Is he funnier than Chappelle?

I've always thought he was funnier than DC. I've grown wary of DC's constant moral lesson-style jokes. I don't wanna be schooled; I just wanna hear some funny ass jokes. BB does that well.
Correct. Dave lost me at the Clayton Bigsby sketch and I’ve always viewed him as a sellout since. The way he says niggas in stadiums full of “the whites” and basically does a childish humor. He’s brilliant but afraid to be onstage. He punches down. Still, I agree he is a legend but in no way funnier than Burr, Patrice, Don DC Curry or others. He’s Beyonce to me, where I get it, and I’ve heard all your shit but I don’t have to like it to appreciate it.

Before i entered the thread, I thought the only active comedian that can compare to Dave is Bill.

They are equal to me. Chapelle is a legend, but Bill is right there as well.

I’ve been listening to the Monday Morning Podcast for over 10 years and it is literally a comedy hour once a week. F is for Family is also funny as well.

It’s all subjective

I agree, I don't need a fuckin lecture from Dave Chappelle. He usually gives his lectures in front of damn near all white audiences, and leans to heavy on the word Nigga.

He is funny, but give me Earthquake, Patrice Oneal or Sommore any day of the week. JMO

All you have to do is look at the difference when Carlin, Burr, or Chapelle do poliitcal and social commetry, Dave is the least funny. Not that what he is saying is not important but you end up not laughing.

I wouldn’t say funnier than Dave, but I would say that Burr is funnier than 99% of comedians out there.

He might not make Mt Rushmore but he’s damn sure outside the cusp.

Katt Williams is funnier than Dave in my opinion.

Katt has never put out a dry special.
Katt is slapstick. Dave is dry and makes you think.

I prefer the latter style of comedy. I don’t do well with loud.

CLEAR PROOF... That comedy is subjective as a Mu'fucca!
Cause this is like saying Soulja Boi is a 'GOAT'... to me anyway

Katt is actually very intelligent if you actually have watched one of his stand ups. He talks about politics, current events, deep shit etc he’s like a version of Eddie Griffin. Which I’m my opinion both are funnier than Chappelle has become.

Chappelle just goes on and on about his rich people problems. He’s starting to get more preachy and less funny.

but here is some examples of Katt being
more than “slap stick”

Yea imma disagree respectfully. There’s nothing enlightening or in depth about anything he’s said in the 25 min totality of these three clips. All I see is common everyday conversation regurgitated in loud suits. He’s struggling to perform so hard that his sweat ducts are fighting for dear life.

He will never be funny to me just like Kevin Hart.

They’re of the thought that loud = funny which is fair cause there’s a lane for it, but it just ain’t for me.

I need more depth in my comedy.

The greats give us that:

Rock, Chappelle, Murphy, Pryor, Carlin etc ..

man, yall be sayin some shit that have me crackin up...LOL

Feel me? There’s far more depth on this board than anything I’ve ever heard Katt Williams talk about.

I agree 1000%

I fuck wit Katt, but I know what Im getting when I watch him. Dave and Bill will surprise me with their joke contruction sometimes.

No diss to Katt, but his jokes dont do that for me, like I said I fuck wit him, and next time he comes to town, Im there

theres room for all of em.....

except Mike Epps last special. that need a Thanos snap

I think Katt is underrated.

Chappelle’s last stand up that was funny funny to me was the special he did in San Francisco and that was yeeeeaaaars ago. Everything he’s done on Netflix has been aight hella tranny jokes and dry shit

But I know I’m not crazy this was said by the co-creator of chappelles show:

There’s definitely a lane for all farce and slapstick comedians. People eat that shit up and that’s dope. I’m glad they’re doing well.

Neil actually reinforces my statement about him being slapstick. Again, no shade, just not my cup of tea.

Dave and Bill are what I like to call black belt comedians. Masters at the art of comedy with their own individual styles that other comics mimic. Patrice O’Neal, Louis CK, Katt Williams, Chris Rock, Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Dave Attell are all masters at what they do and keep me thinking.

I think Katt's issue is his jokes havent crossed over to white America unlike Chapelle and Rock.

Dave's popularity sky-rocketed during the Chappelle Show, but he achieved demigod status after turning down $50m, for what appeared to be his unwillingness to c**n for pay.

That being said, while Dave is obviously funny, I never thought of him as the 'funniest'.

I don't think there is such a thing. I mean, everyone from Katt Williams, to Bill Burr, to Earthquake, Cedric The Entertainer, etc, etc, etc ... I've laughed hard as fuck at all of these people - repeatedly Shit, people say Kevin Hart ain't funny, but I've laughed hard as fuck at some of his shit as well.

I just watched some Deon Cole standup clips that were hilarious.

As for Bill Burr, I think he is great at taking controversial topics and not only finding the humor in them, but have a non-PC perspective that makes a lot of sense.

It's all about personal perspective. Dave was doing plenty of standup before Chapelle's Show, but nobody I knew talked aboout the Men in Tights comedian. We had Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Whoopie, Billie Crystal, Robert Townsend, The Wayans still doing their thing.

Seems like Dave has always played to a mixed crowd, and after Chapelles Show, Black people also started buying his tickets. Half of his stuff is major corny to this day, but his delivery works( even the hypnotic microphone to the leg) But Dave could legitimately make the argument that we had to catch up to his style

Michael Blackson is a funnier punchliner/show IMO, but he has grinded his same style for decades also.
