It may be a tropical storm now but once it gets in that warm open water near the Gulf, its gonna strengthen real quick to at least a category 3. One should never underestimate mother nature. That mistake cost the lives of countless people in NO 3 years ago.For What?
Unless Gustav is a 3 or higher, I'm not evacuating. I gassed up all of the cars and set a few of my wimpy family members to my grandparents in Prairieville and the rest with my parrain in Lafayette.
I dont feel like taking any more drives. I took 600 mile drives constantly when I was displaced and they wore me the fuck out. I survived Katrina in a 60 year old house in the 9th ward. TROPICAL STORM Gustav does not scare me, the worst that could happen is the May 1995 flood.
Me I'll enjoy the quiet.
The rest of yall be blessed.
Not to pick at you but how is this funny?
how do you get this bigger.

Real talk to all the N.O. folks:
Please get out! I know that is easier said than done and evacuating takes a lot, but consider it very strongly. They're already saying that Gustav is going to gain strength in the Gulf and probably become a Category 5 Hurricane, but will probably lose a little strength and hit land as a Category 4. From the projected path Gustav looks like it's heading straight for New Orleans. I know Katrina turned and didn't hit New Orleans directly, but it still did a lot of destruction doing that. I know Gustav can turn and miss but don't wait too long to find out. The weather channel says that Gustav is already packing winds of 150mph
I remember back in 1998 when a Tornado hit downtown Nashville. I live about 7 miles away from downtown and that was the scariest shit! The clouds were so dark it was like night time. The hail did $4,000 worth of damage to my car and flash flooding was everywhere. It only lasted for about 20 minutes(of severe storming) but it seemed like hours. I can't imagine what a Hurricane is like!
Yup better leave now b/c remember what Kanye West said...
GEORGE BUSH DOES NOT LIKE BLACK PEOPLE !

Where are you headed? To Texas or Georgia?Originally posted by Mask
shit i bounced yesterday evening, bout 7pm. there wasn't any traffic i was very surprised, saw some cars with Louisiana plates but not many....
I know. The Gulf is like a giant amplifier for storms. Gustav has 150mph winds as a Category 4 (Category 5 starts at 155mph), if it gets to Category 5 you're talking about 155-175mph sustained winds with gusts of over 200mph!all this within an day or two, from a 1 to a 5, and it's not in the gulf yet, that's sick, the gulf is known for intensifying storms...

Katrina started as a Category 1 but when it hit the Gulf it strengthened very quickly and became one of the most powerful Hurricanes while it was out at sea. Good thing it lost strength and hit land as a Category 3.
Hurricane Rita was actually more powerful than Katrina. Rita was a Category 2 before it hit the Gulf. Once again powered up by the Gulf it became a Category 5. It has gone on record as being the most powerful Hurricane recorded with sustained winds of 180mph and gusts of over 235mph! Once again, luckily, Rita hit as a category 3.
Texas don't seem to safe
I see that now on the map. If it is a Cat 4 or 5, Texas is going to get blasted too. CNN already said gas stations in N.O., Baton Rouge and others along the way are running out because everyone is gassing up and leaving.Originally posted by Mask
