How has the Coronavirus impacted you directly, to this point?

I posted this in another thread...

I contracted the virus back in January and was ill for two weeks. I'm not sure how I got it because I took all of the necessary precautions but it kicked my ass. My wife and son didn't test positive. I had the antibodies, but was told to get the shots after 90 days.

They tested for antibodies a week after I was cleared by my Dr to go back to work. My symptoms also went from minor to severe (~9 rough days, pain and little sleep). I haven't had any symptoms since and no problems with the shot I got this morning (in April). I'm 61 and have diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol, which puts me in the high risk category for serious complications, but no issues have arisen, thank goodness...

A nurse lost both her unvaccinated parents to Covid. She still won't get the shot.
Shanda Parish’s last communication with her father was a voice mail he sent from the hospital, moaning and gasping for breath. “It doesn’t even sound human,” she said. “I don’t like hearing it, but I can’t delete it.”

AEG Presents, the second-largest concert promoter in the U.S., will require proof of COVID-19 vaccination for events at its venues beginning in October. The announcement comes as one of the most sweeping vaccination policies for live events during the COVID-19 pandemic since they returned. According to a press release, AEG venues will require either proof of vaccination, or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the event, for all events between now and October 1 to give attendees time to get vaccinated. By October 1, the venues will only accept proof of vaccination. According to a FAQ page on the new policy, AEG will allow exceptions for attendees who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons and children under 12, who are not currently approved for the COVID-19 vaccine. (The policy will not apply in states that have banned vaccine mandates.) “As a market leader, it was up to us to take a real stand on vaccination status,” said Jay Marciano, CEO and chairman of AEG Presents. The moves contrasts with Live Nation, the country’s largest concert promoter, which recently announced it will leave the choice to performers to require proof of vaccination at their shows. Marciano cited rising cases due to the Delta variant as a major factor in AEG’s move. “We realize that some people might look at this as a dramatic step, but it’s the right one,” he continued. “We also are aware that there might be some initial pushback, but I’m confident and hopeful that, at the end of the day, we will be on the right side of history and doing what’s best for artists, fans, and live event workers.”

Venues that work with AEG Presents include Webster Hall and Brooklyn Steel in New York City and the Roxy in Los Angeles. In addition, the promoter puts on festivals including Coachella, Firefly, Day N Vegas, and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, the latter of which was recently canceled for 2021 due to the current COVID-19 wave. Marciano cited the Jazz Fest cancellation in his statement. “I think everyone can agree that we don’t want concerts to go away again,” he said, “and this is the best way to keep that from happening.”

people should have the freedom to take the risk. its their choice. if you have a good immune system or young, there really is no need to trip. I don't like the enforcing of it to go to places and businesses as if you need to have my shit inside of you in order to participate in society. not cool at all.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s recent ruling suggests that athletes and other students who challenge vaccine requirements would likely fail.

Eight students from Indiana University insist a vaccine requirement violates their 14th Amendment due process rights and infringes on their ability to make medical decisions. Justice Barrett's denial of college students' challenge to mandatory COVID vaccination will impact college athletes.

Drake was one of the millions of people who contracted COVID-19 in the last year — and he's still dealing with some lingering side effects.
The rapper, 34, revealed that he had the virus and it led to hair loss, which is finally improving now.

Drake shared the news on a fan's Instagram post, where they had made fun of his hairline.

"That heart is stressed ," the fan wrote, referring to a small heart that Drake has shaved into the top left of his head.
"I had COVID that s--- grew in weird I had to start again ," the "Hotline Bling" singer responded.

"It's coming back don't diss," he added.

Temporary hair loss is a fairly common side effect of COVID-19, and a recent pre-print study from Indiana University found that around 33% of patients they surveyed noticed it as a symptom. Hair loss frequently happens due to stress, an effect called telogen effluvium, and severe illnesses like COVID-19 can stress out the body.

Actress Alyssa Milano has spoken openly about the "extreme hair loss" she's dealt with in the months since contracting COVID-19, along with "brain fog."

"It's hard, especially when you're an actor and so much of your identity is wrapped up in those things, like having long silky hair and clean skin," she said in October. "Along with that also, I have the brain fog. Which, again, as an actress, as someone who has to memorize dialogue and be able to emote, and respond, and be on my toes, it's frightening."

Well I am running into more stupid people who thinks horse medicine is a cure for Covid :smh:

You know what they say: If you can’t take the guff, don’t bluff with the Duff. So Delta variant, you’re officially on notice. On Friday, Hilary Duff announced that she has tested positive for a breakthrough case of coronavirus. On her Instagram Stories, Duff posted a selfie from bed with the caption, “That delta … she’s a little bitch. symptoms: bad headache. No taste or smell. sinus pressure. Brain fog. Happy to be vaxxed,” followed by a peace-sign emoji. She made a follow-up post to her Stories today, asking her followers, “Should I do a makeup tutorial today?” with the poll options “DO IT GIRL” or “HECK NO SICK FACE,” so the Younger star is in good spirits.

If the Delta variant messes with Hilary Duff … it gets the horns. ✌ Photo: Hilary Duff/Instagram
This post came just three days after Duff posted a picture from the set of How I Met Your Father, posing with her castmates for the upcoming Hulu series.

My wife's cousin was just intubated. He's 23.

Don't be a fucking fool.
He didn’t make it.

Niggas are really out here in the club/restaurant/party etc rolling the dice when there’s a free solution to keep your dumb ass out of the morgue.

You are right in the past few months I only went to Chili’s restaurant and sit down and eat because it was no one in there. I tried to go to a Carrabbas two weeks ago but it was so crowded when I look through the window I turned around and went back home.
