I have a confession. I'm ashamed to this day because of my actions, but here it goes: By the time Bush's second term came around, I hated that man and wanted him gone but I voted for him anyway because I didn't think it was a good idea to change the CIC in the middle of a war. I now know better and today, knowing what I know now, I would have voted differently. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who made that decision for that reason.
That said, I'm not sure this would work for Trump. Bush wasn't that long ago, and I'm sure people who voted like I did won't make that same mistake. If anything I think people would want him out to have someone actually competent to run the country during wartime. The impeachment hearings have brought out that he is running rogue foreign policy, and doing it poorly. He has gutted the state department, all the great minds have left. Most of the people who stood up to his foolishness have gone. He can't be trusted. Military recruitment centers are in poor and black areas for a reason. I'm not sure people want to send their family to die on Trump's word.
I'm also wondering if some of the former generals who have refused to speak out against a sitting president will change their minds and go against protocol to attempt to save the country. The administration lies constantly. Supposedly for the past 3 years he had to go to Putin and his intelligence sources because ours couldn't be trusted and believed, but suddenly they're the bees knees. His being in office when there is danger is an argument
for getting rid of him. He's impulsive and incompetent and working outside our intelligence agencies. The DNC should be running ads to this effect non stop.
