I beat Diabetes! My A1C was 10.1 and now down to 5.3

Bread and rice use to spike my blood sugars like crazy. For those reading that are none diabetic and trying to follow along. After you eat, your sugar levels should be less than 140 after 1 to 2 hours. Mine use to be over 250.

To slow down the absorption of carbs and glucose, I paired it with protein and fiber. If I ate bread or rice, I made sure to eat some broccoli first and my blood sugar levels would only spike to 112. About 15 points

What kind of rice was you eating? I’m noticing this matters a lot.
 
My typical diet that I eat for those that asked

Grabbed a rotisserie chicken from Samclub and cut the meat off it.

I would usually get a high fiber 4 net carb tortillas and make quesadillas with the rotisserie chicken and pair it with a veggie

My go to snack was popcorn as it did nothing to my blood sugar

Ate a ton of salads

Broccoli & cheese - I would take steamed Broccoli florets season them and individually smash them. Place some ham or bacon on top, add some cheese (mozzarella) and baked in the oven until the cheese browns

Lots of baked chicken and fish

Hamburger wrap with lettuce and tomato

Different kinds of homemade vegetables soups

A lot is strawberries. They did spike my blood sugars so I paired it with protein to prevent the spikes

I had to stop eating mango. They spiked just as high as drinking a coke:smh:

Zero Sugar sodas hurt my stomach so they were a no go. I had to settle on the zero sugar water flavored packs.

Drunk endless amounts of water

Lots of cabbage, collard greens, butter beans and green beans

That’s a high fiber diet. That’s usually what my diet consist of.
 
What kind of rice was you eating? I’m noticing this matters a lot.
Any rice, brown, yellow or white will spike blood sugars. If I ate rice it was white rice but I made sure I ate something like broccoli first, a meat then the rice last to minimize the spike. I also would keep it to no more than a cup

16:8 Intermittent Fasting has been one of the most beneficial things I’ve done for my health.

Yup IF definitely helped me too. I will also add doing smoothies helped tremendously......I usually will fast until anytime between 1pm - 3pm and make my last meal around 7 or 730....First meal being a smoothie with mostly berries (low glycemic level) and some other stuff like flax seed, green powder food, beet powder, and plant based protein powder....Add fasted cardio in the morning and you will just drop weight.....Gallon of water too...

Oatmeal was a no go. It spike blood sugars very high. For me it was like 41 pts. So I could not fuck with oatmeal.

I really never ate much sweets so my sugar issues came from excessive amounts of carbohydrates and being overweight caused insulin resistance for me.

The only reason I have him on ignore is because of the pictures. I take him off if I am in just a regular thread.

This thread is good and pertinent information. A few years back I started a thread encouraging folks to take walks. Quite a few other members have made health related threads over the years as well. Resulting in all these threads with treasure troves of information for members provided by members.
