I think I'm the only black woman in America that doesnt like "Scandal"..

:hmm:

That's no regional dialect--only Olivia Pope and her staff do that bullshit..have you ever noticed it's to music? Again, it's supposed to come off as slick, but to me it's annoying.

Lo. Everything ain't for everybody. Everybody doesn't talk the way you do. People are different. Saying that no one does it when there are people who do. Just means you haven't met them. I speak fast when i'm energetic and passionate about something. New Yorkers who're trying to get a point across speak like that. Yes i notice there's no music. I like that.

You watched 1 season. I'm asking why you watched a whole season but you don't like the show. Again. Everything isn't for everybody. I love the situations and drama of the show. TV is not real. It's fantasy based on reality. People like fantasy because it gives them an escape from their day to day.

Not everything is for everybody Lo. You don't like the show. You don't think it's realistic. Your opinion is noted. I like the show. I know people who've been in similar situations. That's just me. And that's just you sis.

I haven't really watched it but I record the show on my DVR to give it a rating.
DVR recordings due count towards the overall ratings of a show.

With this being the 1st black woman to star in a primetime show since (I think) Diahann Carroll, and a sista writing and executive producing it,
I had to show support.

Shonda Rhimes has seen every episode of The West Wing four or five times. I think anybody who loves television has, the super producer quipped during our visit to the set of Scandal last month.
But Rhimes wants to make it clear: her latest ABC drama is not The West Wing, even if it does spend time inside the White House and even if its characters do sound a lot like Aaron Sorkin penned their dialogue.
“The truth of the matter is everyone talks really fast because the script was seventy pages and I said, ‘I want all seventy pages, so everyone talk really fast,'" Rhimes said that day

duck tales.

so an attorney that works for a sitting us senator let U know that she has a disgusting career threatening sextape of her bleeding in somebody trifling mouth?

nah...

I'm not saying i believe him or not. I am going to say you'd be surprised what people get up too. All my boardhate against you aside, you seem like a pretty regular type guy. I often get to see the lowest of yt's sexual behavior.

And i'm telling you. They get up to some really wild shit, that people aren't privy too. People in government positions as well.

its crazy cause he said all of that and i was thinking it for a while now, you got all this shit and you gone throw it away to be the first lady....when senator dude was trying to get you to be all that you were pushing him away like nah bro i needs my power

their whole relationship.. just nah..

dad said the real, but it just drives her to disobey him. guess she must blame him for her moms death or something. when he said.. "you lifted your skirt and spread your knees"
i was like :eek: is he talking to his daughter?

i don't remember the milly stuff but you're probably right.

Cyrus is always crazy... my favorite part though was the vice president. when she had enough of him talking about her god. she was like i don't say shit about you being gay and adopting a brown baby and dragging her into all of your shit.. i keep it professional... and he had a look like "well got damn she's right" but he was about to do the very thing that he told olivia he wasn't going to do so maybe that will come out later. who knows.

i need to watch strike back before i go to tutoring

I didn't like the senator. No passion. And she was still in love with Fitz. Cyrus and the VP this whole episode was on point like a needle. Hell i even liked Fitz. You see how he charmed the panties off the VP? She would've slurped him down right there in the oval office you gave him 5 more minutes. And then when he gut punched Milly?

Wonnnnnnnnnnnderful.

and it isnt a new thing either

The West Wing did the same thing

I never said it was new. I said with this particular show it comes off as choreographed fluff.

Since you mention the West Wing...

I get it and then I don't. I can't think of many depictions of black women on television so when a decent one comes along AND in a soap operatic context, it may be hard for alot of women to resist.

But is it me or does this show CONSUME the women that watch it? I mean, does every status update have to be about Olivia Pope? I don't even watch the show and I have a sense of what's happening on it. I so want to say, "commenting on the show EVERY WEEK as it happens indicates that you have no life whatsoever", but I guess the broads say the same about us when it comes to football. :dunno::dunno:

Man i've got friends and they have watching groups on fb and will comment on fb at the same time. Like and do statuses on it and comment. I'm like how can ya'll watch the show AND talk about the show at the same time on facebook?

Maybe folks do talk like that. The west wing had characters talking like that.

Aaron Sorkin show. Dude is crazy with the Dialogue. Newsroom has people speaking like that too.

my point is why would that person (alleged atty. in a pretty powerful/ high profile position) divulge that info to him?

we're not talking about a 17 yr old that has a homegrown tape floating around.

we're talking about a sharp professional woman who understands the game pretty well if she's made it that far up the ladder...

the dialougue and the delivery are farsical

there was an episode when she got a military dictator to give up his kids(which he had a legal right to take) because Olivia Pope threatedned to help support his wife if she wrote a tell all book.

HAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA I howled at that bullshit

Yes, that's the season I watched. That episode was ridiculous.

yea i saw that shit coming when he offered her a drink then went into the whole "if you were a man i would offer you a drink" thing appealing to her gender equality side.

then went with the whole i apologize to you for letting you down making her feel empowered.

then the whole buy me some time to go on ahead and get my house in order etc.. he had her at that point.

for sure if he would've been like you can suck the evil out of me she would have said "i'll do my best for the glory of god"

Cyrus still fighting for his position back with the president lol. he out there on the war path for sure.

and The president, i don't necessarily like the "vic" aspect he ain't a vic not at all

Maybe folks do talk like that. The west wing had characters talking like that.

in any industry up north where everything is on deadlines and is time sensitive, people tend to talk faster than normal...when engaging in interoffice convo.

wall street, newspaper guys, ad agencies, lawyers, political
consultants, sales reps...

busy people tend to talk faster than most. the shit is not uncommon out here...

if someone cant understand it, just put on captions.

 Pretty much. And i don't think Cy would've gone at Olivia unless it was just absolutely the LAST thing there was to do. And i think he'd be like you knew i had to do this. Look at the scene where they were digging up shit. Cy didn't want to do it. It's just there as a precaution.

People love. To. Run. Their. Fuckin. Mouths. Seriously. They love to talk about shit (especially sexual) that they're not supposed too. We don't know if he has a close relationship with the guy or not. Who knows.

I'm just going to say. It could happen. People are strange.

I never said that--we are talking about the SHOW, the SHOWS stars are explaining the fast dialogue. Nothing to "win" here, I was talking about the fast speaking on the show and everyone else went all over the place with it, instead of the topic----the SHOW. Anyhow, now we know the reason behind it.

yea i don't get that. the dialogue is one of the best parts of the show. i know people who talk like that lol.

dialouge can be biting and harsh at times which does produce some funny moments.

Olivia is a witch because she somehow has her staff under a spell. They do things for her despite her being lets face it quite a reprehensible person.

well they set that part of it up though by showing how she saved each of them every member is someone she saved from a dire situation so their loyalty is absolute.

i watch it jus cuz its set in the city.

alot of that shit is very realistic. it should make americans sad that national politics is basically 75% theater. some is over the top tho.

black women like it cuz its rare to see a black woman in power on tv. nvm the fact that she's basically a whore for powerful men...and has daddy issues... and is in love with a married white man.

if a black prez had a cute white sidepiece that he fell in love with... lol oh man... the same chicks that watch this would be boycotting the show. in fact everybody would...

I mean didn't they do that to Blair Underwood? I thought he had a show with a white female love interest and that didn't even make it to the mid season?

I watched the first season on Netflix and it was just OK, I don't get the hype. I can't stand the talking a mile a minute, its too over the top and not realistic to me. I know some grimey ass shit happens in DC, but...maybe Im missing something. Im going to watch season 2 this weekend on Netflix. Maybe I missed the "magic" of this show. I got friends/family having viewing parties and Im sitting there like this :hmm:

Well, Im happy for Kerry Washingtons success.

i know wasn't going at you...

but I wanted to just let others on here understand that its a style...

not always a good one.

that many use to show "reality" because supposedly we all speak fast in everyday life and only listen to a few words in every sentence.

and thanks for the Shonda bit...

I think she doesn't get NEARLY enough credit as the ONLY black and female showrunner on TV.

There's actually a fucking Scandal watch party?:hmm:

The show premise started as a strong black female who is a fixer in DC and it became the Fitz/Grant Show guest starring Olivia Pope as the pathetic whore mistress in her own show. Hopefully, this season will be more about Olivia as a person as opposed to her sex life/vagina. I hope we learn more about the associates (save Huck, I guess), last season it was all about the White House Soap Opera Drama and it got old.
