Like it's impossible that he would have actually killed himself.
I don't know about the facility that he was in but your typical isolation cell looks a lot like this.
This one looks a lot like the Mental Ward at the VA Hospital here in Milwaukee.
Most rooms are doubles though. There is bedding provided but there is NOTHING for one to tie a sheet to in order to suspend their body weight by their necks. There are flimsy curtain rods at the shower doors that couldn't hold up a bag of sugar or flour and the shower curtains are VERY lightweight material and just opaque enough for a tad bit of privacy.
I did some light maintenance to rooms in that ward...plunging/snaking toilets, painting. or ensuring fixtures were not loose or had fasteners that could be removed, etc. When in there, your tools, paints, or carts had to be within arms reach and in your eyesight at all times to prevent someone from drinking paint or chemicals or swiping a screwdriver or something.
The doors are solid in these facilities, not bars, and there are sensors on them too that will be set off from anything unusual. I remember scraping a coating on the floor of one room to reapply a new coating and I backed into the door and it became ajar. I didn't hear a thing but the Staff bum-rushed the room and was checking all doors in a frenzy. They finally honed in on me asking if I had done anything in the hall or to the door and once they found out what happened, gave the all clear for the whole ward.
I don't think the man could've offed himself without anybody knowing what was going on in a modern facility and he's supposed to be on suicide watch.
