Peace,

one thing is for sure Bobby Cannavale can act his ass off

he's killing it...

That's just it though: he's chewing through scenery with no real purpose. I predict that this will be one of those programs, like Boardwalk Empire, that has the directing, the actors, the wardrobe, the sets, the music - seemingly everything - but still somehow never manages to stick with you.

I think it's trying to be to many things most of which we seen before. It's trying to do the Music company journey (we've seen this in Cadillac Records and Dreamgirls ) , the mobster angle (Sopranos/Boardwalk empire), 70's setting (American Hustle, Carlito's Way, Studio 54, Boogie Nights, take your pic lol)

We've seen all this before, so it's easy to watch, but as Ill Para said nothing sticks.

I disagree with both of you - Boardwalk was a damn good story

No one has told the story Vinyl is doing... its not like Cadillac Records etc... its not trying to show you parts of the industry, while sugar coating it - its showing you the whole ugly thing.

In this story a label head is already the master of all the hustles, scams and lopsided contracts and the various ways money is made and stolen in the industry... from payola to showing how bootlegging was always the labels getting tax free cash... fraudulent and inflated sales, buying the charts etc... he is fully in control of how thoroughly every recording artist is screwed.
A hustler choosing not to take the money and run, but now intends instead to work...

I don't know if its good yet but it has my attention

it's cool...don't love it or hate it...it's something to watch...if they dive more into kool herc deejaying/advent of hip hop then it will really be something...the brother who decided to manage the nasty bits is the only character that's likeable imo...pretty much everybody else comes off like whiny scumbags which can make the show hard to like @ times

Man he fucks shit up left and right. Doin that watch your bitch get banged out is cac shit so he was right at home lol

Black chic wasn't havin it lol

Fuckin pigs are watchin him.

ok im caught up. i like the show. like the leads and like the scene. like the revisionist history seeing things come into focus. clearly he's going to get put onto hip hop and spark that punk rock phase.

that black secretary is so motherfucking fine omg

Boardwalk Empire was a good looking chick who can't fuck.

This show is along the same vein. It'll throw you a few cool moments and episodes over the course of the season but, by and large, it wont go anywhere and it'll leave you feeling unfulfilled.

Might as well and go punch Hannibal in the face after all of that right?
That ego got the best of him and made him say some stupid ass shit that's why you keep your mouth shut when you're mad.
Cops know he's involved speaking on the phone about it lol.

The fear of a black planet hit Ritchie !

Devon was ready for the pipe ...he checking her panties for moisture
:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao3:

This show sneaks in the black pioneers of rock n roll that rarely get credit. This week it was Little Richard. Best part of the show... Mick Jagger gets it

He took his bitch. Should've let him have her she's gone already anyway lol.

All i know is, I gotta hit that sideways torro Hannibal hit to begin the scene. I'm going to do that shit. Might be at the club might be at a wedding but before i begin my approach im hitting that sideways torro, arms out and everything

That cat damn near fucked his chic without fucking her.

He tossed CC to the side like.. hey you handle that. The part where Ritchie offered him a bump and he was like I got a bump..and his wife was in twerk position talking bout "you sure do sir"
i lost it! all of it. CC was like get them cac hands off me. he tried to pull her back she was like "I SAID IM ALRIGHT"
if that wasn't her boss she would've said CRACKER GET YO HANDS OFF OF ME

Damn that' show ya'll feel about Boardwalk? IMO, that's the best gangster show on TV. It could've been better. It would've been far better if it had less Nucky and more of everyone else around him.

That show was a lot of wasted potential. They miscast Nucky. His story was lame. They killed Jimmy off too soon. They kept his mom around for no reason. Too many bad decisions to count.

I had no problem with any of the above but I understand why that would bother people. I agree about his mom. She served no purpose in the scheme of things after it came out who's Jimmy dad was. I had no problem with Jimmy dying but it had no pay off. Like on Game Of Thrones when they killled Ned STark it had purpose for seasons after. Like it should've for Jimmy.

Man that was some crazy shit.

The piano song was dope.

Life-on-Mars-180292.jpg

vs.
BBC
624

entire episode was an easter egg, and tributes to Bowie, and to a lesser extent Buddy Holly

I spotted dude as a ghost by the 2nd scene and thought it was really cheap poorly done - until piano man started singing, but I wasn't sure until the accident then the multiple Buddy Holly references through the show including the song Richie screamed at the pool boy for that played again through the last scene- then it all made sense

the 2 versions of Life on Mars had very different endings for the main character
