I beat Diabetes! My A1C was 10.1 and now down to 5.3

How have your numbers been. It’s a dude that swears by your kind of diet and his numbers are great after being terrible for years
Outstanding brother. My fasting glucose went to 86 from 110. The A1C dropped to 5.9 from 6.1. I am very meticulous about what I eat though. I thought honey was cool because it was natural, I was wrong. Turns out it has vitamins, sure, however its basically sugar in liquid form. I get tested again in December. I'll post my numbers if you like. I stopped the honey.

Let's be real for a sec. An average candy bar has about 17 grams of sugar. 1 teaspoon of sugar is 4 grams. That one candy bar has 4 teaspoons of sugar. I started looking at labels. If I cannot pronounce the ingredients I don't buy it. Ingredients are listed in the largest amount in order. Most will have so many fillers that its not even real anymore. I was mortified to find out "even though I make my own". That almond milk is only about 3% almonds. Maybe 7 almonds per glass. Its a lot of work but I make everything, milk, yogurt, nut butters, salad dressing. Nothing store bought. I only drink water. I have no desire for any other liquid. Not even every now and then.

I also had to accept that I had an addiction to salt and sugar. I learned to deal with the food addictions and retrain my mind. It took a few years but I did it. Cravings are nothing more than an out of sync Microbiome. The good bacteria needs to be feed with proper nutrients. If you give it garbage, it wants garbage. Feed it whole foods and don't eat a lot of sugar and salt and your body will go though withdrawals at first but then accept that you are in charge not it.

I don't push eating whole foods on folks anymore. I think we have been conditioned to feel that carbs are monsters. For me not so. The body needs carbs. " Its the type of carbs you ingest that matter" not carbs in general. Oat groats are my morning go to as an example every morning.

Put blinders on to people who mock you. We are all going to die why speed up the process by eating garbage? I have eaten just about everything that I have ever wanted to eat. No food, no pressure from outside sources will ever deter my movement of not putting garbage into my body. I realize that that's why some of my homeboys are taking so many medications.

I experimented on myself for years to find a perfect lifestyle of eating to suit my body. The amazing thing is that I promise you, if you stick to what your doing your body will not only adjust, but will " THRIVE"

I be trying to tell my boys, bra, your joint would prob work aight if you pulled yourself away from foods that clog your arteries and slow down blood flow. Loose weight, exercise and eat better. More than likely after transitioning over to a healthier lifestyle you probably won't not need Cialis. I eat to live now. No meds except for gummies for chronic pain. This coming from a man who was on Fentanyl Oxycodone, Oxycontin, muscle relaxers and nerve pills all at once. The food I was eating was causing an incredible amount of inflammation which worsened my pain.

Changing my diet has saved my life and given me a new perspective on life. Keep moving forward.

Be well.

Ya know, you muthafuckas really disappoint me. In here hi-fivin' and huggin' a well know scumbag. Props ta @keone , a real nigga who understands the importance of keeping the pressure on large type junkie asshole such as Brown Dookie Turd.

Real life shit>>>> internet beef bullshit.

I will add Bitter Melon as a supplement to reduce blood sugar...

Do your research of course, but it's shown to help in that area.

Turd of browness you never said how long your journey took to reach a successful outcome. ?
I went from a A1C of 10.1 to 6.4 in about 3 months. Then it took me another 4 months to get to a 5.3. It is safe to say it took me 6 months. What i noticed is that around 15% weight loss, everything changed quickly.

I started at about 285 lbs. When I got near 250ish/245ish my blood sugars became very stable, Almost over night. My fasting glucose dropped to about 85 and 2 hours after meals, my glucose readings where 105ish.

My weight just exploded recently when my job that is physically demanding cut back hours. Clothes are tight, been on a calorie restricted diet but I sleep all day.

My metabolism is slowing down due to age.

im crying mufuka could star in free willy

apply pressure
Just got a letter from the Commissioner's office AKA an inbox from H.N.I.C. The nigga cried to him again saying that Jackson is making me cry. Why can't I be an annoying lyin' scumbag on here in peace? Some of the most unbelievable and weakest shit your ever gon see in your life Keone. :smh: It's like getting fined for hittin the QB too hard on Wednesday. :fuckyousay:

he a turd shit that comes out of ass
yall better respect @jack walsh13
LOL

I fucked up with my diet. I was eating 15 piece wings with a 32oz orange soda. Then would snack on some ruffles sour cream and onions chips. About the only vegetable I ate was the lettuce on my burger.

Every meal I had a soda. My doctor fucked around and gave me two blood pressure medications that kept my blood pressure around 135/95 so I was like bet, I aint having no stroke anytime soon and thought I had a pass. I was not thinking about blood sugars.

I was hard headed and would not come to get labs or blood work. My doctor finally said she was not going to renew my blood pressure medicine. unless I came in. I thought she was tripping because I never get colds, I was an active fat nigga. Got covid twice with zero symptom's. and in my mind I felt great.

Went in and got the labs. Got the call from the doctor for me to head to the ER and she would give instructions later. I was like ER? She was like yes, you need to go now if you want to live! I get to the ER and I am on BGOL, walking around with not a care in the world.

ER doc came in and set the record straight. He was like you are to young to be in this condition and it can be life threatening.

Good information.

That's fucking amazing, fam.
When the ER doctor explained to me all that was wrong. Hit hit me like a sledge hammer. When my wife and kids got to the ER, I broke down and cried because the only thing I could say was "I am sorry"

That was the first time in my life I felt that I had let my wife and kids down. Thinking that they could be without a husband and father because of the choices I made hurt me to my core.

When I started reading about type 2 diabetes and how sugars impact the body. It was the first time I was able to visualize what I ate and how it affected me. That scared me and has kept me straight sense

Lol If you stick to the plan you will. Trust me. Feed the good bacteria and it will only want quality food.

HEART HEALTH

Diet, disease, and the microbiome

There is growing interest in the human body’s microbiome and its connection to chronic disease. A new study examines that connection, along with how the foods we eat influence the composition of our microbiome.

Microbiome protects host and plays role in disease risk

The microbiome consists of the genes of tiny organisms (bacteria, viruses, and other microbes) found in the gastrointestinal tract, primarily in the small and large intestine. The normal gut flora — another term for the microbiome — protects its human host. For the microbiome to flourish, the right balance must exist, with the healthy species dominating the less healthy.

Scientists do not fully understand how the microbiome factors into the risk of developing chronic diseases, such as heart disease, obesity, and type 2 diabetes. Many factors, including differences between individuals and individual diets, have made this a difficult area to investigate.

Study investigates relationships between diet, microbiome, and disease risk

But a new study, published in Nature Medicine, accounts for these factors and sheds light on how our diets shape our microbiome and how our microbiome, in turn, influences our disease risk.

The researchers studied more than 1,100 individuals enrolled in PREDICT 1, a large trial looking at individual responses to food. They used a technique called metagenomic sequencing to identify, classify, measure, and analyze genetic material from the study participants’ microbiomes.

They also collected detailed, long-term dietary intake information from all of these individuals, so they could analyze their dietary patterns, including their intake of different food groups, foods, and nutrients. In addition, they collected information from the study participants on a variety of factors that are known to influence metabolism and disease risk, including pre- and post-meal measures of blood sugar (glucose), cholesterol, and inflammation. Finally, they measured personal health attributes of the study participants, including age, weight, body mass index (BMI), body fat, and blood pressure.

Diet influences microbiome and microbiome influences disease risk

The study found that the health of the microbiome is influenced by diet, and that the composition of the microbiome influences the risk of health outcomes. The results showed that specific gut microbes were associated with specific nutrients, foods, food groups, and overall diet composition. Health conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and general inflammation appeared to be most impacted by diet-influenced changes to the microbiome.

For example, less healthy dietary patterns (dairy desserts, unhealthy meats, processed foods) supported gut species that were associated with measures of blood sugar, cholesterol, and inflammation that are significantly associated with higher risk of cardiac events, strokes, and type 2 diabetes.

In contrast, a more diverse gut microbiome was tied to healthy dietary patterns (high-fiber vegetables like spinach and broccoli, nuts, and, heathy animal foods such as fish and eggs) and was linked to measurements tied to lower risk of certain chronic diseases. In addition, the study found that polyunsaturated fats (found in fish, walnuts, pumpkin, flax and chia seeds, sunflower, safflower, and unhydrogenated soybean oils) produce healthy gut species linked to a reduced risk of chronic disease.

Minimally processed, plant-based diet is good for the microbiome and for reducing disease risk

So what do these findings mean for us? First, the study showed that eating more unprocessed plant foods — fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and whole grains — allows the gut microbiome to thrive. Some animal foods, such as fish and eggs, are also favorable. Avoiding certain animal foods, such as red meat and bacon, dairy foods, and highly processed foods (even processed plant foods such as sauces, baked beans, juices, or sugar-sweetened drinks and desserts) prevents less-healthy gut species from colonizing the gut.

It is important to note that food quality matters; processed or ultra-processed plant-based foods were not associated with heathy clusters of gut microbes. When choosing foods, consider whether they are processed or unprocessed, in addition to whether they are a plant or animal food.

It can also be helpful to think in terms of dietary patterns, rather than individual foods or food groups. Meal patterns that emphasize foods beneficial to the microbiome are the whole-food, plant-based dietary patterns. These include vegan (no animal products) and ovo-vegetarian (vegetarian plus eggs) diets. The pescatarian eating pattern, in which oily and white fish are the meats of choice, is also good for the microbiome.

Emphasizing minimally processed plant foods allows the gut microbiome to thrive, providing protection against, or decreasing the risk of, chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, metabolic disease, and obesity.

You really believe this muthafucka God? This is nothing more than a sympathy thread for friendship. If anyone in this world would do something like this it's this Joker. It's Ben Simmons all over again. No mental health issues don't fall for it bruh.

This thread isn't about the OP. It's about a lethal killer running wild in the Black community for decades. Diabetes took out my grandmother. Many of my family members are afflicted with diabetes to this day. A few having already died. When I first joined BGOL I was in my late twenties. Now I'm fifty two and very much concerned about my community and our health. So whether the OP is bullshitting or not is not nearly as important to me as folks being inspired to get healthy.

All facts Lexx. But two things can be true at the same time right?

I don’t have a problem with you having fun and shit talking on BGOL. That is fair game. When it comes to serious threads such as health, politics, and cultural post, we should not beef in them.

Diabetes is a serious issue along with heart disease in our community. So these are not the post to beef in.

I just my physical results back and it was said my A1C was 6.1 and that's prediabetic stage, I'm 6'2 215, workout 5 days a week,I funny drink or smoke but diabetes runs in my family. I saw a list of foods that raise your blood sugar and it was all the things I've been eating that I thought I was eating to keep from eating bad.
Sports drinks
energy/protein bars
Low-fat yogurt
Fruit juice
White rice
Potatoes

I don’t think I could go without meat. I definitely eat more vegetables now but how do y’all do it? You never crave a nice rib or chicken sandwich?

Congrats my BOi! Thats good. Its not easy, but over time (7 years) I stopped viewing ALL animals as food. Not to sound gross or anything but I view a Rib or Chicken sandwich the same way as most Americans view a dead possum, squirrel, or cat on the side of the road. Having Zero interest in putting it in my body. Citizens nowdays just accept what their culture told them is acceptable. But always being a Bawse, and my own man, I simply make my own choices based on MY own beliefs no matter what the crowd does. Only regret is i didnt modify my diet earlier. Im the healthiest Ive ever been in my life.... literally 54yrs old and still walking around at my high school weight, just more matured muscle.
