He trains boxing and Mui Thai, but of course his background is wrestling. He is nice with his strikes but the lack of standup is more a product of my editing and the fact that he's only had a handful of fights so far most of which he won on the ground in under a minute.

Yeah I'm glad I tested it here, now I see I should show more of his standup. He is 5'10" and fights at 170lbs. His record is 4-0, fights in the EFL in the south/southwest mainly. Like I said, he is just getting started but I'm proud of him so far. I'm thinkin' back and I can only remember maybe 3 fights I've had in the last 15 years and they mainly consisted of trading a couple of blows. My bro is getting in the ring with someone who is trained and paid to kick his ass and he is undefeated so far.

Thanks for the comments and critiques. I will keep the board up to date on his status. Also watch for my man on Ultimate Fighter, Gerald Harris. I think he is the only brotha left so he should be easy to spot.

I'm glad my brother didn't learn MMA. It was bad enough being held upside down whenever he felt like beating me down. Then one day he couldn't lift me and he wasn't brushing my punches off and dominating - we tore up half the basement but I felt I got his respect that day even though he finished me off brutally. I'm gonna check out the weigh-ins in a bit. I recorded them this afternoon. They aired on THE SCORE on the westcoast, and on Rogers Sportsnet's regional feeds in 2 - 3 of the other parts of Canada per their programming. Also recorded a 1-hour special on MMA Connected that I'ma check out. All caught up on TUF 13 and the UFC Primetime specials ... looking forward to the event tomorrow. Gonna be cool seeing how the event plays out. Largest North American event to-date, and second only to the huge crowds they drew for Pride in Japan in years past. The cameras / lights / screens / crowd noise should be something else to take in!

Big props to Rory M'. That cat has been training since he was 13yo and has many years to learn / get stronger (at 21 now). Reppin' our province of B.C. nicely and training with Tri-Star in Montreal now - those 3 suplexes were dope - especially the 3rd one

As for Fight of the Night ... ALDO/HOMINICK. And all the bonuses for the night got $129,000 (per 129 being the event). The cats in July 2009 who got bonuses at UFC 100 got $100,000 extra

Feedback from the BGOL fam' on April 29th & 30th ---------->

True - GSP fights with technique and safety. He still got bruised up pretty quickly, but easily styled and outclassed Shields. Definitely anti-climatic after that instant classic from those warriors (ALDO/HOMINICK). GSP-SILVA isn't happening any time soon ... we'll probably see GSP-DIAZ and JONES-SILVA (perhaps at a catchweight or at 205?) before then. * Fucked up too about the 3rd round (or was it 2nd?) cut/scratch that GSP got to his cornea or lower eyelid. Fucked up his vision, as he noted, and he was blurred for the final few rounds and post-fight ... and was basically in cruise control. I just wish he would FINISH people. He's damn good, but has been coasting. Nearly 3 rounds with HUGHES / 5 rounds with FITCH / 4 rounds with PENN / 5 rounds with ALVES / 5 rounds with HARDY / 5 rounds with KOSCHECK / 5 rounds with SHIELDS.

saw that gsp segment. dude is doing training in gymnastics. don't know if it'll be helpful or not in the ring, but just the fact that he's thinkin outside the box on training and improving his balance considering he's already a world champ should make any of his opponents pause. like he's always lookin for ways to improve his game.

I still got GSP, but I think Shields will make this fight interesting. The place where GSP is good as is on the ground, but what makes this interesting is that Shields has never been submitted in a MMA match and he is a ADCC champion with good wrestling. GSP knows damn well he can do his usual lay in the guard and he has to take risk which leaves him exposed to getting swept and Shields on top. I suspect Jake to shoot early. In the end I think GSP's conditioning will keep him out of trouble and force jake into the later rounds where GSP will turn up the heat.

Great card, not surprised by the main event, just surprised it was on the feet so much. This should end all GSP vs Silva for p4p fighter debates really...this was GSP's Maia, a guy with little to no striking ability but got put in the hospital. I like GSP but I just don't see him at Silva's level whatsoever.​

Sorry - just posted all the links I could find. I prefer Megaupload myself, and just record the show when it airs weekly and watch it the next morning. They air a decent number of repeats on Spike and Rogers Sportsnet (in Canada) and you can also stream the episodes at the ULTIMATE FIGHTER site as well as through Spike.com ^

aight....finally watched UFC 129....great card....great fights....

the GSP fight was good IMO....I don't know what else cats want from Rush ....dude was dominate as I predicted....Shields = Hype....dude couldn't do anything....

2 issues I had with GSP...I didn't like how he reacted when he was busted up....dude looked shock to bleed in a fight ....

if he fights Diaz or Silva he better expect to get busted up....

also I didn't like how he had a chance to take out Shields but hesitated...after that Serra fight homie has become too much of a safety 1st fighter....he won't open up his game for fear he may risk getting that L....but even a hesitate GSP is great....

He will beat Diaz....

I got Silva beating him @ 185....seems like GSP may want a catchweight if they do fight.....

P' - Yes ... it should be interesting moving forward. Hominick held his own in there and if he strings together 2 - 3 solid wins, he'll probably get his rematch with Aldo at some point in 2012. Aldo had an infection leading up to the event, and was taking antibiotics (hence the difficult weight cut and his cardio' being tested), also coming off of injury as he had to bow out of his bout with Josh Grispi at UFC 125 back on January 1st, 2011 due to injury/surgery. Anderson Silva is certainly dominant. The only time we've ever really seen him in trouble was against Sonnen in August 2010 (and even then Sonnen's piss test wasn't clean, plus Silva was nursing rib injury/injuries at the time and still came back to win in Minute 22 / Minute 23 at the final hour!). GSP ... yeah ... he fights safely/smartly, but unfortunately is trying to "preserve his legacy". In his older fights in the early-2000s he went for it and took risks ... challenged people. Sure ... he's dominated/owned people like he's done with HARDY / PENN / FITCH / ALVES and others ... but over the course of time he hasn't taken alot of damage, which is why he reacts as he does once he takes a few shots. He realized he fucked up in 2007 when he tried to throw with Serra and got clipped and lost his title, so moving forward against Koscheck (in 2007), Serra and Fitch (2008) ... Penn and Alves (2009) ... Hardy and Koscheck (2010) and Shields ... he's been playing it carefully/cautiously and maintaining his dominance in boring fashion. Also, the injury (corneal abrasion or whatever it was) that affected him in Rounds 2/3 moving forward threw off his vision and depth perception, which is why his punching power and accuracy was way off. Remember how crisp he looked with his jab in December 2010 against Kos'? Hell ... he was throwing looping right hands against Shields last Saturday. Some connected / others didn't. Seemed anti-climatic after how much of a great battle ALDO-HOMINICK was in the co-main event . But yeah ... the whole card on the whole delivered. So many exciting stoppages and submissions. Props to everyone on the card for delivering in front of nearly 56,000. Damn. 3rd largest attendance in MMA history (Top 2 = Japan). Largest crowd in N. American history.
