Improving your Credit and Credit Score

I have decent credit now, thanks to advise from this board and creditboards.com. I did just find out that the state of Illinois just put a negative account on my report though. These fuckers are saying I have unpaid tolls on a car that I've never owned!!!! The worst part of this shit is now all the legwork Imma have to do to get this shit fixed.

I went from chapter 7 bankruptcy to buying a house in two years thanks to credit boards....... Invaluable resource

I'm not apart of this. However, I do know some of the people that are apart of this org. They have a call M-F 10 am and again at 5pm pst. the number is 712-432-0490 pin 349 329#
Stay blessed.

Just pulled my credit report for free. It has ZERO negatives on it. Used the annualcreditreport.com free site on here. Good info. Now i am curious what i score is on all three now! Didn't even know my shit was that tight, just knew i wasn't late on anything in a while.

I was just looking into tips to improve my credit, since I'm considering house hunting. Anyone know if there is any fact to what I just quoted? Not saying mailboxpimp doesn't know what he's talking about but it somewhat doesn't make sense. Submitting a validation along with a dispute online should have the same result as a letter. Is there a reason why a letter would be better? What logical reason would it be to not type up a letter in black ink or to use colored paper? Can't they just read and respond?

Maybe I'm missing something.

ink color means something..... so does the area & angle in which you sign legal documents...

ex
Red ink
In some states, bonds are canceled using red ink. Sovereigns therefore sign many legal documents and correspondence in red ink to signify that they are canceling the bond attached to their birth certificate or corporate self. Others believe the color of the ink represents the blood of the flesh-and-blood person.

Documents submitted to a court, including motions, complaints, and other requests, must follow the formatting guidelines contained in the court's local rules of procedure. These rules can be strict and vary considerably from court to court. In some jurisdictions, the rules do not specify what color of ink should be used on legal documents. But, other jurisdictions, such as the Ross County Court in Ohio, require that blue ink be used when signing documents. This rule is in place to ensure that the judge is able to distinguish between the original document and any copies. Failure to sign the document in blue ink in jurisdictions that require it can result in a court order to resubmit the documents, and you also may be reprimanded by the judge. It is always good practice to research the local rules of procedure or consult an attorney before you submit any paperwork to the court.

The CFPB is making the CRAs change up the way they do business. It should be getting easier to dispute.

My credit is already good but I want it to be a cool 800. I paid a guy last year 100 dollars to fix my credit. Now I'm a in the high 700s. Only thing I still got on it now is student loans. If y'all want his number pm me.

720 with one late payment from 2012 that I can't get off. I try calling the bank about it, but it's one of those bootleg credit cards so they act like they can't speak English well.

Thanks, again for this I totally forgot about it. I'm doing the steps now, hopefully by the end of the year, all things will be in order.

Man , you don't have to pay anybody to do that stuff. My score is 868 and it got there from high 700s without me paying anybody but paying shit off.
If you already have good credit, just pay shit off and your score will increase.

Well, we're you late or not?
If you were not late , then dispute it yourself through the credit agencies by submitting evidence to support your position. If they don't take it off , sue them.

Ideally that's what you'd do but its not always that easy. My credit took a hit back in 08 when I moved out of my apartment and the managment tried to make me pay for trash bill a trash bill they tried to get me to pay from the previous tenant on the first day I moved in. I had been fussing with managment about that when I got there. smh: How I got a outstanding 165 dollar trash bill on the first day I moved in? :hmm:

I had other minor disputes to clean up where I wasn't just going to pay it off. It is cheaper to pay the 100 dollars and have it fixed than deal with these nickle and diming ass people who want to be difficult about how much I should pay.

Just In case you don't want to here the whole story...lol

1. check your score(use the free sites like credit karma and sesame even though they are not precise they give you an idea)

2. get the secured card (I used the Capital One)

3. if you are in a credit union take a small signature loan (no credit check)for your holiday shopping(make a budget though its not free money!!)

3. pay on time all the time

4. If you credit is supper jacked recently (and you did it) you may have to wait a few years like i did to start building you can still get the secured card it will cost slightly more though.

5. wait 8 months, and apply for another card (research cards and what score it takes to get them)

Always remember that if you don't make the cash to cover it you are fucking yourself...lol. If you have credit and no job...you are fucking yourself!!
If you don't pay on time you are fucking yourself!!!

No one teaching us about credit when you are growing up and the sooner your learn the better off you will be in the long run. I'm planning to ad my kids to my accounts when they are of age(no giving them a card). But the longer you have credit in good standing the better your score is.

I can tell you all what worked for me. My credit was crap from my college days and I had a repo on top of that from 2006. I was dead in the water so I didn't even do anything with my credit. Fast forward to 2008, I quit my job and moved my family back home to Houston. I got a job in IT but couldn't get approved for a car loan so my girlfriend had to do it. 2010 came and I decided i needed something so I get the secured Capital one card for 99 bucks(which add to your credit line). Next 2013 I got better job so we needed a 2nd vehicle so I went to buy here pay here place and bought a whip after three months of paying on the car they move it lender(shows on your credit report). I rocked that out until march 2014 and my score was in the mid 600s. I was able to get a Walmart credit and a discover it card. We started looking for a bigger place and found out I could get a house with my credit!!!! Closed in august, on a house and in November was able to qualify for 1.8% on a new car with no issues.

Now on myfico.com you can purchase all of your credit scores from each bureau that the lenders pull. I put in a mortgage application in about 6 weeks ago and the Tri merged credit scores that the mortgage lender pulled were spot on with what I got from fico and that was big because you could not get mortgage scores anywhere else but from a lender.

Also if you buy reports and score from fico you will get your auto enhanced fico score and a bankcard enhanced fico.

This is a good tool for anyone who is trying to get a mortgage or thinking about a car loan because all of these scores are exactly 2 hat lenders will pull.

Use credit for everything and pay up when the bill comes. Too easy. I'm at 780.

Katts want it to be harder than this but its not! ^This is the best way to improve your score. As easy as it was for you to mess up your score by simply not paying or/and paying late payments its just as easy to fix up by making on time payments and paying off that debt. The problem most people have is not realizing that your score will drop quick but it will take awhile to raise back up. Just pay your bills on time and pay off what you can asap. And if you already have negative things on your report just wait seven years and it will drop off then your score will really rise if you have been paying everything else on time.

great advice

and salute to everyone who shared their knowledge.

but sadly many people can't pay more then the minimum at times...

I try to tell people just NEVER pay late and if you CAN don't wait until the bill is due...

pay something in the middle of the month or pay a few dollars OVER the minimum.

BUDGET and live within your means.

Cut that cable bill or at least reduce the package

Share your Netflix or HBO Go with close family if you can.

Try not to eat out so much and if you do get a doggie bag and bring it for lunch the next day...

Pack your own lunch.

I have a few hundred automatically taken out my check and put into a separate account.

Call your credit card and ask for a lower apr or a credit limit increase.

You can call gas electric and cell phone companies and ask for an extension.

this thread is FILLED with simple and effective advice. should be a sticky in the business forum.

Haven't read this post yet but has it been mentioned to simply dispute a charge all the way to the CEO's office?
