Liverpool heading to Athens
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/index?cc=5901

Liverpool are heading to Athens for the Champions League final after beating Chelsea 4-1 on penalties at Anfield. Pepe Reina in the Liverpool goal performed heroics for the home side saving two of the three penalties he faced and Dirk Kuyt fired the decisive spot-kick as Chelsea dreams of an unprecedented quadruple were dashed.

I watched the game streaming on uefa.com from work.

Is there a reason why Schevchenko didn't play up front with Drogba????

I think Mourinho didn't want chelsea to win since his future is in doubt. It will make it a bit easier for him to bargain to stay instead of them winning and then he gets the boot.........

Anyway congrats to liverpool, was glad to see pennant start also.

:groupwave
Now united need to beat milan and i'll be happy. We all know if united get to the final they'll win it.

Ha Ha

I don't have any love for 'Chelski' with their Russian Daddy and their arrogant gobby manager "Moaninho"

Even though, I am an Arsenal fan and I live in London, I wanted Liverpool to win.

I always knew that Liverpool would win over two matches

I am looking forward to work!

Can't wait to hunt down all those Chelsea fans who thought they were going to clean up!

Serves them right. Just a bunch of overpaid tossers

I don't like Chelski but they are doing better than the High bury rent boys.

Trophy less season and your one touch passing ain't shit without white girl loving
Terry Henry to finish off a "free flowing" move.

Most people have figured Arsenal out, Viera leaving fucked you lot right up now the team is full of soft players, and Eboue is the biggest cunt of them all.

Arsenal = flops in Europe of the highest order....you got beat by PSV for fucks sake, and now Jew boys left Pedophile might also leave

and just how many does chelski have?

and what happened saturday to chelsea..seems like the polish is going "dull"

everyone knew this was a rebuilding year for arsenal even the arsenal faithful, i am arsenal through and through and knew that..Chel$ki with that payroll should have one the quadruple..for petes sake arsenal's baby's gave them hell in the carling cup

PSV isn't a push over btw..they won their league..more than i can say for chelski..

Arsenal did at least qualify for CL with a gimped up squad..not to mention they'll be loaded next year with sam etoo' headed our way..they'll be fine

All they had to do was score a fucking goal!! Just one away goal and it would have been over. But they decided to play as if they were two goals ahead.
On paper Chelsea have the best team out their but lack the leadership. Jose Mourinho should get the X next season he lacks strategy to rescue them when the pressure on.

If we stop kaka we stop milan. They're a different team when he's not playing well so if we keep the ball off kaka and play the united way they won't be able to cope.

IF we get to the final, liverpool ain't beating us!

UNITED FOR THE TREBLE!!!!!

Hopefully Man U will smack those italians and there negative football to pieces, in front of there super tough ultras!! Funny how these ultras never seem to be at away games!!

Anyway the game tonight was garbage 2 teams that were long ball all the way, if there is a footballing God he or she should, by default, let Man U win the league, CL and the Fa cup their football is simple.....ATTACK, ATTACK ATTACK and attack! The way it should be played.

Liverpool were more guilty than Chelsea such an average attacking team. Their defense is super slow but with that center midfield combo, they can protect the shit ass back four better than Chelsea. Rafa has turned them into a British Valencia, big man up front, two solid banks of four and long balls all the way, if Utd make it into the final I hope they destroy them.

And as for Arse rebuilding with Henry and Viera in the side I would say it was pretty much a complete side, wouldn't you agree? So poor planning made Vieras departure that much more destructive, cos Henry is still here, for how long not sure, hear Barca are sniffing again.

Arse need to figure out another game plan, a plan B, cos once teams get close to them they just dont know what to do and get all rattled, and spit the dummies clean out.

We beat juv last season with viera playing for them and went to the finals. Don’t get me wrong we miss viera but I think we miss Campbell more for corners and free kicks
Our problem this season is playing without our top goal scorers Henry and van persie. Imagine man u playing without c Renaldo and ronny for half of the fuckin season!!

apparently mourinho benched Schevchenko in favor of kalou. Schevchenko then faked a groin injury and decided not to travel with the team or sit on the bench.

I'm surprised you didn't flash Henry and Adebayor's dance at the Emirate last year with that disgusting 2-1 loss. First Van Persie, then Henry. Bleh. Lol.

Plain and simple, you control Kaka, and you control this game. Kaka embarrased the Red Devils last week at Old Trafford, and i'm positive he's set out to do the same thing at the Giuseppe Meazza tommorow. It's seriously gonna come down, to Paul Scholes, or Michael Carrick "trying" to contain him.

AC Milan didn't have much of a showing last time around, especially with ol boy Gillardino. I swear the first time I saw him was when he got yanked.

The rest of AC Milan's performance didn't impress me one bit. Half way to the end, I already started dubbing the match "Kaka vs. Manchester United Leg 1."

Expect another performance from newly appointed Darren Flethcer as well. Although folks around camp were calling for Christopher Eagles after his showing against Everton over the weekend. We'll see who SAF goes with.

Should be a good match. I've got a 2-1 (5-3 agg) swinging Manchester's way.

I'm sure the boys at Anfield can't wait for an all english final in Athens in a few weeks. :D

I don't think you can travel when you have a record. That's what England did with their boys up until recently. The Milan fans aren't that bad it's the fucking Inter fans that do the weird shit; stoning the team at the airport, pelting Dida with flairs, and throwing mopeds of the balcony.

-------------------------

bigvince Sheva's not built for it. He doesn't have the same fight he had for Milan. He just doesn't seem to give a fuck and Mourinho can't manage him either. Lampard, Shevchenko, Robben, Joe Cole, Ferreira, and Mourinho (at times) are the biggest cunts in football. Fair play to Liverpool especially Sissoko and Mascherano.

Kid you're forgetting that Milan are the professionals of professional football. They know when and how to fall like no other. Going to possbly the most intimidating stadium in football isn't going to be easy. Everyone says Kaka is Milan but Goucruff, Seedorf, and Pirlo can create magic.

Without a doubt United are the favorites because of Rooney and Ronaldo but Milan know better than anyone else what they are doing.

One of the best ever topics to grace BGOL. I never had the chance to watch the match but this thread gave me some insights and am delighted at the way it's going.
Now watch as some ignorant MR IDONT UNDERSTAND FOOTBALL hater get into this thread. :D :D :D

c.ronaldo will have to have a super game, i wonder how chelsea will rebound this weekend against us?

next year i'm starting a Football thread for all of us, its time we start talking the worlds sport more often

nothing wrong with that..we'll see

The reason Man U won that game was because Milan beat themselves in the beginning with that fuck-up by Dida and at the end when the player lost the ball for no reason in Man U's half which created a cunterattack.

Milan NEVER make the same mistake twice. Everyone doubted them after that 2:2 tie with Bayern Munich and then they went to Germany and showed what Milan football is all about: discipline, professionalism and class.

It's going to be a remach of the 2005 final in Istambul, and Milan will show LiverFOOL how football is really meant to be played.

Ok your right. Milan has Seedorf, and Kaka. As far as Pirlo, Gattuso, Maldini, Nesta, Gillardino, Dida, all these cats were inactive and just flat out missing at the match at Old Trafford. Milan supporters claim that they lost that match because Maldini and Gattuso got sent off.

Honestly, i'm praying that P. Maldini starts today. There isn't much hope for him lasting 90 minutes and late in the game, he will become a liabilty for Milan. Promised.

I would also disagree with you in saying Man U were the favorites in that first leg match. Message boards worldwide didn't give the Red Devils a chance against the internationally acclaimed onslaught that is Milan football. Betting lines from last weeks match proved that. Plus half way through that match, it started to show. But the boys did show their resiliency and took advantage of mistakes made by Milan. Momentum is swinging Milan's way, and I don't think that's gonna change this time around either. You can read from some of the posts in here that prove that as well.

Should be a good match. I'm leaving work early for this one.

Peace.

AC Milan 3

Manchester United 0

I should've stayed at work for this one. :smh:

Blame the rains. Blame the San Siro. That was one of the worst displays of football by Manchester United i've seen in a long while.

AC Milan did what Manchester did to Roma in that 7-1 thrashing a few weeks ago. With less goals of course. Milan smothered everything Manchester threw their way. On United's part there was no pace, no touch, no control, no passing, no midfield, a hair of an attack here and there, no defense, and most importantly no heart. Lack luster to say the least, if they would've won this game, it would've been disheartning to see such a poor performance in the Final.

My hats off to AC Milan. Very deserving to be through to the final in Athens next week. They'll be out for blood trying to escape the repeat of an Istanbul replay.

Onto the double.

We made it rain on them boyz 3 - zip!

Man U will have their time in the spotlight. When these young players get some more champions league experience they will be a real force.
