I watched the first season on Netflix and it was just OK, I don't get the hype. I can't stand the talking a mile a minute, its too over the top and not realistic to me. I know some grimey ass shit happens in DC, but...maybe Im missing something. Im going to watch season 2 this weekend on Netflix. Maybe I missed the "magic" of this show. I got friends/family having viewing parties and Im sitting there like this :hmm:

Well, Im happy for Kerry Washingtons success.

 its funny you say that "talking a milea minute", I keep telling my wife the show sounds like an episode of Speed Racer, they speek whole sentences without pauses. Wtf is that?

Women hate the thought of being cheated on but love Olivia Pope?:rolleyes:

Deep down black women know Scandal is poorly written/acting drivel. But it has a black woman as the lead and is desired by a white man. A lot of black women are trying to live vicariously through this series.

That show is barely watchable. I'm happy for the black female lead, and hope for more to come, but let's be real... it sucks.

i watch it jus cuz its set in the city.

alot of that shit is very realistic. it should make americans sad that national politics is basically 75% theater. some is over the top tho.

black women like it cuz its rare to see a black woman in power on tv. nvm the fact that she's basically a whore for powerful men...and has daddy issues... and is in love with a married white man.

if a black prez had a cute white sidepiece that he fell in love with... lol oh man... the same chicks that watch this would be boycotting the show. in fact everybody would...

the dialougue and the delivery are farsical

there was an episode when she got a military dictator to give up his kids(which he had a legal right to take) because Olivia Pope threatedned to help support his wife if she wrote a tell all book.

HAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA I howled at that bullshit

I watched the first season off of all the talk about how good it was.
Probably one of the worst shows i've ever seen.
The characters are cliche and boring.I like Kerry (of course) but in EVERY
scene she's either crying or looks like she's about to cry.

Peace

Having never ever heard of this show before, I read the title and I had already guessed what the comments would say about the show inside. I guess any kind of validation is enough to get a particular demographic praising a show/movie (I.e. Tyler Perry)

Ugly truths are better than pretty lies.

Fake marriages (bearing false witness- a lie) is just as immoral as infidelity.

That's why ladies against adultery can be into it. Because the wife was a willing participant in a fake political marriage that wasn't based on true love.

A lot of black people have taken to this show because of the keeping it real factor. As we grow to be mature adults, we lose the brash realness of our feelings and the ability to share them in a real way (ie sugar-coating).

This show blows the lid off of all things fake. Kinda like what would happen if keeping it real went wrong then really right again. In the end, the white hat of truth always wins :)

Women love women in power.

They're the other side to The Good Wife.

Terrible and predictable show. After The Wire, The Shield, and BB, the bar has been raised for the small screen and Scandal doesn’t make it.

i watch it

but last half of last season and seems like for the future its going to be...how to be a sidepiece to a married man 101

her dad was right last episode. you could be secretary of state or chief of staff in the white house....but you want to be first lady? :smh:

for me it's 2 shows.

i enjoy the show where they fix issues of clients, that part is still good imo.

the other line with her and the president.. and her getting upset because the first lady is calling her a whore...for whatever strange reason... that whole aspect is basically why it's a hit. so i get why they're doing it. but i happen to think if they didn't play that up so much and went back to the fixing it would still be a hit

the marriage became fake when he cheated. it became fake when he had an affair, the wife played along because of the things at stake but if you think that she really didn't love him i don't know what you've been watching  all the shit she pulls and continues to pull?

and as far as real goes, how realistic is it that the dude is going to leave his wife to be with you...in real life?

Pops knocked her teeth out with words 1st episode didn't he!? Like pow! And reduced her to 10 years old within a 2nd. That shit...

"What did i tell you!? "

"WHAT did i TELL you."

"ugottabetwiceasgood"

"LOUDER!"

"You gotta be twice as good!"

YOU've got to be TWICE as good to get HALF of what they've got!"

Made me sit up in my chair. Reminded me of Hubb and Jordan when he got on her case. Dad's disappointment was PALPABLE son! He was thoroughly disgusted with her. Hell he basically called her a negro bedwench. He should've. Man that would've made bw who watch for the loving the whitey HOT! Probably would've rioted lmao. Loved it.

Nah remember. He never loved Milly. Milly was cheating on him during the first running remember? He got with Milly because his dad set him up with Milly. Did you like Cyrus this episode? lol "I'm an animal but i'm YOURRR Animal."

Mellie loves power... we all know that. She has plans for her future in politics. All he posturing about love for Fitz and fidelity is toward that end.

If she were to choose her future career or Fitz, she would chose the future career.

The infidelity caused her ego to be bruised, but love & pride are not the same thing.

Ask Fitz to choose between his career, Mellie & Olivia - he chose Olivia over all that fakery of politics and a political wife.

btw- keeping it real= going with your gut.

If you haven't watched season 2 yet then you haven't gotten to the "juicy" part that seemed to attract so many women viewers
I checked out season 1 and i thought it was very good. Then season 2 started with the soap opera shit and that's where I tuned out

All the shit she pulls? That's ego. The marriage was not based on love in the beginning. It was built on politics and getting ol boy elected president.

Exactly. Human beings dont talk this way. It seems fake and contrived.

I have to agree with this. My friend had a viewing party... a bunch of sistas showed up! She has been counting down the weeks and days-- I'm in another state from her, so thankfully I did not have to attend that mess. However she had pictures all over Facebook with the party.

Yep. We're in total agreement here. And please do trust, there's quite a few dudes i've seen leave their wives and children for bw of a LOT LESS CALIBER than Liv.
