How Many Of Fam On Here Have Diabetes

If I was a betting man, I would say about 90% or more. Black people still are uneducated when it comes to eating right:smh: news flash everyone suppose to eat as if they have diabetes.

I just found out i have type 2 about a month ago.
now im takin insulin shots twice a day..i already had a decent diet with the exception of a few things.
ive been opting for raw veg instead of cooked..there are alot of sugar free options out there.
with the little i know so far, i think the most important thing is to pinpoint what your guilty pleasures are and find the more healthy alternative.

if you just try to deprive yourself..most people are okay for a while, then they end up on a junk food bender.
so find what you like..but take the diet/sugar free alternative

Yesterday, a co-worker from a different dept. passed away while on job. They said he was Diabetic.
Dude was only 55.

Type 2 And This Shit Is Crazy Damn.

I just had a complete physical and it states I'm in great health, but sometime I wonder if I'm a candidate for diabetes, because of certain things my body does.

What are the symptoms?

i thought you only do insulin shots if you type 1? but maybe not, it runs in my fam also

It doesn't run in my family, but after my dad had surgery for his heart attack, he found out that he's diabetic now. so, that's making me be on the lookout.

type 2 runs in my family as they reach the elder years.

before that, it's alcoholism, gunshots, stabbings and high blood pressure that kills my kinfolk.

i've been on hypertension meds since the age of 31. mom has to get shots to control hers and she's 5 ft tall, 107 lbs with low bodyfat.

if it's in your genetic makeup, just get ready to deal with it.

ok I'm thirsty all the time, but let my parents tell it, that's always been me, I pee alot because I drink a lot of fluids, I'm tired because I work 60 hours a week, so I can justify most of these. I'm drinking water, juice, or soda pretty much all the time.

But what scares me is I can get really shaky, nervous like, almost like I'm about to pass out and can drink a glass of orange juice and I'm fine. This has happened to me a couple of times, and the doctor says I'm not diabetic.

And yes it does run in my family. My Grandmother had it and use to take the insulin shot.

i know diabetes can be hereditary but do u guys think if u had better eating habbits, that could of prevented u from getting it?

my dad has it. but he lives his life as normal. no shots, no medicine, no anything.

he takes his usual vitamins, and eats his usual vegy meals, and whenever he feels tired he goes to sleep...

my dad doesn't really trust medicine like that...he seems to be alright

HEY COCO, THE SHAKING AND NERVOUS PART YOU WAS MENTIONING IS JUST THE EXACT THING MY MOTHER DESCRIBE, AND THE ALWAYS THIRSTY

thanks. I googled it to look at the symptoms and most of these describe me.

^^No probs.

Definitely go see a Dr to get yourself checked out.

Diabetes isd no joke but people can still lead normal, fulfilled lives as long as they change their eating habits, excercise more and just generally take care of themselves.

I used to get that about 3 times a week (terrible feeling) until I started balancing out my ph-levels...I seem to have it under control, still happens every now and then.

i found out right after new years day. right before christmas i went to a christmas party, and got really drunk drinking hennessey. for the next few days i felt really bad, real tired and light headed. then on new years eve i had a few drinks and started feeling bad. my wife was already a diabetic, and i did a sugar test, and it read 304. went to the dr and he gave me the bad news. i take metformin for it and a cinnamon supplement. i changed my diet, stopped drinkning brown liqour, cut back on beer and at my last checkup my a1c went from 9.9 to 7.6. lately i've fallen off, but i getting back track.

shit mine was in the 400's
but now my shit be getting real low making my head feel light and shaky
Try 900. I was damn near in a coma when I went to the hospital. Layed up in ICU for over 2 weeks with gunshot victims and shit. Diabeetus ain't no joke. Brother bounced back though
