I Would Bench Rothleisberger For Leftwich

naw, i PLAYED football, i KNOW FOOTBALL. making READS has NOTHING to do with MOBILITY and delivery, but everything to do with quick decisions. Peyton Manning doesnt have a quick release, but he makes QUICK decisions. Leftwich makes quicker decisions with the ball and trusts his arm to get it into tight coverage, whereas Rothleisberger doesnt have the arm strength to do that. Sure, he (leftwich) has a big windup, but thats not his problem, he is just tall and lanky, and stays in the pocket, thus, the injuries.

Making reads wont do you any good if it takes you forever and a day to get the ball to where you made the read. Which is why Leftwith lost his job to his bsackup from East Carolina weeks before the season started and didn't manage to catch on in Atlanta. To his credit, he did beat out Dante Culpepper. Big whoop. You his cousin?

Troybliss to replace Matt Millen as GM of the Detroit Lions

However you spell his name, i would bench Ben for Leftwich. The steelers offensive line is awful, thus, they need a quarterback who can make faster reads and get rid of the ball. Ben is only good when the running game is working, thus, using playaction. Other than that, he is a scrub. The Pittsburgh coach wouldnt make that move because of the controversy, but guaranteed if it didnt cause controversy, he wouldve yanked Ben by now. Leftwich gets a raw deal from fans because of his injuries. The kid can play.

Then next week the headlines would read, "The Steelers fire Troybliss for benching Big Ben for quarterback Byron Leftwich."

Nigga you must be out of your mind. Byron is slow as fuck and doesn't make good decisions.

You sir know nothing about football. Leftwich is less mobile than drew bledsoe and my 14 month old son has a faster wind up and delivery than him. his jacked up mechanics and inability to move are what fucked up his career. He got a fair shot in atlanta and couldnt hack it

AGREED!!!

you sound like a fucking honky

leftwich is only the slowest black qb......he's faster than those honkies

it's funny how the only qb's that have to be quick are the black ones

all those slow ass honkies just "need the line to block" for them

We agree with this thread 100%!!!!!!

sign..... Cleveland, Baltimore, Cincinnati, and fuck it the whole AFC

attacking the messenger doesn't change the message

After reading this whole thread I deem 85% of it bullshit. Ben won the super bowl off of the run the defense and his recievers hell hines ward had the only touchdown pass for the steelers in the bowl. left wich needs to be set out on the curb for bfi cuz hes garbage. I read somone said ben was in the top three of quarterbacks, hes not even in the top 5 of the afc how can he be in the top 3 of the league. the o line is horrible the run game suffers because of it and parker along with mcghaee or portis or soft injury pron marshmallows.

 So who's top 3 in the AFC? Name 5 better quarterbacks in the AFC because i'm calling bullshit. I got Brady and Manning ahead of him and that's due to their past history.

i Rest My Case. Leftwich Should Start.

You rest your case because of 1 game  Leftwich has performed horribly when he has had to step in before. He knew he had to step it up tonight. Roethlisberger is still the right man for the job...he just needs better protection. Ben tends to hold on to the ball a little long sometimes, but that O-line is the main problem. It's porous and they need to kill that shit quick.

I Don't Think They Should Bench Ben. Just Play Him Until He Can't Play Anymore. They Could Also Let Him Heal And Play Leftwich. Ben Looks Hurt. He Can Barely Lift His Right Arm. Playing Depends On His Condition.

it appears that the OP might be on to something. Leftwich looked much better than Ben tonight. It DOES look like he can read the defense better than Ben. His delivery is slower but he reads the D and lets it go. Ben just holds it and waits for the sack

thats what i been saying. EVERYBODY is afraid to admit that ben isnt nothing spectacular. i have nothing against him, its just a observation. ANY decent quarterback can play in the schemes that pittsburgh ran over the last few years because its not complicated. just pound the ball and playaction. now that the line isnt as good, they need a PLAYMAKER QUARTERBACK and its exposed ben as being not up to par. if pittsburgh defense wasnt as good as it is, they would be getting pounded every week with rothleisburger at quarterback. he reminds me of rex grossman.

Ben needs to sit until he recovered from his injuries. He's trouble hitting receivers and just plains hangs on the ball too long. I can see it in his face that he's lost some confidence.

Maybe playing against his old team, the superstition, and the freaking star aligned for Leftwich to pull it off:eek:

Anyways, he did his thing last night, and the D-line trashed Campbell with 7 sack and 2 ints

By the last 5, they've given up

HMMMMM........

How can I say this? A white town gonna bench a white boy with a ring for a brutha??

NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!

told You Ben Aint Shit, He Cant Read Defenses And Gets Rattled Too Easily. He Hides Behind Pittsburgh Running Game. He Tried To Blame The "little Receivers Last Year. Scrub, Put Leftwich In.

Byron Leftwich

The rest I leave to you...

As for the QB situation, yea Byron is much more efficient than Ben. Some of you here say that Byron isn't mobile, but how much more mobile is Ben?

Byron will at least get rid of the ball when the pressure is on. Unlike Ben who holds that bitch forever.

C/S to the fullest!

exactly. when teams play press coverage on pittsburgh, ben doesnt have the gun to force it into tight coverage, thus, when he gets intercepted, he gets nervous and hangs on to the ball. thats ONE of his problems. the second is he doesnt find the open receiver quick enuf.

Tomlin isn't gonna bench ben. That's a huge call to make. What if he makes that call and the team is worse. If I were coach, my team would be like a baseball team. Call in the relief QB. LOL, anything to win the fuckin game.

This is getting annoying

Maybe its time to bench Ben until its time

I just hope Byron can start as well as close this

This shit is getting annoying

You Steelers fan, and Mike Tomlin especially need to face the music... Ben is not the QB everyone thought he was. That Super Bowl year, he had monsters around him and stepped into a glorious position, that was it. But by no means will Ben Roethlisberger win you a game.

Like homey here said, in press coverages, this dude can't thread needles. And he's rattled fairly easily after 3 and outs or picks. Him not finding receivers either is a lack of field vision. Jaws broke it down himself. His peripheral view isn't like a Tony Romo or Tom Brady. Its very limited, but then again who needs ill peripherals when you have stout defense and a monstrous running game.

What I've never liked about him, which has made me weary about dude from jump is if this dude has to throw more than 20-25 times, consider it done. He's a wrap. He's not a passing man's QB, and we all know the AFC with exception to who else, THE STEELERS, is a passing conference, so asking Ben to pass to win a game is like asking Tony Romo to hold onto a ball, it aint happening.

Coincidence? I think not.

thanx, thats basically the way it is. ben got that free ride with that great team he was surrounded by like you said. remember, last year he blamed it on "the little wide receivers." lol
