My business is finally up and running. We have some local customers and gotten some small profit online so far but I need more help. My business is a help desk customer service based business. We support any computer problems for a flat $25 rate. Things small and major we support them for this small rate. My target customer are those with little, moderate, and even remote work from home customers. Currently, I have 5 employee's including myself. We take calls 24 hours a day, also take online chat, and we support by email. I have a free advertisment coupon with google that I have not used yet. I'd like to get it right before I redeem it. I have a twitter personally and from time to time I might spam the business webpage.

Do you cater to small businesses as well? Might wanna break out the phone book make some magnets and hit a couple office buildings in the area - also craigslist is great

Well I got the business website up 100% finally. I've been getting a lot of calls and chat invites but its still slow. I just put some ads up on google and facebook. Going to get some magnets for the car next. Small business is a good idea. I just need to figure out how to market that. Most of the local business have internal support and if they don't require some sort of home office permission or for them to set it up.

You need to read a LOT of books on advertising...that way you will form a foundational understanding of what works and what doesn't. It sounds like you are where I was 5 years ago...just marketing a JOB and not an actual BUSINESS. A business i smore than just business cards, a website and a phone number...you have to actually create or utilize a system that will work even when you are not there.

Basically pimp others.

I'm gonna give you the names of the resources I use now...hopefully you will check them out:

Advertising Without An Agency: http://www.amazon.com/dp/1932531289/?tag=vp314-20

Hey Whipple, Squeeze This:http://www.amazon.com/dp/0470190736/?tag=vp314-20

Advertising For Dummies: http://www.amazon.com/dp/0470045833/?tag=vp314-20

The Wizard of Ads: http://www.amazon.com/dp/1885167296/?tag=vp314-20

Don't be afraid to open your mind up to new opportunities. If you really want a successful business, you're gonna have to put in some serious WORK, not the play-play stuff. I've finished one book already, half of another one and only the beginning of the Dummies book, but I now realize that I can advertise on radio, billboard and in print for less than I thought. Gotta spend money to make money.

Final tip: look up the ISBN numbers of these books (you can get them on Amazon) and find them at your local library instead of buying them. I did!
