Afternoon PPV on Saturday, June 16th.

Who's gonna take it ... former champ Rich Franklin or Japanese fighter Yushin Okami (currently on a 6-win streak)?

I'm really not sure... before the Silva fight I would have said Rich Franklin but now I just don't know. Haven't seen enough of Okami to be sure though. But Rich is a pretty damn complete fighter. Either way i'm really looking forward to it.

True.

- Rich's overall game is solid
- As is Silva's ... Anderson really destroyed him in their fight ^
- Okami's got a good pace ... good striker

Interesting you should mention Silva. Here's a fight with him/Okami (ended in DQ). Interesting COMMENTS.

RECAP + INFORMATION: THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER - SEASON 5 - LIGHTWEIGHT DIVISION - SPIKE TV :

- http://www.spiketv.com :

Thursday, June 14th - Manny Gamburyan (Karo Parisyan's cousin) defeated Joe Lauzon in the first semifinal and will face the winner of Diaz/Maynard (come June 23rd)

Thursday, June 21st - The upcoming second semi-final this season which will feature Nate Diaz (Nick's younger brother) vs. Gray Maynard (freestyle/wrestling; trains with Randy Couture's camp)

Saturday, June 23rd - The Ultimate Fighter Season Finale (season 5). Keep an eye out for it in the evening ... and Spike always does a good job reairing the finales each season. They'll probably have it on 1 or 2 more times that evening, the next day and of course the following week (and some weeks afterward, if they so choose). You can't miss it. Hopefully it will be a good showdown between Gamburyan & Diaz/Maynard.

And if you missed parts of the season (or the whole thing) and wanna catch it in full ... keep an eye on http://www.ufc.com and/or your local listings. In the past 4 seasons they've always done a great job doing a MARATHON that same day. Usually there are around 12 episodes or so for the season. In/around there. And I know in the past they've gone and started airing the season in its entirety on the day of the finale starting around 6/7AM or so and going all the way up to the finale itself. Maybe they'll do it again for this season. I don't have TiVO, but I've thrown 8 hour VHS tapes in before and dubbed the shit for my bro/pops and others. Enjoy.

Hey Helicopter thanks for the update and thanks for that fight of Silva and Okami had heard about but never saw it. By the way without spoiling it for anyone, but the second hour last thursday showed the Diaz/ Maynard fight. I went to work the next day and had to argue with my co-workers that I actually saw it. I know usually the second hour is just a repeat but it was the 2nd fight. Did anybody else notice it??

Oh fuck ... say word? I had a bad feeling that might happen. Really? I'll have to catch a repeat this coming week. Hmm ... the way it was listed in the paper here it said:

7- 8pm - The Ultimate Fighter (N)
8 - 9pm - The Ultimate Fighter

I've always assumed the (N) in the tv guide denoted new programming, as it usually ends up pertaining to same. Figured the 2nd hour was just a repeat like they've done this season. MY BAD. Thanks for the clarification, bro :) ^

Yeah man I was bugging out.. don't know if Spike made a mistake or not, but it was cool as hell to come to work the next day and know what happened next week

Word. I went and checked UFC's site and it listed the results. They should have better explained it the week prior, huh? Lol. At least tell the viewers (they get a few million weekly) ... tune in for back-to-back episodes (or "2 hours worth of programming") ... my bad, lol.

No worries though ... they're gonna re-air it this Thursday (21st) as well (with the finale, as planned, come Saturday the 23rd). Thanks for the information, Coolie. Props, bro.

JOHNIZ,

Huge props, bro. You know a MMA thread is fire when you email the link to yourself twice (for good measure), and have it bookmarked in your Favorites folder as:

"BGOL - JOHNIZ - UFC - Great thread"

^ lol ^

REMINDER for everyone that the ULTIMATE FIGHTER 5 marathon is taking place right now on SPIKE TV - Saturday, June 23rd.

It's 9:35am PST here ... and they're airing it from 6am - 6pm (all 12 episodes) followed by the Ultimate Fighter 5 finale ... LIVE ... from the Palms. That's from 6 - 9pm PST, so check ya'lls local listings in various states/coasts/provinces & so on. All the best, fam'. Should be good.

MANNY GAMBURYAN (Karo Parisyan's cousin) vs. NATE DIAZ (Nick Diaz's younger brother) = fighting in the LIGHTWEIGHT finale for the UFC contract

And the rematch ... JENS PULVER vs. BJ PENN.

They last fought in mid-January 2002 ... so the rematch is here just under 5.5 years later. Should be a good one. Enjoy!

Thanks again COOLIE for the heads-up about the Maynard/Diaz fight being on the back-to-back episodes' 2nd one.

I finally got a chance to check it out this past Thursday (June 21st). Good stuff.

Who's gonna win it tonight on the live finale? I have a feeling that GAMBURYAN might overwhelm DIAZ with his punching power & ferocity. He goes balls to the wall each time out ... whereas Diaz is more cautious/calculated & quite tactical (especially once it's on the ground). Lots of submission maneuvering once down there ... only problem though is that as mentioned ... Manny's quite powerful and unloads some heavy hands when he's got position on his opponent (even if Diaz were to try and lock up his arm, leg or ankle ... or try for a choke).

As for PULVER/PENN and their rematch ... I'm hoping BJ pulls off the win. Both are solid fighters ... hopefully it's a good one. Tonight. Lookin' forward to it.

JOHNIZ,

Any chance there might be a re-up floating around for the GRIFFIN/RAMIREZ fight? I have the Franklin/Okami + Tan/Davis ones ... but last Sunday when I tried to get Griffin's bout it didn't load properly for me, now the Mediafire linkage from Shoniecarter's down.

Also ... by chance did he (Shoniecarter) or anyone else happen to possibly upload any of the other fights?

Props on the drops, JOHNIZ.

I was hoping to see more of ANDY WANG's supposedly strong jiu-jitsu game both during the season 5 series, and last night against Cole Miller. Unfortunately Brandon Melendez beat him up 1/3rd the way through the season, and the following just about sums it up for him ... last night against COLE MILLER. Good picture to use on the boards OWNED-wise, fam'.
