Why would anyone buy this thing? Why not just wait for something superior to come out?
my boy bought it for medical school because of the medical school apps and some of his books are suppose to be on it. And no my boy isnt Halo lol

This is why I feel the ipad will be succesful. The "ipad killers" already planned prove that there is a demand for the areas that the pad covers. A reader that does slightly more. Most people don't like to read on a web book, or laptop. This is why Kindles are succesful.
Ipad added a little bit more to it. There will be others but apple will prolly be on top of this market for a while to come.

not sure how many people notice, or maybe they just dont care, and i can understand why they dont but they are underestimating how many people want/have a kindle or sony ereader and wish it would do so much more and be in color..
one side will say "well its not as good as my laptop" the kindle sony ereaders are saying "wait.. so after i read my book i can surf the web, pull up some baking recipes, play soduko or download more books wirelessly? (i believe, correct me if i'm wrong you have to plug in your kindles and sony ereaders to get more books.)
^^^kindles have 3G so u can download anywhere. I was going go get one but it wasn't color. Then I heard apple had one coming out so I been waiting.

question is, it practical to you.. college kids can just slide it in a messenger bag etc..
and we have seen the add on's that turn the iphone into a business device for scanning, running credit cards etc.. a custom business app for a doctors office that can print out prescriptions and pull up medical records is not far off.
