I don't want to do porn ads, I think if I can make the board free again, I can grow the traffic enough that Mainstream companies will advertise with me. Amazon and Fanatics tell me I'm headed in the right direction.
It might take time, but if your traffic is super high, legit companies will buy ads not for clicks, but brand awareness, that's the ad money that I want. It's going to take time and more traffic.
Right now we have 1,572 guest that have been on the board within the past 30 minutes, a lot of them are registering to the board. I check all new registered members daily and most are legit. I have to find a way to let these new members make their own threads and become a part of the board. They are the future. They are not coming here with an everything is free mindset. They will be more willing to support advertisers. It won't happen overnight, but in time.
I'm going to do an audio post in a few days to explain this stuff, I planned on doing it Sunday, but just didn't have time. Until then take care.

Issue with taking this site to be a Tumblr type site or even a site for ads or thot type chicks is they would have to host their vids and be able to solicit that. You really don't heavily have that type of simp mindset here of dudes willing to pay for views of stuff. We generally share vids and pics here. Plus you'd need a way to upload images and vid directly on the site and all we do is post links embedded from other hosts.
The other major stigma about the B in BGOL, which I have no problem with is we are Black-GOL. Tumblr was every orientation. So this is our spot to talk shit.
And @HNIC, you know you got nuff heads here willing to help in any way to grow things here, I'm one of them, so let me know, if I can help, the, how I can help.
There's also a lot of little things you may not be doing as well to engage that new member when they sign up. Like if a new thread has a certain amount of posts, to email that new user and tell them to check out this hot thread of ex: Aundrea Renee or this new CSI thread.
Things like that. Engaging that new person with making them come back to the site over and over if they haven't logged in for X days, maybe every 2-3 days? Just ideas...

Mainstream is great but how do we keep our porn base and porn themes? Separate adult forum or what? I don't know but we would have to go in one or the other direction. Mainstream is definitely where the money is at but how would that work logistically on the site? Or are we talking about a separate platform? Everybody is on social media and the majority of BGOL is basically the same thing. We still D/L movies and music or whatever but that's just not as big a thing as it used to be with Fire sticks and all that taking over. I have not downloaded anything in ages. Streaming took that over.
You are right. We are a black themed site. Once again IMO it's all in the marketing.
Let's take Worldstar for example. Is that a black themed site? I would say it's more hood or ghetto which indirectly implies black themes but does not directly or overtly emphasize pro blackness. Folks into hood and urban cultures or hip hop like Vlad or somebody make their living primarily off black culture without directly saying so.

I thought about that angle too. Escorting. Great hustle and great money to replace Craigslist and Backpage. One major problem would be how to screen out minors without getting jacked with sex trafficking charges like BP and CL did because the user base became so large that traffickers snuck their way in and eventually got caught up.

Traffic is the name of the game, if the traffic is high they will overlook certain things that might not sit well on a low traffic website. The demographics of this board are great. It was the stolen shit that was the problem in the old days, along with copyright problems. Most of that stuff is not available anymore.

I don't know the banner numbers but I def want banners, I know was dragging my feet but def will kick in for a year spot.
How do other sites similar to this generate funds? What do brothers buy from Amazon? If you could get some of those recurring purchases. I purchase some supplements off Amazon, and biz products. Not sure if thats possible.

Yes WSHH is black culture themed, but the site isn't "dictated" by its viewers. You send in a vid for submission and comments are then regulated 'today', when they began they weren't.
BGOL, we freely talk about CAC's and when a cop gets shot, we discuss how the BBQ we ate today was off the chain, you know what I mean, lol.
Yeah we are not "exactly" like WSHH. We have created our own culture here which according to HNIC is not really a big problem. Our potential problem was the downloading of content and that has died way down here.

I would hate to see the porn go, but as far as longevity and profitability is concerned, we might have to modify the culture of the board a little. Maybe BGOL has to finally grow up, go legit and clean up some. Make this board more palatable to the masses.

Someone mentioned a quarterly drive idea as well. They may work to supplement ... Esepcially if timed properly. Cats are more prone to give certain times than others.
If I had the money to I would. Especially to learn the in's and outs of this. This board was similar to realestniggas.com. Some how they got shut down and I hate that. But I have never had any money for any real business just the regular grass roots hustle. So I am still in the dark when it comes to real business.
