I did not know E-40 was like this back in the day

What?!

Rob Base thought he was big time back then?
Yep, and at the time, he was. However, he screamed the "I'm from New Yawk!" shit during soundcheck after he said something slick, and him and his crew caught the paws. He had this big dude named Omar that sang on his records, and it was him that calmed things down.

I agree with this list, except for Ice T. Trust me, you didn't want no parts of that dude. Eazy E was a real street dude, and so was Hammer, Just Ice, E-40, Clay D, Rakim, and K Solo. The Wu were all about that life, but for the most part, you're right. MC Shy D was like Jackie Wilson. He was quick to put paws on a dude. I actually had to calm him down. I was like, "Dude, you're making records now. You can be sued now!"

I can co sign ALL those names...

Interesting how dudes like Just Ice legends

Real gangsters.

Get forgotten

When the same hip hop culture idolizes white so called gangsters

And now snitching is accepted

Sidebar...

As an artist and a fan...

How do you feel about the idea that rappers unlike any other genre of music have to LIVE their lyrics?

Damn that hoe deserve a pension

That’s what I meant. Many of the rappers were all fake, but they brought in the gangsters, and the fake world they spoke about became real.
Ice cube - private school kid
Ice t - dancer
Puff - dancer
Tupac - performing arts kid
Dr Dre - disco music dude

Once the fake became real, it got real to a ridiculous level, where it became nonsensical
I could just tell you the first two grew up around crips and was cool with them..they grew up on the block despite private school and dancing..I wouldn't call them fake..would you call Nas fake???

40 Water had a very white Christmas that year

Damn you never know who you're fucking with until it's too late.
Yep. This big cac promoter didn't know who he was fucking with, until Rakim slapped him up. Ra is small in stature, but had hands like lightning. I swear, Ra slapped this dude about 4 times within 10 seconds. White dude was looking like :eek2: There's a style of fighting called jail housing, which was taught to me at a young age, and that's what Ra did to him. My uncle in the Boogie Down taught it to me. He said it was created on Riker's Island. Snoop made that song with Dre, thinking Luke was just about partying and sex, until he went to Miami, and the Ghetto Style DJs laid hands on him.

In those days you actually had to be from the street or street adjacent to do shit round here in the bay.

Honestly a lot of the new dudes are still the same way
They never take rap super serious and still hustle and end up knocked

please tell him, that as a DJ I never saw an empty dancefloor when his records played.
my hiphop generation loved his uptempo joints, especially gotta be tough and we dont play.
It was crazy, because when we had our rap crew in high school, we were influenced by Cold Crush, Fearless 4, and others. So, when I heard rapping fast at a jam, I was like . He had the DJ speed up the bonus beats on "Planet Rock" and started going off. Shit had me confused as hell.

I respect your knowledge.

Big bro, tell us more about that fighting style.

We simply called it the 52
Not many know about that lol

At least all these niggas grew up in the hood. Does it matter that they werent all super goons? Or am I wrong about where they came up?

It's kinda hard to explain. It's something you have to see in person. It involves slapping your elbows and bouncing around to keep your opponent confused. Once you get them focusing on you slapping your elbows, you start slapping them from different locations. If they swing at you, you redirect their swing, and that also opens them up to be slapped again. It's crazy as shit. The shoulder roll was also invented in prison. A lot of fights took place in confined spaces, so they figured out a way to get hit less. There's also a form a martial arts that was created in the bing called "the black man's art". As a youth in the 70s, I saw a dude get FUCKED UP by that shit on a basketball court.

All that organized heat, and now that area has literally no Black people. We go so hard on each other, but won't do SHIT to those with real power.

I'm too old for this , pop the trunk bullshit. Take out a cop, put a judge on the bench, hell stop foreigners from gentrifying "your city"

If not, stop the bad man act and make good party music.

i think if u talk about any rapper n then go to their city its gonna b problems....

maybe not so much to today wit these skinny jeans wearin fags but back in the day that was suicide....

The recent $nitch 9ine sagas were layered with beefs and subsequent city BANS for talking reckless. Rick Ross not too long was under punishment with some Chicago folks.
