I'm I the only one getting tired of all these slave shows, movies, mini series consistently dropping

sorry fam you're on your own. id rather them throw it in our face than have them deny it ever happened like theyre trying to do now.

When's the last time there was an Holocaust movie?? They cant die that but the Jews won't greenlight too many of those (Schindler's List, Bastards of the Party).

Why do our best actors at one point in their career have to be relegated to slave roles? How many movies, shows must be made about the same subject?

It's like they consistently throw this shit in our face as a reminder:angry:
I agree. All we ever were slaves and then MLK came and that's our history
:smh:
So glad Birth of a Nation is coming. We need more of those.
Gimme some Florida Seminoles, give me some Gullahs , give me some Hannibal.
Don't give me a movie were negros getting whipped and white daddy come save em.
Fuck that!

There are no less than 5 of those every single year starring either Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Adrien Brody, Clive Owen or George Clooney and sometimes a combination of them all in the same movie.

Who's our best actors relegated to slave roles? The underground is full of unknown actors and journeypeople and is a show displaying how we fought and pulled off the most amazing system in american history. The underground railroad.

I agree OP..its not our ONLY history..

It's not our only history but we've had what 50 years post slavery in this country? We haven't even had a history past slavery yet. 50 years ago we'd be on the back of a fucking bus somewhere not able to look at white women without being hung and nobody will pay for the crime..

I don't take it as a diss. I like it. keep these memories alive maybe it'll inspire us to never forget and to fight. we are nowhere near the part of getting over it. we haven't even studied the psychological trauma that's been passed down.
And then we'll make a thread talking about how come black people love the church.

LEARN HOW.

And the funny thing is there aren't really any slave movies being made like that. 2 slave shows? 1 is a mini series reboot and the other is about us fighting for our freedom.

the most popular show we have right now is probably black-ish which is this generations cosby show

C'mon LB: Last Major Holocaust movie was seven years ago:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Holocaust_films

And I said AT ONE POINT, all of our top actors have been slaves in movies.

what do they consider holocaust movies?
and like i said there aren't many slave movies as it is. not enough to beat you over the head. there are more movies starring 90's straight to dvd sensation brian hooks than there are slave movies.

name all of our top actors? you talking top actors of the old guard or the new? i don't remember a whole lot of them in slave movies. denzel and who else? keep in mind denzel is 60 years old and shit but who else?

it's all bullshit.

whitey is only doing this to appease ninjas.

he'll NEVER admit and NEVER seek redemption for mistreating black people in this country.

ninjas should quit making parodies and make things real.

There's a series, mini series and two movies coming out this year alone!!

Django had Jamie Foxx, Sam Jackson and Kerri Washington in it. You cant tell me those aren't some of our biggest stars

I agree with the OP. One thing about the slave movies they never really go to deep on how evil white folks are. They just scratch the surface, but they won't peel back layers and show the real evils of the slavery.

Very true.....one thing about these shows and movies is that in a white supremacist system they like to point a "few" bad white folks instead of showing how the "majority" of white people "collectively" participated and benefited from white supremacy.

It's the same narrative they use whenever white people shoot up shit in public...."He was a lone wolf"...the "lone gunman" .....the same narrative for these movies...."that slave master was evil"......"those good white people helped those misfortunate negroes"....."not all white people mistreated enslaved black people"......never denying the mistreatment but never snitching on their own.

When's the last time there was an Holocaust movie?? They cant die that but the Jews won't greenlight too many of those (Schindler's List, Bastards of the Party).

That was a bad example. I can understand what you mean... but that's a bad example. There is a new Holocaust-related movie out every fucking week...seriously. It may not be Holocaust-only but there are a lot of ties to it in their movies. I watch a lot of international movies too so I'm not just thinking through the big hollywood budget films.

i feel you though..i'm usually not with the Slave movies and shit but the series Underground is top notch TV man..

I haven't watched any of the new slave series yet but that's what I came to say. If they are adding new perspectives on slavery that isn't commonly told I say they should keep them coming.

I agree with bills I'd rather than have these shows than try to deny it.

But I feel you OP, slavery isn't our only history. I'd actually like to see more stories about blacks post slavery tho, like reconstruction are or boardwalk empire.

We tend to see so few dynamic roles for black tv shows.

this year. there is a holocaust related or nazi movie with an a list star coming out every single year

right. you name 1 movie thats not even a 4th of all our stars.

and again each movie is its own

if yall cant get behind a series showing slaves fighting masters. killing them. running to freedom and fighting for it then i dont know what to tell you

the best show on tv almost is about the underground railroad.

you want to stop seeing slaves saved by white daddy

watch the show.

I see your points but I don't need to see the same shit over when it's 1/10 of the real truth. IMO these movies are taking the sting out slavery to some folks. Now if they show the full savagery of slavery it may wake some people up.

It's TV so they will embellish for entertainment purposes. That's the double edge sword of these shows on TV.

Man.... don't shit look good about our people being broadcasted to the world in our most fucked up place in history.

Why isn't there more Ancient Egypt movies? Hell, a civil rights movie? Something showing us in a dominant or advancing state.. not motherfucker property

Every damn year?

Why not complain about all the Nazi “this & that” against Jews TV programing shown over and over EVERY SINGLE DAY on cable.

But only focus on the few shows about Slavery or the Civil Rights movement.

Is the month of February is too much also?

Too bad if we're tired of them... CACs love these shows.

Makes them feel good about their heritage. Louis C.K. made the joke about how he watches NFL/NBA games and is amazed at how wimpy white guys like himself enslaved those guys

It's like they consistently throw this shit in our face as a reminder:angry:

its not so much a reminder, I think they fantasize about it...

and think if they show it enough it would manifest...

I refuse to watch 12 days a slave or the butler or even the roots remake...

now I will watch django..dope any time a brother kills evil cacs and gets the woman at the end... is alllright with me....

and I will give nat turner a chance.. even though we all know how its gonna end...

truth is, there were waaaay more rebellions then they are even telling us....

in fact most were runaway enslaved folk...

in fact there were stories of our enslaved antcestors poisoning

all the crackers in the house, owner wife and children and working the fields like nothing ever happend,

when folks would come to investigate they would get got,

they would sell whatever it was they were harvesting, keep the profits and then move on to other states..

when cacs realized they were no match they would get the strongest amongest them, have him sell out to keep the rest in check.. many times it worked out, many times it backfired and the brother went back to his people...

remember cacs wrote the main narrative.. so he only gonna tell the parts of history that takes out his Ls aka losses and civilizes his savagery....

its a damn shame a lot of us dont talk the elders, some of them have some reallly good stories to tell....

but you are a hunid with your thread..

fuck these hollywood cant let it go slave dramas...

we need to make a movie about hollywood pedophilia

and rampant faggotry!!!

You keep talking about our history but then you want to claim history you don't know if it belongs to you . Now you just claiming all inclusive but quick to point out how Africa isn't just one country. Well it fdoesn't have just one history either.

Your history here in America for the most part is 500 years and most of that was under slavery, peonage and Jim Crow.

Then you say Civil Rights but obviously don't know what that was because when the Butler and the Help was realeased many cried about that depiction but obviosuly didn't realize that was a real time. It all wasn't Selma Marches.

You mofokrs are focused on white people far too much instead of looking at the stregnth and edurance of an oppressed people..

and when I look at Box Office cats ain't supporting Black Movies that deal with positivity but you mofokrs will run to watch some white super hero.

Underground was a great series and I can'r wait until next season cause Ms Tubman is now of the scene.....btw the the historialy challenged if you don't want to see good white people don't watch because they did participate and assist on the UR.

but focus.. it ain't about the white people who helped its about the black struggle and dare to sacrifice, the rather die to be free stregnth...

Roots was a great series when it came out and was seen by US all....Because of its age it is dated so hopefully the remake is as great because the new generation needs to see it to know.

I'll never forget thee scene when Kizzy spit in that bitch water or when Chicken George bitched up those crakkas.

The most fucked up time in our history that the whole world sees is these negativity promoting rappers so fuck what you heard it damn sure wasn't our people during slavery.

I completely agree... plus the youth of today need to see this shit. All these kids walking around have no idea of where we came from. Hell I was born in the tail end of the 70s and I remember how rough it was being Black in the 80s in West Tennessee. I still have a mark on my face from where I was jumped by some white boys in grade school after they called me a ******. Hell 90s weren't that much different... I also grew up in the area where 7 black churches were burned. One was my home Churches sister Church, Jones Grove.

I think people need to see our history and not just other races.... I think we need to see it for ourselves. We need to remember that the struggle is never over and get over this fucking me first attitude that developed since the 2000's hit.

The Nat Turner flick is the only slave movie that I'm looking forward to. Hollywood is only willing to tell one story of the slave narrative and that usually has a white man coming to save the day. Nat Turner will change that narrative.

As long as white people own, control, and dominate Hollywood....

Black people will never be accurately informed of their powerful Afrikan history through movies and film.
Agreed! I tell people dnt think cause oprah n tyler perry got sum money dnt think they will give u sum positive stuff...

Was hearing you out until this.

Black movies aren't available in mass as much as their counterparts so box office is a bad judgment of support.

Who's focusing on white people ?

I don't watch them. They just infuriate me. I will never blank it out of my mind, what happened to our ancestors, but im tired of seeing our people represented in that manner. We're way more than that.

Clearly none of you have watched the fucking underground
