how do you get this bigger.

dont plan on goin n e where unless its a 3 im gassed up but will stay, i dont think that shit is comin here either

For What?
Unless Gustav is a 3 or higher, I'm not evacuating. I gassed up all of the cars and set a few of my wimpy family members to my grandparents in Prairieville and the rest with my parrain in Lafayette.
I dont feel like taking any more drives. I took 600 mile drives constantly when I was displaced and they wore me the fuck out. I survived Katrina in a 60 year old house in the 9th ward. TROPICAL STORM Gustav does not scare me, the worst that could happen is the May 1995 flood.

Me I'll enjoy the quiet.
The rest of yall be blessed.
It may be a tropical storm now but once it gets in that warm open water near the Gulf, its gonna strengthen real quick to at least a category 3. One should never underestimate mother nature. That mistake cost the lives of countless people in NO 3 years ago. :smh::smh::smh:

The fucked up part of this whole storm is it's still a few days away but you can guarantee someone's going to die just because they didn't take the proper precautions. :smh::smh::(:(:(:smh::smh:

Real talk to all the N.O. folks:
Please get out! I know that is easier said than done and evacuating takes a lot, but consider it very strongly. They're already saying that Gustav is going to gain strength in the Gulf and probably become a Category 5 Hurricane, but will probably lose a little strength and hit land as a Category 4. From the projected path Gustav looks like it's heading straight for New Orleans. I know Katrina turned and didn't hit New Orleans directly, but it still did a lot of destruction doing that. I know Gustav can turn and miss but don't wait too long to find out. The weather channel says that Gustav is already packing winds of 150mph

I remember back in 1998 when a Tornado hit downtown Nashville. I live about 7 miles away from downtown and that was the scariest shit! The clouds were so dark it was like night time. The hail did $4,000 worth of damage to my car and flash flooding was everywhere. It only lasted for about 20 minutes(of severe storming) but it seemed like hours. I can't imagine what a Hurricane is like!

shit i bounced yesterday evening, bout 7pm. there wasn't any traffic i was very surprised, saw some cars with Louisiana plates but not many....

all this within an day or two, from a 1 to a 5, and it's not in the gulf yet, that's sick, the gulf is known for intensifying storms....

Yup better leave now b/c remember what Kanye West said...

Where are you headed? To Texas or Georgia?

I know. The Gulf is like a giant amplifier for storms. Gustav has 150mph winds as a Category 4 (Category 5 starts at 155mph), if it gets to Category 5 you're talking about 155-175mph sustained winds with gusts of over 200mph!

Katrina started as a Category 1 but when it hit the Gulf it strengthened very quickly and became one of the most powerful Hurricanes while it was out at sea. Good thing it lost strength and hit land as a Category 3.

Hurricane Rita was actually more powerful than Katrina. Rita was a Category 2 before it hit the Gulf. Once again powered up by the Gulf it became a Category 5. It has gone on record as being the most powerful Hurricane recorded with sustained winds of 180mph and gusts of over 235mph! Once again, luckily, Rita hit as a category 3.

The news is reporting alot of buses on the way to Memphis. I remember last time alot of NO cats were up here. They do get wild. I have a good friend whose sister died last time in a school during Katrina.

Just called her and her peoplez are on the way up now. Clubs in Memphis will prolly be packed this weekend. Level 2 and Senses fa sho.

Blessings to everyone and their family tryna get out.

In all seriousness this storm could end up being stronger than Katrina. If youre on the gulf or close to it in that area it would be a wise decision to evacuate. Especially considering that area has already been flooded over the past couple of weeks.

:smh:

I'm hearing that it could be a category 5 by landfall....

I think I'm going to go to church tomorrow....

I see that now on the map. If it is a Cat 4 or 5, Texas is going to get blasted too. CNN already said gas stations in N.O., Baton Rouge and others along the way are running out because everyone is gassing up and leaving.

I know we bullshit a lot on BGOL, but truthfully for everyone down in the Gulf area, I hope this turns out for the better. Like it diverts its path or rapidly loses strength for some reason or other.

Damn looks like the Saints might be having a lot "away" games again:(

Gustav's getting stronger. Just pounded Cuba

Gustav slams Cuba as Cat 4 storm; many evacuated

By WILL WEISSERT, Associated Press Writer 9 minutes ago

Gustav howled into Cuba's Isla de Juventud as a monstrous Category 4 hurricane on Saturday while both Cubans and Americans scrambled to flee the path of the fast-growing storm.

Forecasters said it was just short of becoming a top-scale Category 5 hurricane as it powered its way toward the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday, before weakening a little ahead of a likely collision as early as Monday with the U.S. coast.

More than 240,000 Cubans were being evacuated — some hurriedly — as the storm bore down on the nation's tobacco-rich western tip. Across the Gulf of Mexico, more than a million Americans wary by Hurricane Katrina streamed out of New Orleans and other coastal cities.

Gustav already has killed 81 people by triggering floods and landslides in other Caribbean nations.

Lights flickered in Cuba's capital as shrieking winds blasted sheets of rain sideways though the streets and whipped angry waves against the famed seaside Malecon boulevard. State television stations went dark several times.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center said Gustav had sustained winds of 150 mph (240 kph) — with higher gusts — as the heart of the storm began hitting Cuba's outlying island province of Isla de Juventud, where officials cut power to many areas. A Category 5 hurricane has winds above 155 mph (249 kph).

"The rain is not so intense, but there is a lot, a lot of wind," said Isabel Alarcon from Nueva Gerona, the largest city on the island of 87,000 people. "The officials, they have told us the wind will be bad first but then the rain could cause flooding into the night."

The government's AIN news agency said officials were evacuating some 190,000 people from low-lying parts of westernmost Cuba, Pinar del Rio province, where the tobacco for Cuba's famed cigars is grown. AIN reported that 50,000 already had been evacuated farther east.

Cuba halted all buses and trains to and from Havana where some shuttered stores had hand-scrawled "closed for evacuation" signs plastered to their doors. At those still open, residents formed lines to stock up on bread. Authorities boarded up banks, restaurants and hotels and cars waiting to fill their tanks stretched from gas stations.

"It's very big and we've got to get ready for what's coming," said Jesus Hernandez, a 60-year-old retiree who was using an electric drill to reinforce the roof of his rickety front porch.
By Saturday afternoon, Gustav was about 80 miles (135 kilometers) south-southwest of Havana and it was moving northwest near 15 mph (24 kph).

Hurricane force winds extended out 70 miles (110 kilometers) in some places.

The U.S. naval base at Guantanamo, Cuba, was hundreds of miles (kilometers) to the east, out of the storm's path.
Gustav rolled over the Cayman Islands Friday with fierce winds that tore down trees and power lines while destroying docks and tossing boats ashore, but there was little major damage and no deaths were reported.

Haiti's Interior Ministry on Saturday raised the hurricane death toll there to 66 from 59 and Jamaica raised its count to seven from four. Gustav also killed eight people in the Dominican Republic early in the week.

Gustav was projected to hit the U.S. Gulf coast roughly around Louisiana on Monday, though forecasters cautioned that the track could vary.

People poured out of New Orleans along highways Saturday and the government announced plans for broader evacuations.
Meanwhile, the hurricane center said Tropical Storm Hanna was projected to near the Turks and Caicos Islands late Sunday or on Monday, then curl through the Bahamas by early next week before possibly threatening Cuba.

As it spun over open waters, Hanna had sustained winds near 50 mph (85 kph) late Saturday afternoon and the hurricane center warned that it could kick up dangerous rip currents along parts of the southeastern U.S. coast.
