left for the day...I'm a different kind of cop." And that is this show.

I only got into this shit so late because sorry asses East Cleveland cable didn't pick up FX until I was in Kuwait, so it was into the 5th year before I saw an episode. You can't miss an episode because if you miss a little you miss a lot. Damn! I am watching Season 5 Season Finale. I am not going to spoil it for the ones who have not seen it yet, but I'm gonna tell you like someone told, "Make sure you see the first episode, because you won't miss one after that."

This show is a rollercoaster ride. Anthony Anderson is a BEAST! Forrest Whittaker straight channeled his charactor Mad Dog from Jason's Lyric, you'll see. All of the main characters have depth to them...they aren't transparent or one-dimentional. Vic is a good cop, he just does bad shit sometimes...but never to people who didn't have it coming. He's got a heart, too. Helps out people when he doesn't have too. I once asked my brother who would win between Training Day's Alonzo Harris and The Shield's Vic Mackey, my brother said "A draw. Alonzo would shoot Vic and as he got in his car to drive away it would be rigged to blow."

One helluva statement for one helluva show.

Hey I like The Shield but it does not beat this show.

It's final season is on January 2009. Excellent show.

We're 8 episodes deep ... and there's 5 more to go. GREAT FINAL SEASON FROM THE SHIELD!

I don't think I've ever been drawn into a season of the shield like I have this one. They've got me on the edge of my seat and the story is just fantastic. Might be one of the best endings of a show ever.

Except for a couple little hiccups with Vic's family, and perhaps some unnecessary Tina/Danni drama, this season has been absolutely perfect. The most recent episode was perhaps the best hour of television I've ever seen in my life.

Yes.
Tv, or movies for that matter, doesen't get much better than this."

I posted in this thread a while back. I have since watched every episode of The Shield.

I have to say that it is one of the best shows that I have seen

Maybe even better than The Wire

Here is a six season catch up for people who don't want to sit through 60 episodes
