how you guys feel about this new TUF season so far....?

looks kind of weak this season....

P' - I think people were expecting Brock to come in WWE-style like he was years back. But the bout with diverticulitis, and his tough win over Shane Carwin in July 2010 and big loss to Cain Velasquez in late-October 2010 have humbled him. Should be cool to see how the season plays out and JDS-LESNAR in Vancouver in June 2011

the reason I feel like that Funk is because it just seems like he lacks alot of knowledge on the sport overall....

I really don't care about fighters getting drunk...crying about their girls/kids...etc...

I like the fighting techniques and training....Brock just looks out of place....hopefully I'm wrong....

to be fair...TUF always focus on the dumb shit than the actual training...

Good shit, bro. Yeah - alot of the hardcores are happier with the format of the show in recent years and less of the in-house antics taking up more of the airtime weekly. Should be interesting to see what knowledge Brock imparts on the fighters in the coming few months worth of programming with the show having been filmed from late-January onward. Some of the podcasts and sites were noting it would be cool if he can teach them some skills/tricks that have helped him over the years with his many athletic endeavours. Obviously ... he's got cardio/strength down pat, and his coaching staff there to teach the technical stuff.

good post....

Hopefully this season does not end up like GSP and Rashad were it was one team totally dominating the other.....

good post....

True. That season was a washout with Rashad getting Rampage's blood boiling with the lopsidedness of the teams

I think one of the surprising seasons was the one with Tito and ... Shamrock? Despite how much flack Ortiz gets for being a jerk/prick/self-promoter ... it was cool seeing him COACH his team and teach them the ins/outs and them to do quite successfully. Shamrock was never meant to be a coach and sucked at it and got really discouraged. Another cool thing was Tito inviting several from his team to come train at BIG BEAR in California after the season was over. Kendall Grove / Josh Burkmann & more ... he had them up there with others training with his usual cast of peeps in years past. Kendall won that season, if memory serves correctly. Viewers gained respect for Tito that season (despite what else they may have thought about him beforehand or going forward / during present day).

Another thing some of the blogs / hardcores / forums and sites were saying would be cool were if Brock were to show them what it's like to BUILD a rep'/character. As we all know ... just like in pro wrestling / sports / sports entertainment ... fans can relate better to certain acts/images/representations ... which is why the likes of Rampage, Wanderlei Silva, Randy Couture, Chuck and others identified so well with them despite their UPS/downs over the years ... they're proven legends/winners ... they're known by CASUALS and hardcores alike. Peeps were noting it would be cool to see Brock tell them some stories about his days in NCAA competition and training, or his experiences becoming one of the biggest names in the WWE earlier this past decade. Shit like that ...

that would be dope if Brock did coach chracter etc....

best coaches GSP, Rashad, Tito (TUF 3 season), Nog

Nog and GSP was my fav they brought alot to the show and their fighters...

TUF next season GSP and Anderson....this needs to happen....

That would be something else ... hopefully GSP/Anderson at some point. Especially if the "superfight" ever happened. In recent weeks more of the talk has been around JONES/SILVA possibly having a superfight ... so we'll see. Others were hoping for FABER-CRUZ, but they're pegged for Pt. II of their battle come July 2nd, and there's too short a turn-around between the current season which wraps in a few months, and their scheduled bout in early-summer. You're right though ... NOG brought alot his season as well ... really bonded well with his team, as did Tito Ortiz. GSP was great too with the visualization techniques with his guys ... pep talks and training with them alot. Kyle Watson from his team said Georges was there all the time training with them leading up to his own fight later down the line with Koscheck. Also - he had great people around him such as Phil Nurse, Jon Danaher (spelling?), etc :) .

Props, bro :) .

I realized, late as fuck...that the 4th season of Bellator started. I think H-Funk posted the 1st ep. I downloaded ep. 2 & 3 from a Torrent...i found ep. 4 & 5 today, but ep. 4 is downloadin' slow as FUCK! been downloadin' since i got off work and it's still only 57%.

Why the fuck did they move it to MTV2??? i don't have that shit! this is the bullshit.

They have bounced around in the networks for the past few years. Got some Bellator threads (with some of the linkage) on the go on some of the boards. They were gonna go with FX last year, but switched over to MTV2. Bjorn Rebney says it's great for them as they can "reach up to 80 million homes" and they can move around their timeslot on Saturday nights depending on counterprogramming from the UFC/Strikeforce. Thing is ... it's Saturday night though. Alot of the critics have been saying ... why not just go with a Wednesday or Thursday and go UNCONTESTED in your timeslot, instead of having to worry about people being able to tune in on MTV2 (States) and The Score (Canada) when other programming is airing on SPIKE, FACEBOOK, and PPV. I agree with the critics.

Wikipedia - "Bellator Fighting Championships (Bellator) is a mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion based in the United States. "Bellator", which is Latin for "Warrior", organizes its events into seasons with each event hosting the rounds of championship knockout tournaments for three-five weight divisions.[1]

Bellator broadcasts its fights nationally in the United States through an exclusive television agreement with ESPN Deportes. Bellator will also be broadcast to countries around the world through a collection of broadcast agreements. Due to its success in its first season, Bellator returned for a second season on April 8, 2010 with a bigger audience on NBC, FOX Sports Net, Telemundo[2], Mun2[3] and The Score.[4] CEO Bjorn Rebney has also said he would like to get it on pay-per-view.[5] On December 3, 2010, it was announced that Bellator had secured a TV deal to air their events live on the FX channel beginning in 2011,[6] but the deal fell through and on December 14th, 2010, Bellator will instead be broadcasted live on the MTV2 channel. The deal is for three years and will begin airing Bellator's fourth season, which again will travel to cities across the U.S. each week, in March."

TUF next season GSP and Anderson....this needs to happen....

:hmm:
What about Carlos Condit??

GSP has NOT cleaned up the division yet. He still has Shields and Condit.

Funny how the UFC is promoting the guy Roy Nelson KO'd and NOT Roy Nelson.

GSP's Wrestling against Condit and Shields :itsawrap:

GSP's Wrestling against Condit and Shields :itsawrap:

I seriously doubt that against Shields (though I prefer Shields at a higher weight). Remember Shields beat Hendo on the ground as well.

And IMO, Condit owns GSP, who is no slouch, on the feet.

Luckily for us all we will find out at the end of the month if Shields can win at the elite level at a lower weight class.

but wasn't Shields in trouble standing with HENDO?

Hendo great wrestling but his stand up is not as good as GSP...and Shields last fight he look in terrible shape dude was gassing against Kampman...if Kampman had a better gameplan I think he could have won that fight....

once GSP is in a dominant position especially on the ground he is very hard to submit or even get up,....and I don't think Shields BJJ can get past GSP...

GSP by UD

Condit just beat a very overrated Hardy GSP...its still early...but I see GSP walking through him...standing or ground...

one thing That makes GSP so good is his game planing IMO...

Yea, Shields looked weight drained. Still going with Shields by UD.

And GSP beating Condit on the feet??? Not likely. I will never forget Serra ko'ing him and GSP not daring to stand with Hardy. On the feet CC KO's GSP. On the ground will be interesting as Condit is a beast with no fear of getting hit or subbed.

Condit by UD unless he is robbed. GSP has tough comp as neither Shields or Condit have lost in years. We shall see.

Serra KO was a fluke bruh....GSP hasn't even lost a round in how many fights?

has GSP even looked bad since that fight or even lost a dominate position on the ground?

GSP striking is far superior than Condit that KO'ed a non head moving Hardy....GSP 5 RDs jabbing with Koscheck :itsawrap:

and his Wrestling is P4P best in MMA...you can't take him down and he can take you down whenever he wants....

Condit has a punchers chance a slim one...once GSP gets him down his game is not better than GSP....

Shields has great BJJ but I don't see him pulling off a sub or out striking GSP who comes into his fights these days with great gameplans....

what if GSP decides to keep the fight standing?...Shields can't out strike GSP and I don't see him getting Takedowns....

GSP is too well rounded for these guys....

I disagree on all points. U think Hardy would have NOT been subbed by Shields in as many attempts as GSP had him in?? Highly unlikely.

And why didn't GSP consciously stand with Hardy?? We already know what Condit can do.

I rather see Condit vs GSP than Shields. Hell Condit is long overdue a title shot. I hope he gets it soon as his style and experience sure puts wear on a fighter. He is much more exciting than GSP.

:smh:

Huh?? Dude been in the game for 9+ years. He recently lost a split decision to Kampman (I thought he won but hey) and lost a decision to Shields many years ago.

Brock Larson, who at the time had one decision loss to Jon Fitch.

Rory Macdonald--undefeated in the UFC..Funny how Condit would have lost another close decision had the ref not stopped it.

Renato Verissimo--not exactly a HOF fighter but a tough contender , who, at the time, was a proven warhorse.

Remember, Condit has fought in different organizations with different rules and has found a way to win. Who knows how he would have fared against GSP's comp (which seems better on paper though some of those fighters are either retired or MIA) had he been given the chance.

He was to have fought last month or so but he got injured. I hope he has afew good fights left in him as his style is all or nothing.

GSP has fought a safety first style since the KO loss to Serra, even against fighters who have give up trying to win (Hardy, Koscheck--u really think Kos would have lasted against Condit in that condition??)

do you think Condit could do what GSP did to Kos?

I hate when some cats feel GSP is "Boring" because he uses his wrestling to dominate fighters....

yet his striking is amazing...and he attempts Submissions...everything in his arsenal from superman punches to spinning kicks...yet he's boring  dude goes from guard to side control with ease....

again when was the last time he lost a round?

he is so good and dominate ppl just want to discredit him..."Condit KO'ed Hardy"...big deal....GSP made him look like an amateur for 5 rounds...he couldn't do anything to hurt GSP's game same goes for Koscheck...

same goes for Mayweather haters...he's boring cuz he doesn't finish like PAC...blah blah blah......dudes skill is so great he makes ppl look like amateurs in there...THATS A GREAT FIGHTER TO ME....thinking...nullifying your opponents game....

its not all about excitement and KO's....I like Mayweather and GSP cuz they have great skill....you can't come into a fight thinking you have a punchers chance with them...you have to strategically break them down....and thats very difficult to do....

no hate brotha....

do you think Condit could do what GSP did to Kos?

Agreed. And GSP is far from boring. At least he looks to finish unlike Mooney May.

Problem is that in order to be defined as great, you have to take great chances. Looks at Ali, SRR, and to a lesser extent, Fedor b4 all the wars caught up to him.

Last person GSP stopped was a smaller BJ Penn, who was outstriked by the smaller Edgar.

Is GSP a great HOF fighter? Yup. Is he a SRR, Ali type? Nope. Not yet at least.

I wanna see what Shields can bring out of him. I really like GSP and you can look at his prior performances to the Serra loss and you will see he was a much more exciting fighter. Much more.

agreed....I will say he was more exciting.....but was no where near as great than he is now....

I'm looking forward to seeing how well Shields performs at UFC 129. Gotta pull for GSP (reppin' Canada and all), but I definitely respect Shields' game ... and as noted ... he misjudged the weight cut at UFC 121 back in October 2010 and had to lose some 20lbs in the final 24 hours or so, leaving him drained against Kampmann. Speaking of Kampmann - we bumped into him at the Cheesecake Factory on the Friday night before the fight there in Anaheim a few miles from the Honda Center. He was off to the side reading a menu in the front entrance, and then went outside and got some fresh air when the dinner crowd got too busy in the front entrance/lobby. He was sportin' a cap and black UFC hoodie and nobody recognized him and then my bro' goes - "Yo ... that's Kampmann over there. I'm gonna go and wish him well tomorrow ..." - but yeah - should be cool to see Shields do his thing later this month. He's already proven himself with Rumble on the Rock, Strikeforce, Pro Elite, Elite XC and such over the years. His record speaks for itself and he's done the damn thing at 170 and 185. Also - his boys are fighting this weekend (MELENDEZ/DIAZ) on the Strikeforce card, and Nick's bro Nate is on the UFC 129 card with him (Shields), as is Daniel Roberts as well (his brother is a UFC fam' member here). Jake, Daniel and Gil' noting it's been good to have all of them peaking in the same month for their events 3 weeks apart ... NICK / NATE / JAKE / DANIEL / GILBERT ... they've got a solid crew.
